Life size Nativity in town...

Sunday morning before the football games were televised, I had to get to the store to buy some groceries for snacking and dinner that night. The sun was out, the sky was clear, and before we headed to the store, we drove to a home in town that was shown on the local news. The owner of the home has annually created a Christmas yard display...adding to it every year. I admit, we were there many years ago, and when we found the house this year, IT WAS INCREDIBLE!! Let me describe it a bit first. In his yard, he builds his own stable, using natural-found things with the likes of palm fronds, spanish moss, driftwood and stone. EVERYTHING he creates is life-sized!

- - -  On the opposite side of town there is a large neighborhood that is called Candy Cane Lane [not just one street, but several] that is decorated with lights!!!!

More of our tree with lights glowing on the decorations - angels, icicles, ornaments and snowflakes...

Ann, at Ann's Snap Edit Scrap showed us a project she tried with Dollar Tree purchases; making gnomes. I thought they were so cute, I had to try it. Altho, I had no beard items, I improvised and used what I had on hand...cotton balls for the beard.

  1. Your gnome is really cute! I would never thought of using cotton balls! But they work wonderfully. The pictures of your tree are beautiful. But Oh MY, this nativity!! This man is a real craftsman. And the details are so wonderful.

  2. Oh my goodness, that is such an amazing nativity. Love the doves :) Very pretty tree and that gnome is just the cutest thing!

  3. WOW, that nativity is simply amazing. Your gnome is adorable. I love how you did the beard with cotton.

  4. I agree that the Nativity scene is incredible. I love your gnome, too. Gosh, everybody already said everything I've been thinking. :-)

  5. Hello, the nativity scene is amazing. I love all the Christmas lights and decorations. Everything looks so festive. Happy Friday, enjoy your weekend!

  6. the nativity creator is super talented. i just love it, every single piece of it. i went through the slide show twice. amazing display. your gnome is adorable, makes his beard curly with the cotton balls. and i like the tall hat.

  7. Looks as if Christmas has arrived in your area. I like the "making do" with cotton balls for the beard.

  8. That life sized nativity is pretty amazing. I enjoy seeing these things, but oh the work it must be to create that.

  9. Looks like your neighborhood really goes all out! That's a tremendous amount of work that must have gone into the Christmas yard display. Amazing!!

  10. That nativity scene is really nice. We have a Candy Cane Lane in our area too.
    Your gnome is adorable!

  11. Thank you for sharing the Christmas displays. The nativity is my favorite. That took some real talent! I could look at that for a long time and am going back now to look at it some more!
    Love your gnome!

  12. what pretty decorations and displays! I like the candy canes The gnome looks great

  13. Very bright, colorful and most of all, CREATIVE! Wonderful to experience first hand, I'll bet! How nice for people to share their Christmas displays so well.

  14. Lovely photographs and wonderful work done on behalf of the Christmas season. The Gardens here are all aglow at night, with the new white snow creating the perfect scene.

  15. I love that nativity!!!! And we have a Candy Lane in Terre Haute, but I have not been there in years!
