I left at six thirty, the sky was overcast, it was warm and humid. But no threat of a storm at least at home. I stopped to get the car filled with gas. Once I finished, I hopped back in the car, waiting at the traffic light...the lightning was flashing, the windshield was showing signs of some sprinkles here and there. Once the light turned green for me, I accelerated and...bam! The clouds opened up and buckets of rain fell.* I had a difficult time seeing in front of the car. I drove on. By the time I got to the causeway bridge, I left the storm behind me. Once at the 1st access road and on the beach for sunrise, I looked behind where I had come from....To get to the islands I had to drive through this storm....

....and the sky at the west was ominous, and the sky over the Gulf to the east was beautiful!!!

I took out my lensball....

I left...drove to Port A and saw these sights along the way. The heavy, dark clouds remained spotty and the sun tried its best to win the contested storm front....

Rainbows were seen oftentimes when it would clear off now and then and the sun peeked out from the clouds. I walked with my umbrella in my hand [more to protect my camera] and then...headed home.
* This storm is NOT Imelda that hit Houston yesterday. It was about a week prior.

Oh, what gorgeous photos, Anni! It always amazes me how violent weather can produce such beauty. You were very brave in forging ahead despite the impending storm. You were rewarded with some wonderful sights. Thank you for sharing them with us. Love, Andrea xoxo
ReplyDeleteIt's always pretty AFTER the storm.
DeleteHaving the sky open up on me like it did for you probably would have made me turn around. Good thing you aren't as wimpy as I am...lol YOu got some fantastic shots
ReplyDeleteAround here you can usually drive a short way and get out of the storm.
DeleteI just love the clouds!
ReplyDeleteMe too Jenn

Deletethis is so much like what we see here often. look one way and see storm and another and see bright skies. I love that about being here and would love your neck of the woods also... often I will drive through a storm and out and back through another in a 10 mile stretch of road.. all of your photos today are stunning. my favorie is the one just above the first ball photo. the one with the waves rolling and that gorgeous sky
ReplyDeleteThe storm made a beautiful sky.
DeleteHow different it can be during and then after a storm. Really great captures of the kinder gentler day plus the angry one. Stay safe.
ReplyDeleteIndeed, lots of anger in those storm clouds
