Have you heard of or perhaps have the now 'popular' wax warmers? Have you noticed the dozens of wax cubes boxed? With dozens upon dozens of different fragrances and scents? To be honest, I've seen only the wax cubes and really, then, never paid any attention. Until I was at the grocery store, in the 'seasonal' asile to check out the Autumn wares on sale. I spied something that was destined to come home with me. A ceramic owl in tones of brown and gold. I inspected the owl even further and noticed the ones in boxes, behind the display, that they were WAX WARMERS! And, since then, I've actually seen many many more scentsational figurine warmers in all shapes, all sizes, and some are really quite cute."Hmmm, so that is what those little cubes of wax are!!"

Well, me being me, I just couldn't just sit the little owl out in the open, all by itself. I went to the dollar store, and bought a clear glass bowl and salad plate. Along with blue glass and natural tone rocks. Then, filled the bowl and glued the plate to the bowl, and after drying, I then placed some more brownstone rock along the salad plate to surround the owl. Here's what I came up with:

Lights on....lights off
And the first wax cube I tested was Moonlight Walk...very nice, subtle fragrance. Not over-powering at all, And, the cube can be used over and over once melted. Only clean out the melted wax when the scent is no longer noticeable. Oh, and use as according to directions...let the warmer work only an hour at a time to avoid burning and/or fire.
You really fancied this owl up! So pretty, you are such a good crafter. Now, if only I could smell it...
ReplyDeleteThis makes the whole house smell nice
DeleteI like what you did with the plate and bowl. It made a great stand for your wax warmer. I have an all white owl wax warmer and several others too. I never knew you were only supposed to have them on for an hour. I've had my on all day before.
ReplyDeleteThe box says just an hour at a time...I guess may be it is the wattage? Dunno for sure.
Deletehe really is a cute owl and that is truly creative to make him stand out more. I am allergic to scented candles or wax or anything including the things they hang in cars. I have seen the wax but when I pass through the aisle where they are have to hold my breathe, so can't look at them long. he would be cute to have just as décor without wax
ReplyDeleteWow...the was cubes I see are sealed in plastic. I can't smell them unless the seal is broken open.
DeleteOf course you wouldn't want him to be all alone! :-)
ReplyDeletelol. I think I do stuff like this out of boredom.
DeleteHealth issues prevent us from using any candles or wax fragrance holders, but he sure is a sweet bird in your home. Nice creative enhancement. I like his belly button!
ReplyDeleteSome fragrances (mostly perfumes mixed with human scents) give splitting headaches. Many men & women over do it, and nausea sets in.
DeleteYou truly have an artistic temperament. Me, I would have just plopped the owl down put the wax in and turn it on. Your way is much better and sorry to say, it would never occur to me to finish it out like you did.
ReplyDeleteBud, like you...in fact, he said 'what did you do all that for?'
DeleteI have a wax melter and like the scents. Not near as cute as your owl!
ReplyDeleteWhat a cute way to display this little owl! Now you have me thinking that I should try some of those wax warmers and cubes.
ReplyDeleteA nice memory reminder from years ago. Making candles was the thing to do... We would buy the molds then pour in the wax... finishing them off with various things. It was fun. Apparently not "in" any more to do, or at least I have not seen it. I did an owl myself!!!
ReplyDeleteSo cute! Very creative!
ReplyDeleteI like it, but scents make my husband sneeze. The only thing he likes to smell is food cooking!
Have a great weekend!
Good morning, you bring a great old movie to thought! The owls have it, they are wonderful. Enjoy your tasty treats and autumn fun this weekend!
