Got a good reason For taking the easy way out

Let me begin with my book review on the latest newly released book I bought at Barnes and Noble. Wow...what can I say? I'm really not sure just WHAT I read...it was pretty jumbled; the author skipped around so much I wasn't sure what way was up by the time I finished reading each day. It didn't much improve. Aside from the historical characters, Prime Minister of England, Neville Chamberlain and Adolf Hitler, I again wasn't sure who was who and at times, in certain chapters, just which character the author was trying to verbalize. It took place in the 1930s with Hitler declaring he would demolish and possess Czechoslovakia while Chamberlain and French dignitaries tried to persuade Hitler for peace. I guess. There were also two 'main' side-kicks in the novel, Legat and Hartmann...at first I thought they were both spies....then, another time one even said "I'm not a good spy"....but, what the heck were these two in the story for in the first place? At the end of the book...I still don't know. It was a messy book...didn't make much sense at all. And a waste of paper if you want my opinion.  Of course, I had to finish what I started, from the beginning to the end...why, I don't know.  I just hope my next book I pick up will be better.

CELL PHONE PHOTOS

While I was watering the plants and soaking the pots on the patio I pulled out my cell phone from my pocket and took photos...

Mexican Bird of Paradise and their seed pods...

Roses...they don't do too well in the extreme temps...

...hibiscus buds, just opening for the day

...my strawberries and cream crepe myrtle [one of my favorites in the back yard]

My night bloomer [epiphylum] surprised me as I rounded the corner to see it blooming!! One pot had three saucer sized blossoms!! [the one in the middle is my trumpet vine]

Okay, I'm done with the watering.  The sprinkler system and soaker hose around the foundation of the house is set an ready to turn on... time to head back in. The heat index is gonna soar into the 110 degree range again!! A/C already on at 68!! Oh, the electricity bill!! I wanna make sure I'm sitting down when I open that up...it's gonna be scary!!!

  1. There are a lot of crepe myrtles around here, but I have never seen this strawberries and cream one. It is beautiful, and aptly named. Your roses look so beautiful, despite the awful heat! I have never seen a Mexican Bird Of Paradise flower, it is spectacular!!

  2. You make really great photos with your phone camera. The flowers are so vibrant and wonderful looking. We don+t have sprinklers in our house so we have to water them every day manually. :D

  3. I hate books that jump around like that. There have been a couple books that I've really disliked but finished reading any way but then there's been a few that after a chapter or two I just couldn't punish myself any longer.
All your flowers are so pretty. I really like that Mexican Bird of Paradise.

  4. we have all these in our yard to except no crepe myrtle. and our night bloomer is a little different. we call the Mexican b of P Dwarf Poinciana... and we don't have blooms right now. the drought killed them back... our shudder to think what our AC bill is going to be... you and your phone did a superb job of showing us your flowers.

    1. We had the bird of paradise in Tucson & that's desert with NO rain...they thrived! Mine are from seeds from our yard in Tucson...they may be a drought resistant species.

  5. Thanks for the review. That's one I'll skip, for sure. And that crepe myrtle is just beautiful! Keep yourself hydrated and inside, friend. We are not used to our temps being close to or in the 90s, and that's what we've got ahead. At least it cools down here every night just fine. :-)

  14. A friend of mine says one should give a book at least 100 pages before deciding to quit reading. Sometimes it is a struggle to get that far...and a few times it was worth it and the book really did become enjoyable. I am afraid the one you reviewed would have been one that had to be discarded. Your flowers are lovely.

  15. I commend you for completing the book. I could not have done it.
Your flowers are beautiful. I had to chuckle at the 68 on your a/c...we do the very same thing when the hots are predicted. go ahead and cool things down because once it gets hot upstairs there is not cooling. Hugs madi and mom
