Two butterflies

Walking along the many trails of the Botanical Gardens this past week, early in the morning, only few birds were seen [coots, grebes, stilts, pelicans, ducks, and woodpeckers], I continued to view the wildlife photo exhibit boards nestled in the trees...the last photo of the praying mantis silhouette on the moon's light happens to be my favorite of all the dozens of photo entries. The winner of all the entries was reported last month, October, but I haven't read which one it was.  I also walked around the caged parrots and iguanas and then ventured into the gift shop...

  1. I would like to see the gift shop! But they might not have liked people taking photos in there. Yes, I love the mantis with the moon behind. And the windmill. But I think my favorite is the gorgeous pink flower!

    1. I'm too busy looking at their gifts to take pictures...I'm sure they wouldn't mind tho...they're pretty lenient here.

  2. The moon shot with mantis is very unique. I would love to browse the gift shop. We have a lot of butterfly items in our decor and have enjoyed a variety of butterflies in our garden this summer. So delightful to view these pictures this morning. I wish you a good day and a pleasant weekend.

    1. Well, I would say they migrated, but I'm sure since it's Florida, they just moved to another locale.

  6. The least grebe in the reeds is my favorite! I thinks it wonderful how young and old take such delight in spotting critters! Yesterday I went with Amber to pick the quads up after school. Harrison spotted a bunny rabbit in the bushes and we spent the better part of 15 minutes watching and following it. Good clean fun all around!

  8. I enjoy seeing the color of the blossom and the butterfly. Our weather is cold and all is now brown. Though I enjoy this time of year very much, I do sometime miss the colors of summer.

  12. Good morning and thanks for sharing such lovely nature moments. Butterflies and blossoms are pretty much gone for now, as winter pushed it way into our autumn. We should be back in some 50's by Tuesday but won't expect it to last for long.
