PHOTO HUNT 2009 THEMES

STRIPES

This is quite reminiscent of a tabloid advertisement...but, still, here goes.

Stripes LLC, the retail arm of Susser Holdings Corporation, directly operates over 500 retail convenience stores in Texas, Oklahoma and New Mexico The Company operates under the Stripes®. Founded in 1938, now it is one of the Top 20 convenience store chains in the United States.

And with that bit of background...naturally I thought of the very thing when I read this week's prompt for the hunt. I see 'em all over the city and state!! STRIPES stores ---like a 7-11 store of years past. Here are three different stations, plus the 4th photo, stars and stripes.

You posted something like "You did good for the challenge of stripes?" Close, maybe? LOLOLOL

I love visiting with you too each week since your blog is IN French. I try to decipher it for myself, it's good for me to continue with foreign languages!!

  18. Good stripes.

    What is a 7-11 store?

    ReplyDelete
  19. Liz Love the stripes you found with a tribute to your mother. Great photo. And, thanks for the visit. You asked what a 7-11 store is in America, it's a convenience store that was around the country all over America at one time. The store was open from 7 a.m. to 11 p.m. You could buy gasoline [petrol] and snacks, milk, soda, candy, bread, things like that.

  20. Wow, that's literally stripes. Where in Texas is that found?

    ReplyDelete
  21. So are these Stripes only found in Texas?? Have to confess that I have never heard of or seen them -- and I lived in the US for more than 10 years -- and traveled to quite a few states (but not Texas...) while there!

  22. nice collection, anni!

  23. What great photo hunt pictures! How easy was that! I love it.

    ReplyDelete
  24. Well now, I guess I haven't been paying much attention for the last 26 years. I've lived in Texas that long and I can't say that I've ever seen one. I better open my eyes a bit wider! Silly me.

    My stripes are up.

  25. I've never heard of 'em before. Very creative idea. It fits the theme well.

    My Stripes.

  26. Thank you for stopping by...I'll have to look for a Stripes store the next time I'm in Texas.

  27. Anni,

I have never seen a Stripes store when visiting the USA, but have seen the Stars and Stripes plenty of times. I think your flag is beautiful and it has such history. There is a huge US flag in Ohio and the boys marvel at it whenever they see it. It's beautiful.

Hope you and Bud have a great day. It's cold, windy and overcast here.

    Blessings,
    Mary

  34. You know, I lived in Dallas for eight years and in Oklahoma City for 11 years and I don't remember ever seeing these. Are they a new thing? Of course it has been twenty years since I lived there. Went to college in Bethany, and went to med school in Dallas.

  35. Perfect for you, and something new for me. That all adds up to a very interesting post!
    Thanks for visiting.

    ReplyDelete

Thanks for visiting my photo hunt this week...have an enjoyable weekend.

  42. So you mean the Stripes store is like the new 7-11? We have 7-11 stores here in the Philippines popping like mushrooms and we don't go in because things sold there are VERY expensive :D

    Happy weekend, Anni :)

    ReplyDelete
  43. I see you really have found stripes all over Texas...and New Mexico and Oklahoma too. Cool!

    ReplyDelete
  44. I think you've got a good response to the prompt, and it's fun for a Canadian like me who's never been to your neck of the woods to see a bit of the everyday. Well, technically, I was born in your state, but I was three months old when I left...

    ReplyDelete
  45. Great idea. Your site is always so festive,... wish I knew how to change mine,.. even just once.

    ReplyDelete
  46. Wow! That's a creative way to use Stripes as the name. It sure sounded patriotic enough. :)
