I wish NOT on my Worst Enemy!

Still bored. Working on the puzzle from hell a few minutes at a time. I tellya, being that it is 5D, I wouldn't want this for my enemy!! What a pain. I see a piece, think it's fitting for the place I think would fit, pick it up, and the whole design changes in front of my eyes. It's like I want to pick up my puzzle table and toss the whole shebang out the window. Then, again, I will keep complaining about it, and finish it...but, never again. On any "D puzzle" from now on, I'll pass.

Bud finished one of his Texas whiskey bottles the other day. I loved the shape of it...glass, and shaped like a royal crown. I got the sticky label off, soaked it in soapy water, rinsed it out, and filled it to the brim with clear, clean water then, added blue food coloring.

I've been crocheting a bit here and there. I have done ten more new pansies for my afghan. I think that makes 34 left to do, then crochet them all together. Maybe by September or October if we are to remain in lockup, I'll have it done.

Speaking of September...I've been shopping online for gaiters. Do you know what gaiters are? Not gators, but gaiters. It's what Nancy Pelosi wears to match her outfit. A face mask [usually for skiers or hunters.] I found some really pretty ones [who said I couldn't make a fashion statement like so many others are these days?!!], but the delivery dates for the ones that are pretty were all way beyond September into October! I don't think so. So, I spent a couple hours on the phone, searching and found three --buy three at that price and no shipping charges. They're to be delivered within a week's time [as I type this up...I may have them already by the time this is prescheduled to post].

Went for another joy ride over the past week...to Joe Fulton Corridor. This is an area between the river and the ship channel. Behind most of the oil refineries. There is a lot of standing water in this area after heavy rains, so I thought I'd find some birds...hoping to see the Wood Storks that return to this part of Texas in June/July. I didn't see any birds but red winged blackbirds and a couple of stilts in this part of my drive.  And being a Sunday morning, early, I was very surprised to have such heavy semi-truck traffic on their way to or from the loading docks at the port o'call or at the refineries.  There is no place but one [at the river bank] to safely pull over and off the road.  Believe me, those trucks slow down for no-one.

I did see lots of cattle on the hill tho.

I drove on...back on Carbon Plant Road, and saw one caracara...a juvenile bird.

Juvenile Crested Caracara

I then hit Tule Lake...still only a stilt or two and some swallows. So, I ended up at West Guth Park and walked there a bit. Very humid and by the time I arrived it was getting hot too. I saw parakeets, curlews, ducks, seagulls and more. I watched some men playing a round of disc golf...

and then noticed as I climbed the hill back to the car a lot of people congregating with no masks and groups of more than ten. Time to get out of harm's way. I headed for home and made a pumpkin pie with crust from scratch.  While it was baking in the oven, the scent made the whole house smell delicious.  Besides Blackberry pie being my favorite, I think pumpkin is my 2nd choice.  But if given an ultimatum, I think I'd have to sample BOTH!

  1. I think I would have quit that puzzle. Life is too short to waste time being so frustrated. You sure do get an A for effort! Gosh, that looks so much like a blue bottle! I never would have guessed it has blue water inside!

    1. As much as it is a pain, I find a challenge like this never a waste of time...it's good for the brain I suppose, to work things out and get it done.

  3. You made me chuckle about your jigsaw, a friend of ours gave me a jigsaw and you have to guess what the picture is from the picture on the box! That sounds like too much hard work and it's still in the box haha. I might get it out when I get really bored, but for now I'll stick with my sudoku puzzles.

Loved seeing the pictures from your travels, and thanks for visiting my blog, your comment was lovely :)

  4. That puzzle would have already been back in the box if it was me.
I've seen a couple people in the store wearing those gaiters. That's a crazy amount of time to have to wait for them though. Glad you were able to find some that shipped quicker.

  7. Since I get totally frustrated and that makes me totally crazy just doing a normal puzzle I can't even imagine a 5-day or any day! Waiting to see what it looks like when it's finished! I just don't get why people are congregating in groups and not wearing mask it's not like it's hard to do and on the chance that it will keep it from spreading why not as my question. I can tell you what's going to happen because we're living in the red-hot State of Florida and our county is a dark is red there is. And it's because of beaches and people congregating and not staying apart. I think I smell pumpkin pie I love the smell of pumpkin pie but prefer sweet potato pie over pumpkin but there's not a pie in the world that I don't love except rhubarb

    1. Itxs a puzzle to me too!...not wearing masks & huge groups. They just don't get it. But I also think the country was too eager to open up.

  8. I can't even begin to imagine what that puzzle is like. No thanks! Did you know that gaiters are also things you wear on your legs to keep pants dry in wet weather? I have a pair or two but none of those other ones. They are pretty, though.

  9. You have talked me out of any D puzzles. Life is too short. I will have to notice Nancy's gaiter next time she comes to the mike. The ones I Googled looked fashionable but look like they might be a bit hot. Let us know how you like yours.

  14. I'm not much of a puzzle person so I'm afraid that "D" puzzle you're working on would drive me to distraction too, Anni. I love your pretty bottles too. I used to have some really ornate & old bottles that I'd keep on the window sill... but they got donated to the church resale shop quite awhile ago. I'm trying to par down & get-rid-of... so my kids don't have to do it when I can't anymore. Oh my.... the accumulation that nearly 64 years produces!!! :-O :-) Love, Andrea xoxo

That pie looks delicious. My sister in law is pie queen of the family. Each bday we get our choice.
Mine is strawberry/rhubarb. Unfortunately due to a January bday neither are available but I do get a bonus when both are in seasons.

  19. I can understand your frustration with the puzzle. Puzzles are not my thing. But DH is struggling with our 2000 piece one... so many pieces are identical and fit... but are not right. But he continues on. Good luck with yours. 3-D or 5-D NEVER!
