I just KNEW I was in trouble the minute I switched on my car's directional signals to get off the freeway to the street that takes me into the back way to the cardiologist complex. "My" street was closed to thru traffic because of construction...had to take a detour and that made me feel rushed, and running late. Wednesday morning, after my cardiologist exam/appt. I didn't walk in the area I had planned on walking. Mainly, 'cause it was quite foggy by the time I got out of the Dr.s office. Tho fog is pretty, being at the marina just doesn't do much in the ambiance of the masts and sailboats. Kinda blazè. So, I'll wait until there is a day filled with sunshine to walk there and take photos. Instead, I drove part way home along Ocean Drive and stopped at Cole Park to walk the trail there that follows the hilly coastline. The bay was quiet, both in foot traffic and the surf. Nice, calming and enjoyable. A good choice to unwind from the stress of nurses and doctors. They're good people, of course, but the idea of being there, for me, can be stressful....the white coat syndrome!!! The last time I was there, meds dosages were cut in half; this time, I got a bit of 'good news'....no need to see them again for A WHOLE YEAR! My stats -ekg, bp, etc.- [except for weight gain during the last year of covid and not much exercise] were "Text Book Perfect" according to the cardiologist. I do need to schedule a blood test for lipid and metabolic readings. He advised me around Mid-April. In other words...I'm free as a bird 'til March 2022. Whoa.
Back on the trail. It follows the coast line; the park grounds are narrow, but long ...the course is about 1/2 block wide, but 3+ miles one way in length. Lined with rocky cliffs, rocky beach, palm trees, cotillions, paved bike/pedestrian track, grassy knolls with benches for viewing the bay, and sculptures. Plus a new "memory garden". Which is kinda self-explanatory. A small section of land with sculptures and plaques of those that were innocent victims in crimes...photos will help understand, I think:
This last photo duo is of a palm tree on the left....the right shows a close up of what was in the cut fronds!! See 'em? Three of 'em?
