BASKETS WITH A PURPOSE!
If there is one thing in a home I really dislike, it's the ugly light and electrical switch plates. Especially the electrical outlets on a wall! I'm a firm believer in NOT painting them the same as a wall color for safety reasons. Yet, they loom up [excuse the expression] like a moon on an outhouse door! And electrical cords are another nuisance. I try my best to hide them when all times possible.
About a year ago, when we repainted the white walls throughout the home to individual room colors, I wanted the entertainment center on the interior central wall in the living room. Which that entailed having a huge cable behind the carpet on the wall. Then, it had to be visible at the exterior wall where the cable went outdoors...so, I got a huge basket. Coiled up the extra length and stuffed it in the bottom of the basket and put flowers for the season inside. [shown below]
And I continually try to find 'odd shaped baskets' or baskets with a different 'flair' to be used for a cover-up job!
Below are a few here and there...hopefully with a flair. Most all are covering wall outlets---

I really love the basket with orange flower in it :)
ReplyDeleteI can't believe it !!! I do exactly the same ! I hide all hanging around cables in a nice basket and put something on ! Behind my computer too and then it's so easy to clean, just lift up the basket !
ReplyDeleteYou are so creative my friend, love you.
ReplyDeleteHi Annie

Down with those ugly outlets! ;-) What a great way to use your baskets. I always struggle with what to DO with mine.
ReplyDeleteLove the basket display. And btw I love the candy and garfield on the earlier post. Too cute.
ReplyDeleteBack to the baskets. I hate cords too.

ReplyDeleteHi Anni, Great collection with a purpose! I just stopped by to let you know, you are on my mind as we watch Gustav. I am sure you have a plan. Be safe! Flooding is a dreadful thing. HUGS!!!
ReplyDeleteAnni,
ReplyDeleteWhat lovely baskets. I especially like the one with the flowers that is hiding that cord and what a terrific idea. Cords and wall switches are extremely ugly and to buy decorative ones costs a fortune. Thanks so much for the idea.
Take care, my friend and have a wonderful weekend. This is my last day with the boys before school starts on Tuesday. Not sure what we're doing.
Blessings,
Mary
Great idea for hiding your outlets-very pretty baskets.
ReplyDeleteWhen I moved in here, there were plastic covers-ugly. I switched them all out to brass which I still have. Out in the kitchen I got hand forged pewter ones-very nice
I know, I try to always hide mine also. It doesn't always work, but it is worth the try. Good job with all your baskets.
ReplyDeleteYou're just incredible...And such fun! Please accept the award I'm offering you over at my blog!
ReplyDeleteHave a lovely week end.
