Okay, so on with "Wordful Wednesday". The photos and write up for the photos....
On Martin Luther King Holiday, Bud and I took a little trip to the Texas State Aquarium on the other side of Corpus Christi. We drove over the Harbor Bridge and winded around the beach roads and spent a couple of hours walking around inside the aquarium
I snapped the photos through my cellphone to take y'all on the tour with us. Each photo has mouseover captions....

I don't know about everyone else, but I'm exhausted still from all the televised hoopla from yesterday. I had the television on from 9a.m. yesterday until I saw Michelle's choice of her inaugural ball gown!! All that walking and talking and luncheons and motorcade and parade watching and dancing....Phew!! I'm "bushed" out!!! [pun intended!!]
Be that as it may, I was sorely disappointed with the gown. Tho a beautiful creation in itself, it was not so becoming as I had dreamed it would be to our first lady; at least from the bodice downward. My opinion of course. It failed to show off her beautiful figure...it was so 'sacky-like' it drew away from her bright lovely face. I found myself looking at the dress instead of the 'whole package'. To me it made her seem like a misplaced snowman on the ballroom floor. Barack's white tie was more adorning. But then again, throughout history, MOST gowns from all the previous first ladies have been gorgeous in their own right, as Michelle's was, but very unflattering when worn. What made it all worth the wait was watching Barack's eyes when he looked at his wife...he's soooo IN L♥VE!!!!!

- "the one-shoulder dress showed off her physique, but it wasn't an overall sexy look, as many had hoped. People had anticipated clean lines that would show off her curves, so the flounced gown was disappointing to some."
Happy Wednesday! Bloghoppin' here... Hey, I have an interesting tutorial for you that I have written myself. It is about adding Adsense on your Single Post in XML template. I hope you'll like it! God Bless you!
ReplyDeleteHappy WW!!
ReplyDeleteVery beautiful pictures-and with a cell phone, awesome!
Thanks for the photo tour! What kind of phone do you have?! Those are great pictures!
ReplyDeleteSparkette: Samsung...I asked for and shopped around to find a cellphone camera with High Resolution. It helps with the clarity.

The colors are so vivid. Really nice shots!
ReplyDeleteAnd I do think Michelle's dress is very flattering to her on the top. When I clicked the picture to make it bigger, I thought her shoulders, etc. looked very pretty in it.
Great pictures of your day trip. Those are the kinds of things DC sees when he goes snorkeling in Hawaii - which I will never see because of my aquaphobia. We did have dolphins following our boat when we went whale-watching (no whales) - they were so cute sailing through the air.
ReplyDeletePart II is up!
your aquarium shots a beautiful. so colourful.... lovely!
ReplyDeletegreat photos from a cell phone -
ReplyDeleteI liked her dress - I was hoping she would were something 'not so bold'
Good Morning Anni.... Beautiful pictures and yes it was an exciting day yesterday... We all witnessed History in the making... Hip Hip Hooray for him.... I wish him well in his next 4 years....

Happy WW! The tour was fun, the photography was breath taking.
ReplyDeleteI agree on the gown. She is a lovely woman, but the gown did nothing for her.
Hey, thanks for the tour!
ReplyDeleteI loved the "pun" !!!
I think I liked the gown...though!
Tasteful but not too flashy...I like her style!!
Happy W/W! Seeing your pictures makes me want to go to the aquarium =) It's been years...
ReplyDeleteI wasn't surprised to see her in a one shoulder gown, everyone was "predicting" it. But you're right, there's a lot of extra fabric going on! I did absolutely love what she wore during the Inauguration though.
Looks like you had a great time at the aquarium! Beautiful pictures. We've never been to that one, but we went to the one at Moody Gardens in Galveston. Absolutely breathtaking.
ReplyDeleteWould you be willing to share with me where you got the information on how to make the mouseover pictures? I'm making a quilt for my daughter and would love to create a mouseover pic like yours to display with it. :)
Love, love, love your blog! Your name is awesome!
Anni,
ReplyDeleteI had the TV on at 9am yesterday morning as well and watched the festivities throughout the day until I saw Michelle Obama's dress. I too was keenly disappointed. However, watching the first dance you can tell they are deeply in love. It was a great day.
Loved your photos of the aquarium. It reminded me of when we went to Sea World in Florida last year.
I'm tired out from all the excitement of yesterday as well. It was a big moment in the history of the USA. Congratulations on voting for Barka Obama. I think he has a tough row to hoe, but do think he's up to the job.
Blessings,
Mary
Wait... wait... wait....
ReplyDeleteDo my eyes decieve me?
Am I reading a blog from someone in Texas, that actually LIKES Obama? or are you just being kind... Do tell... I'm just dying to know.
Great pictures!

First of all congratulations to your new President ! For the first time in my life I watched an American inauguration life on TV. This time it was special and most of the European people did too.
ReplyDeleteI saw this morning a video on BBC News where the Obama couple opened the ball. I found her dress just beautiful and all my friends too. We were so curious about what she would wear and we were not disappointed. She has a very good taste and is very elegant. This time I disagree with you, lol !
Great pictures! We are hoping to hit Sea World this year.. and I am terrified of fish! haha. My husband is convinced he can break my fear. We'll see.
ReplyDeleteGattina: But Gattina I do think her gown was pretty! Just disappointing to me, I was expecting a more figure flattering gown.
ReplyDelete~Anni
Thanks so much for the help! I never thought you could do that in Blogger. Can you tell me how you got the pics to sit next to each other like that? Sorry to be a bother. Your aquarium pics look so good arranged like that! :)
ReplyDeleteBeautiful pictures.
ReplyDeleteI respectfully disagree about Michelle's dress. I thought it was perfect! There is a picture of them dancing on the president's seal and I think that will be the best picture of 2009. But, that's just my two cents too:-)
Such great pictures, Anni! We have a great Aquarium here(New Orleans)that I LOVE going to! However, we don't have to go to the aquarium to see aligators... we can just see them dead on side of the road on the interstate ON THE WAY to the aquarium. Haha, funny how roadkill changes from state to state!
ReplyDeleteOhhhhhhhh now SEE? I was THRILLED with her ball gown! I thought it was classic elegance! Very feminine and flowy... hid her little tummy... I just LOVED it! She always dresses so nicely...
ReplyDeleteI thought I might find your letter A here! Today is the day! (it's a Wednesday meme...) Mine are up!
Wow..your cell takes great pictures! I love how you were able to group them together like that! Thanks for taking us there with you!!!
ReplyDeleteWhat great pictures of the aquarium! And sadly, I'm with you on Michelle Obama's dress...seemed it was an easily stepped on design too. But she DID look pretty, and happy. :)
ReplyDeletethanks so much for coming by my blog, Anni!
Those are great pictures!
ReplyDeleteCan you imagine getting sworn in as president and then having to participate in all of that stuff. I bet they were exhausted!
Hi...I'm here from my mom's blog, Diane @ Diane's Place.
ReplyDeleteI love your blog and just wanted to comment and say Happy Wordless Wednesday!
Have a great rest of the week
Love, Jess
I feel like I've hijacked your comments section! Just wanted to say thank you, thank you, thank you for all of your help. Have a great day!
ReplyDeleteThanks for the bloggy visit!
ReplyDeleteLove your aquarium shots! They came out really well... it isn't east shooting through glass. The shark picture almost looks animated! Coo!

Thanks for stopping by my blog! The photos of the aquarium are wonderful!! Looks like a great place to visit. And your cell phone took those? Amazing!!
ReplyDeleteHave a nice day!
LOL! YES Anni! Catch up next week with letters A, B, C AND D!!! We are doing two letters each week - in alphabetical order. (otherwise it would go on forEVER...) Also... if you miss a letter that's fine - because I really wonder how many I won't be able to find MYSELF!!! LOL! The object is to try and see how many of them you can get!
ReplyDeleteI've been to that aquarium, it's pretty nice! Great pictures!
ReplyDeleteI think Michelle Obama is beautiful and her dress during the day was reminiscent of Jakie O. But yes, the ball gown wasn't may favorite...
I too was most impressed by the love seen in Barack's eyes. It is so awesome to see how much they love and inspire each other.
ReplyDeleteVery cool pics of the aquarium. We are planning a trip to our local aquarium soon with the girls.
I agree about the dress. It was pretty, but not on her. She has an athletic physique, so something soft and feminine doesn't look right on her. She should have gone sleek and somewhat fitted.
ReplyDeleteYour phone does take great photos! I love going to aquariums. We have the Shedd Aquarium here in Chicago, but i'm not too impressed with it. Its kinda boring! The aquarium you went to looks like it has beautiful exhibits.
What exceptional photos from your phone!
ReplyDeleteFabulous pics! I agree on Michelle's dress...it was disappointing. She's beautiful and it just didn't do her justice.
ReplyDeleteI agree with you on the gown although it does look good in the picture you posted. I kept thinking how tired they all must be getting. I guess with the adrenaline flowing it kept them going. It wore me out and I was sitting in a comfortable chair in our family room.
ReplyDeleteI can't believe the Cardinals are actually going to the Super Bowl.
Charlotte
I love visiting aquariums...loks like you've got a nice one in your neck of the woods!
ReplyDeleteAnni...I really liked her dress and the one she wore during the day too..so many people thought that the one she wore during the day made her look older...I dont agree!! BUT just my opinion of course.
ReplyDeleteSitting here this afternoon trying to catch up with reading blogs. I just cannot seem to catch up anymore..WHEW!! Do you like my new header etc..I am learning by myself now..THanks so much for your help!!
I like your photos.
ReplyDeleteAwesome pictures.
ReplyDeleteI have to admit the best part of the dress was the way he looked at her when they were dancing. I saw a show today where they were showing past Presidents and their wives dancing, and none of them looked so attentively to their spouse as Barak did to Michelle. They seem so in love and happy. I pray this will be a good 4 years to come!!! Loved the ball gown, did not like the day outfit.
ReplyDeleteI also thought the ball dress could have looked better on Michelle than it did, she is so lovely, I thought the white balls on the dress were unnecessary and unflattering, but what a great day and evening and they looked so happy.
ReplyDeleteNice photos from your cell phone, the aquarium has lots of interesting things.
Great pictures at the aquarium. Really fantastic for a cell phone!!!
ReplyDeleteHappy WW!
OOHH I love your photos..good cell phone!!!
ReplyDeleteAnd I liked it...but not the strap..it seemed outta place...they are in love...she seems to blush when he looks at her!!
Great pictures. Looks like fun
ReplyDeleteI was glad to see I wasn't the only one who was disappointed
ReplyDeletein the gown Michele wore.
Robert and I have been to the Aquarium a couple of times. It is a great place. Loved the pictures.
Great aquarium pics!
ReplyDeleteI think Michelle's dress was pretty, but the best part of the night - I agree with you - was how our new President looked at our new First Lady. Love it!
I must admit...loved the first lady's day outfit...but liked the one you have posted as a possibility.... better than the one she wore. I expected the sleek.... look to show off her figure too.
ReplyDeleteI love the pictures from the aquarium. Beautiful! I didn't last as long as you and didn't wait to see what the 1st lady wore to the ball. "bushed" out, I guess you could say, LOL! I was NOT a fan of the dress she wore to the inauguration though. NOT at all! I thought it made her look a lot bigger than she was!
ReplyDeleteHappy WW! What great pics! They are a fabulous couple, it's obvious how in love they are. A real joy to see :)
