Rainy Days and Thursday....

I had to get some thread for the sewing machine for an upcoming holiday project. While there at the store, near the check-out stand, I saw these and couldn't resist buying one!

An upcoming holiday project? you ask...

Here are the pieces parts. Can you guess?

And, speaking of pieces parts. During the cold, wet, rainy days of Coastal winter,  the two of us can be found working on a yearly thing...

According to the local weather, South Texas is once again in the La Nina frame of weather patterns. Which means, we're gonna have another warm winter. In other words, not many cold days before the summer temps are upon us again. I sure hope they're mistaken!!!!! Anyway, I was out walking along the Sunset Lakes Trail, and on this particular day, El Nino came into play!! Wet, heavy rains. Altho, as I watched the cloud cover boiling above me, and decided to head back to the car before I got drenched, I made it just in time. A micro-burst saturated the area in a heavy downpour. In fact, all the way home as i drove on the freeway...rain!

The turtles didn't seem to care about the weather, one way or another...

...my camera was getting wet! Time to lock up and get home where it's dry. [Not so...it was raining heavily at home too!]  Our area of town rec'd about 1 1/2 inches of rain, where the one news station is reported to have rec'd about THREE inches of rain from this front, while the downtown, airport, and islands didn't get ANY rain.

    The flowers are wonderful!!
    I like puzzles too.
And the turtles are so adorable!!
Better put away your camera than getting it wet!
    Have a nice day!

  3. That's a LOT of rain. We just had a sprinkle or two yesterday, and we are also going to have La Nina affect our winter temperatures, it seems. You will be warmer, we will be colder and wetter. Sigh. What can you do? Enjoy it, I guess! :-)

  4. For years and years I kept a puzzle going in the den. The last one was a Christmas puzzle and would you believe we are STILL working on it?? It’s on a big board and usually sits on the baby grand piano. I am bound and determined to get that sucker finished this year!
I would prefer some winter weather! Still had the AC on yesterday!

  5. I have a friend who has an entire room designated as her "Puzzle Room" and she does many and very quickly. Her husband has a hard time keeping her supply replenished! I hear you about protecting your camera. I learned never to cover the lens immediately after coming indoors after being outside in cold or wet weather. I like your Christmas Cactus!

The blooms are abundant and a beautiful color. Are you making a Christmas quilt? How will you get it done in time?

  8. I used to have a Christmas cactus. Kept alive for years before I finally killed it. It put up with me longer than most plants do..
Looks like the makings for a Christmas quilt.
I haven't done a puzzle in years. I was looking at them in the store recently and couldn't believe how expensive they are

  10. We just had an absolute downpour...for about a minute, but if a person had been it, they would have been saturated!

I love puzzles...I have a 2,000 piece one I want to work, but if I get it out, I cannot leave it alone. So may wait till after the holidays.

I am wondering what you are going to make with those Christmas fabrics....tree skirt? Table topper? Potholders for gifts???
