Everyone has no doubt heard of Red Sky in the morning, sailors warning: meaning a stormy day, well we had them both. A red sky and a heavy rainfall by mid-afternoon. From then on, it was a steam bath outside. But here is the storm brewing out in the Gulf; moving into Corpus taken from our driveway...

...after the rain came

Then, a biblical quote of the same meaning as red sky in the morning poem....
In Matthew 16: 2 and 3 Jesus says:
When it is evening, you say, "It will be fair weather; for the sky is red."
And in the morning, "It will be stormy today, for the sky is red and threatening."
I never knew the source of the red sky in the morning.. some how I missed these verse. beautiful storm shots..glad to see and hear you felt no ill effects other than steam bath from Fernand. I watched him while I watched Dorian... we are living in a pressure cooker here. yesterday at 5 am going to the Ymca our car thermometer said 85, we are waking up high and going in 90's every day, humidity can be touched or so it feels. today we woke up to 76 because we had a 10 minute rain at 7 pm last night, but right back to 90's today..
ReplyDeleteThat source is of the King James version; my go-to reference.
DeleteThat is some sky. Wonderful shots. I had no idea that was in the bible
ReplyDeleteI was born & raised by a VERY religious mother.
DeleteSuch beautiful colors! And the rain spattered flowers, too. :-)
ReplyDeleteI love raindrops on petals.
DeleteI'm surprised about the Bible link also. Love water drops on flowers. Just a cool, refreshing look.
ReplyDeleteGorgeous sky photos!! I believe this saying is based on the bible quote. I think the first and last are my favorites (of the ones in the collage). Plus a gorgeous bonus of a Moonflower and hibiscus! I count on you to keep me loaded with flowers and beautiful birds and skies in the deep dreary winter.
ReplyDeleteYes, I'm sure it IS first written in the bible
DeleteBack in my time, this was the only way we checked the weather. My mother taught us about "red in the morning, etc. Our dad went by the Farmer's Almanac.
ReplyDeleteYes, I think farmer's almanac is still used widely.
DeleteGreat pictures both of the sky and those moisture laden flowers.
ReplyDeleteThanks Ruth.
DeleteI love a good storm! Your photos are always so beautiful that I wish I could walk right into them!
ReplyDeleteThat is a great way to describe your joy...glad you liked them Linda.
