A walk on the lawn, in our yard. What blooms at home for the first time, this season. Our back yard is full of color right now...

A few Red Roses
Yellow Rose of Tombstone [Lady Banks, aka Tombstone Rose] This rose is one of my favorites, I love the tiny, half dollar size, blossoms and the numbers of blooms...many on one branch in groupings, and a profuse bloomer, the delicate butter-yellow color [they also come in pink I believe, and maybe white...not sure]...and the fact that it vines in long tendrils giving the illusion of a weeping willow, plus NO THORNS!!!

A new potted plant on the patio. This plant did not have a name tag/label so, I'm not sure the species. It looks to be related to a Christmas cactus.

The first blooming of my amaryllis

The first of my cactus I dug out and moved with us, from Tucson to Texas. I have since thinned out the one potted cactus into five pots. I love the bright, hot pink color.
Also, there is an orange firebush, a white gardenia [still budding, not blooming yet], two red geraniums, pastel pink, rose-color, yellow, orange, and red hibiscus, a purple duranta and mauve bougainvillea, two red bougainvilleas, mexican bird of paradise, bird of paradise [it rarely blooms any more, it needs to be thinned out desparately], and the strawberry and cream crepe myrtle that is just now getting new leaves. It will bloom later this year in late Spring. My three Easter Lilies in the front yard have buds, but will be later than Easter in blooming. The list of plants, bushes, trees, goes on.
By the time our yard quiets down in producing color and blooms, those of you up north will just be beginning your summer-time growth. Why, in South Texas we have home grown, on the vine, ripe tomatoes by late April; early May when most of the country are just planting them!!
HAPPY EASTER!
HAPPY EASTER!
Your yard is full of wonderful things and why would it not Princess Rosalind of Hawk Cliff? I love your princess name more than any of the others generated. so appropriate. I love all Cactus flowers. sadly, our yard should be like yours, there are 3 orange hibiscus blooms, our grass is dead and even the bushes are in bad shape. we need rain so badly.
ReplyDelete...and so many other parts in Florida (and other areas of U S) are flooding.
DeleteSo very beautiful! And you're right about the tomatoes. I'll put mine in the ground late this week and you'll already be harvesting them! :-)
ReplyDeleteWell, I won't per sé, but I'll be at the farmers market in a week or two!
DeleteOh my gosh, your yard must be like paradise!! I would love to see a picture of the entire yard. I don't think I have ever seen a blooming Pomegranate...didn't even know they had blooms. This one is gorgeous!! And what a sweet Texas Rose. It would be such a treat to walk through your yard. I hope you both have a wonderful day.
ReplyDeleteIt would be difficult getting the whole yard in one picture..
DeleteHappy Easter to you both as well! Lovely that you have roses! They don’t do well here.
ReplyDeleteThey don't do well here either. Too wet.
DeleteHappy Easter right back at ya. What lovely color and variety you are surrounded by. You have sold me on definitely getting an Amaryllis next year.
ReplyDeleteI used to have them potted in Colorado, but here...in the ground year 'round.
DeleteWow - your flowers are just beautiful! Happy Easter to you and Bud!
ReplyDeleteThanks Mari! Hope you & your family are having a super Easter & the girls are finding the Easter bunny left 'em all kinds of happy!
DeleteBeautiful and colourful. Thanks for sharing these.
ReplyDeleteThanks Ruth
DeleteIt's all so pretty. I have very few flowers in my yard because I am horrible at gardening. I wish I had a green thumb
ReplyDelete...and working outside the home doesn't help.
