Sunday was a quiet day for the two of us. After scrubbing the kitchen floor [el gato vomito], I left to go for a short drive downtown to the closest city park. It was very quiet there. Hardly any birds, and very little wildlife/wildflowers. I left about an hour after I arrived and went back home to eat an early lunch and then watch a TV series. Lazy day.
This is what I saw at the park:
There is a small runoff brook meandering through the center of the park...it's a frog haven most times and an attraction for birds. Early enough and you'd hear a cacophony of birdsong and frogs croaking! Many different trees throughout, with the likes of palm, cypress, mesquite, oak, mulberry, mexican olive, pine, bushes -for instance, mountain laurel and cherry something or other [can't remember the name offhand -its the one shown here with pink flowers]. Wildflowers, tons of sunflowers and turk's cap. The trails are covered with chipped wood, making it quiet and soft on the back/legs. Stone benches. A bridge to cross the brook to the other side of the park on a hill. A drip system for birds, a covered pavilion with a chimney swift chimney -for swifts to nest in... etc. etc.
The way you describe this place; I think I would LIVE there if my home was close. How wonderful.
ReplyDeleteThere are some beautiful homes across the street (late 1800s). Huge, 2-story ones.
DeleteThat sounds like the perfect place to escape to after cleaning el gato vomito.
ReplyDeletePar for the course when you have a cat.
DeleteHow wonderful to have such a lovely place to visit and see so much life and yet it is peaceful enough to listen to nature.
ReplyDeleteStay Safe 🌷 🐦
It's a nice area.
DeleteRibbit! :-)
ReplyDeleteHad to smile. I do that la gato clean up too. Nature can bring normal back to us at least for the moment. When I see squirrels feeding, frogs happy or cattle grazing, I realize they know of nothing different about the days. Kind of gives me comfort.
ReplyDeleteThese cats...gotta love 'em.
DeleteTis such a wonderful time of year for critters!
ReplyDeleteBusy!
DeleteAnd to think, the flowers, birds, frogs and other natural things have no issues with the virus that we all are ploughing through. They do perk up our morale, don't they?
ReplyDeleteThey can indeed!
DeleteBeautiful
ReplyDeleteThanks.
DeleteYou have an eye for spying things most of us would not notice! I suppose that's the artist/photographer in you! I am taking a hike on Wednesday around the perimeter of the ranch. I am totally certain that if YOU were hiking with me I would see so much MORE but I am going to try to look at things through YOUR eyes and see what I can see!
ReplyDeleteTell me all about it. Just wishing I COUKD walk with you!
