~9/11/2018 * Patriots' Day

flood of 2018

It's been on national news...everywhere I look the last couple of days...water. Yes, if you heard or read the news from our vicinity of Texas, Corpus Christi received a whopping 12-14 inches of rain in two days! Flooding. Water began to come into our home through the patio door and back door being that that wall is lower to the ground. We were lucky tho...some had it much worse. While at the grocery store, my car was nearly flooded...water line up to the door frame in 30-45 minutes!!! All I have to do, once it clears out, is to get the carpet dried. Mold and mildew is bound to show up quickly in this humid clime!! AND...what do we have to look forward to next? The influx of MOSQUITOES!! Goody.

if you'd like to get a view of the devastation, click here. It may take a while to load, quite long.

Our yard and front street...

I didn't get very far on Wednesday afternoon when there was a lull in the storm fronts...

...road closures, flooded underpasses and water everywhere!

Our First Lady, Melania Trump came to Texas today!! She wanted to see first-hand the detention centers and treatment. Now, I just hafta say this even tho the media tends to blame President Trump.... these immigration laws are NOT HIS...they were passed by Congress in the 1980s!!!  And he is trying to change them to be more humane.
Oh, and another thing...at the time the laws were drafted and passed, it was a Democrat run Congress!!!

  1. I hope you get your home and rug dried out successfully. Those immigration laws have been in place for decades, as you said.

  4. Wow - that is a lot of water! I'm sorry you ended up with some in the house, but glad it wasn't worse!
The media is making me crazy with all this talk of the detention camps and no comment as to who started it!

    1. Oh me too on the media/immigration. It's been a part of life in the SW & Canadian borders for decades & the media thinks (or tells us) this is all NEW to our country?!!

  5. I've been thinking about you my dear friend as I see all that flooding on TV. Glad you and Bud are okay. We have only had showers here. I know what a lot of water can do except mine was from a break behind the commode several years ago.

  7. All that water!!! I hope it goes away soon and you don't have too much damage. Yes I agree about the immigration laws. The media is driving me crazy!!! It has brought out the worst in many and the things said are horrendous. People need to chill and realize Trump is trying to make things better for everyone. I voted for him and am not disappointed in what he tries to do. I just wish he would keep his tweeting to a minimum, lol... hugs, lj

    1. Don't get me started on his tweets!! He likes to rile the media by this outlet & I get a kick out of it 'cause he's accomplishing what he wants to do...rile us.

  8. Thank you Anni for knowing your country's history, people like to conveniently forget? But! Those floods, I hope this is the end of it and that the waters receded, on fronts literal and figurative.
