It was muggy! The temperature at 7:30 a.m. was 78°. But, I had a great day considering. I tallied up my 10,000 steps at a small community Audubon Sanctuary [they finished a new, very primitive trail], did a bit of birding tho they were not quite awake yet. I then decided to drive down the island highway [Mustang Island State Park is now closed with all other state parks throughout the state of Texas] to see if the rare Aplomado Falcons are once again nesting. They are. At least I think I saw the female laying in the nesting framework built just for them. Afterwards, I drove a couple miles further and stopped at The Willows [one very small pond that is usually a bird haven - not today tho]. One bird, besides a grackle and dove, was seen...an immature Black Crowned Night Heron. I left for home when I walked the pond twice, seeing nothing more. Ahhhhhh, refreshing air conditioning in the car. I could've driven forever!! Once back into town after crossing the causeway bridge, I decided to don my mask once again and stop at the organic farmer's market. Got some fresh red raspberries, two quarts of fresh picked strawberries, and a pound of asparagus. [Bud and I love steamed asparagus!!]. I also purchased some muffins for Bud and a new item I have had on my bucket list for decades to taste! I got everything home, and I'll tell you about my bucket list item in another post. In fact, this day will probably turn into two or three posts.
After lunch I cooked a pasta dish with beef brisket and baked some crusty bread. We had the pasta, tossed salad, asparagus, and crusty bread for dinner [the pasta is better when cooked early to set and the flavors mingle for several hours]....
I also did four rows of my crocheting before my one half hour of TV during the day. I'm still a jeopardy fan. Try and watch it daily, if I'm home. I like seeing how many I can answer. Okay, the scenes of the newly opened trail. Keep in mind it's very primitive as I mentioned...on purpose for the natural environment. Then, in another post I'll share the few birds [some, not all], the Willows, and flowers in the park I stopped at first. You may notice low-lying clouds along the trail...I think I mentioned just how muggy it was!!!

The sun is my favorite, in all it's pink glory. I cannot imagine why you have waited so many years to try a particular food!!!
ReplyDeleteMaybe a primitive trail but still looks like one that is easy to follow.
ReplyDeleteYou got me kind of hungry with the cooking you did.
Beautiful.
ReplyDeleteHello, interesting looking trail. Love the shot of the sun. Your dinner sounds delicious! Take care, wishing you a great day!
ReplyDeleteWhat a nice trail! Your descriptions of food has me getting hungry. Have a nice day today whatever you do ~ FlowerLady
ReplyDeleteHope you too are enjoying your day.
Deletethese days just saying the word food makes me hungry. I am battling the desire to stress eat. winning so far. I like the new primitive park, a place I would love to walk. we are muggy also, 78 and humidity 97. we walked big boy, I started out again and got 1/2 block and came back. bob said that was a quick mile. I said the humidty and my headache plus my gottawanna died, made me come home. I will go in the pool and exercise soon... can't wait to find out what food you are trying for the first time
ReplyDeleteLike gottawanna!
DeleteIt sure does look muggy. It also looks like you don't have to worry about many other people out and about. Not so here, everyone is wanting to be in the sunshine while it lasts. No rain for a change! :-)
ReplyDeleteYa, I can find a few places that are void of humans.
DeleteI can feel the humidity running between my shoulder blades! I do not like humidity! The photo of the tree trunks lining the path is my favorite today. Good for you getting your walk in besides enjoying the environment so well.
ReplyDeleteI don't like humidity either. But, I'll take that instead of long cold winters with snow.
DeleteWhat a productive day and that meal has my mouth watering. Some how tuna fish doesn't sound all that good now. Gee thanks.
ReplyDeleteIt does look muggy and it appears the birds are social distancing also.
We had tuna salad just the other Day for lunch!
DeleteYou are a very ambitious lady!
ReplyDeleteUp early and 10,000 steps already wow!
Your photos are so wonderful.
I love looking at the beauty around you.
Stay Safe and have a beautiful day 🌷
It's even more pretty on cooler days with blue sky. Lol
DeleteBeautiful pictures as always, Anni. Isn't it funny how simply driving in a car now is a luxury? Perhaps its a lesson we all needed. Love, Andrea xoxo
ReplyDeleteIt was the A.C. that felt mighty good!
DeleteIt was 93 yesterday! In 70's today with the doors open. Your food sounds amazing! I have a crock pot chicken in cooking. Chicken breasts, dry Ranch dressing mix, can of Rotel tomatoes and a block 0f cream cheese. If it tasts as good as it smells it will be a winner!!
ReplyDeleteSounds delicious!
DeleteFirst, before I forget...what are the trees in the 8th shot? I enjoyed all your shots, but I love that one. It looks so hot and muggy in those pictures...I can almost feel my clothes sticking to me by just looking at them!
ReplyDeleteThe trees are Live Oak
DeleteThe park looks like a great place to watch nature.
ReplyDeleteIt could be on a lucky day.
