PHOTO HUNT 2009 THEMES
PAINTED
As much as I would have loved to show you the before and after photos of our house painting...the project still remains unfinished! We have 6 shutters and a bit of eave/siding on the front of the house yet to do before it's complete. That would have been perfect for the week's prompt. Instead tho, I will show you a couple of projects that are done by Bud and me. [I've shown these two on my blog before tho.] The first one is a cardinal that I painted in watercolors. The 2nd one is a coyote sun worshiper [he's facing EAST] that Bud carved from wood and I painted and decorated.

We had purchased advanced tickets to view the first showing of the theater release date of Angels and Demons. Another best seller from Dan Brown who gave us the Da Vinci Code. I once said I didn't read the book but Bud did. As soon as the movie started I realized I HAD read it. Goes to show you what an impact it made on my brain. LOL Okay, so I read both The Da Vinci Code and Angels and Demons [in that order]. Most times I would state the popular fact that runs through our home when books are made into movies. As with The Da Vinci Code, the book was way better than the movie. BUT!!---Angels and Demons the movie is a thousand percent better than the book. Tho the movie is quite long [about two and a half hours give or take a few minutes], but, Ron Howard directed --his movies tend to run long....it follows the sequence of Brown's writing to a tee. And the visual effects helped me enjoy the movie more. Not to mention the sound and music. The Vatican is in danger, the Cardinals residing in the walled city are in danger also. It takes Robert Langdon [played by Tom Hanks] to help figure out the symbols, the code, the ILLUMINATI. Great flick! I'd give it an academy award nomination...yes indeed, a 4.5 out of 5 being the best. It tests faith. It unravels the Vatican's history. And if I were a Pope [HA!] I would not see the harm in having this movie released at all. I think it shows more than what the Catholics are given credit for these days...and brings on a strong, more positive approach than what people are saying. [I was raised with this faith, and I do know all the negatives that surround it these days...it's a shame.] But, truly it's worth seeing. Well worth seeing.

I admired your painted and particulary the second one with the coyote! I enjoy watching about the indian culture. I red the two books but didn't still watch the film of Da Vinci Code. If I go to the cinema it will only to admire the prestation of Tom Hanks! I am a little tired with politic and religion now!! Have a beautiful weekend Annie!!!

I love the paintings...I didn't know you were so talented...when you posted the picture, how did you put the watermark "hootin annie" on the picture...I wanted to add my name to my photos, so no one could copy them, but I can't figure it out....I have on photo elements something that say watermark, but I can't do it... usually it takes me a few months to figure some things out...LOL

ReplyDeleteGood to read your "thumb's up" re. Angels & Demons. One of my biggest pet peeves ... (is) when a movie producer decides to take liberties with the original book (for example) "The Notebook." After that particular skew, I'd decided never again to watch a movie if I'd first read and enjoyed the book. Now ....? Well, I'm all about second chances!

ReplyDeleteI have no interest in reading these two books or seeing the movies, but Kristen treated herself last night, even though she hasn't been feeling good - she had bought a ticket in advance as well. I haven't heard from her yet this morning - she went to the later one, so probably is still sleeping!
I just knew you would highlight some of your work today! I completely forgot about any of MY stuff! I'm still so anxious to be sharing things I found on my trip!

ReplyDeleteI read both book too and thought they were good, but was very surprised by just how popular they became. I enjoyed them and I would read Browns new book when it comes out.
ReplyDeleteThe Da Vinci Code movie was also alright, but I was astounded by both its controversy and its success.
They were light thrillers, people.
Both books and movies were and are interesting as long as we understand they are fiction. The problem comes because parts of what he writes are related to things that are true but are just enough off to make them false.

ReplyDeletemy, you're a couple of creative people:) btw, i've seen the angels and demons movie too and i'm quite curious why news said that Vatican tried to delay its showing. It's a very good movie and people would understand more about the religion's history.
