Part 1 of the seawall walk was all about shrimpboats. This part, part two is a few of the winged creatures as I sat on the wall by the water watching the activity on the bay...
The loud squawking of the Great Blue Heron broke my reverie. It flew up to the light pole just a short distance from me and perched. In fact, it allowed me to walk right up under it before it took off for better horizons...

...the brown pelicans seem to ignore the social distancing rule also! Out in the bay, on the breakwater they were! Corpus Christi's "Chamber of Commerce" nickname is "The Sparkling City by the Bay". This seems to epitomize the name:

These two gulls followed me when I walked to the end of the area to get a panoramic view of Shoreline and the walkway that follows the gazebos and the yacht club to end at a sandy beach. Anyway, I think they were expecting me to magically produce a snack or two. Sorry to disappoint.

Next, in my final and last post at the seawall, I ventured off the sidewalk, and walked behind it, to the harbor bridge. I ended up taking a few "off perspective" images and will share; all upcoming in a short while.

Love the shots of the heron. I have one similar to your pelican shot but mine are seagulls.
ReplyDeleteI'd love to see it!
DeleteHello, Anni
ReplyDeleteGreat captures of the Heron, Pelicans and the Gulls. Enjoy your day!
I couldn't believe that heron let me get so close!
DeleteI can't wait! I think my favorite is the terns! They must be getting food from people.
ReplyDeleteI'm sure, and fish that are caught, then tossed them to the birds.
DeleteLove the pelican picture with the sparkly water behind them. Nice to see all the birds.
ReplyDeleteThey are entertaining.
DeleteI think the heron was enjoying the attention and a bit of a ham. Maybe that is social distancing for a pelican. They might not need the full 6 feet:))
ReplyDeleteHam would taste better! Lol
DeleteSo nice of the GBH to cooperate...wonderful shots of it. And of course I like all things pelican!
ReplyDeleteMe too...my favorites are the brown pelicans!

DeleteHappy that you were looking up at the FRONT end of that Heron. I find them very interesting and athletic. Good pictures!

DeleteAmazing images. I love the way you captured that sparkling water.
ReplyDeleteThanks Ruth.
DeleteThis is such a beautiful walk. Definitely sparkling..Great close ups of the heron. You have very different gulls than we do here on the West Coast..but I'm sure they are just as squawky and pesty as ours too.
ReplyDeleteWe get 'western' gulls here sometimes.
