WEDNESDAY HODGEPODGE
Joyce has these questions for us:
1. When did you last sing happy birthday to someone? When were you last sung to? Does that embarrass you or do you enjoy being the center of attention on your special day? I sing it to my sister each year...over the phone!! And she does the same to me. As for being the center of attention?------no, I like being in the background. A flower on the wall. I don't think I'd be embarrassed, but a bit ticked off more than anything. 'Cause everyone that knows me, knows better.
2. Name a famous or 'infamous' person (living or deceased) who shares your birth day and month. Is that someone you'd like to meet in person if it were possible? Here's a list I found online of my birthday celebs - - Famous People [link should open in a new window]...the only one I was sure of was Mia Farrow. And in all honesty, the ones listed, who would I like to meet?---None of the Above.
3. Someone hands you a box tied up in a lovely bow...what are you hoping to find inside? A whole slew of things could be inside...diamonds, money, round trip ticket to Europe, car keys to a new vehicle. Just 'bout anything would do. ;o)
4. What can you guarantee about yourself? Me, being me!!!
5. Talking art and beautiful cities here...'The Last Supper' in the Santa Maria della Grazie Abbey in Milan Italy or 'The Mona Lisa' in The Louvre, Paris...which would you most like to see up close and in person? Why? The Mona Lisa. Probably 'cause there is so much mystery behind the work, and the artist was a scientific genius!! And Paris....no one could go wrong visiting there, right?
6. Your favorite dessert? PIE!!! In particular, cherry, pumpkin, apple, and most of all Blackberry pie. Mmmmm, mmmm, mmm!
7. This coming weekend marks the official start of autumn (in the Northern hemisphere)...what is something you do to get ready for fall? What is one thing you're looking forward to on your fall calendar? Spring or fall-which do you prefer? Things I do for Autumn? Look forward to cooler days ahead! Decorate for Halloween. And having part of the question being a preference of Spring or Fall -- I can honestly say both seasons are the two best for me. Spring 'cause of flowers and bird migrations. Autumn 'cause of Halloween and bird migration!! Oh ya, and here in South Texas our "Autumn like weather" isn't here 'til it's nearing Christmas. We only get about a month of Winter; and mild at that!!!
8. Insert your own random thought here. I received this in my email inbox and just had to share! Of course, the "F" word is often used throughout, but to keep this a family friendly blog post I changed the "F" word to "frigging"....
Computer Issues/Passwords
Setting your password on your online stuff and its issues you face between the server [in bold] and the user [in normal text]:
Sorry that password has expired- you must register a new one.
Did anyone discover that password and hack my computer?
No, but your password has expired- you must get a new one.
Why then do I need a new one as that one seems to be working pretty good?
Well, you must get a new one as they automatically expire every 30 days.
Can I use the old one and just re-register it?
No, you must get a new one.
I don't want a new one as that is one more thing for me to remember.
Sorry, you must get a new one.

Hello Anni...
ReplyDeleteThese are wonderful photos !! Great !
Greetings
More amazing shots! I love the third picture.
ReplyDeleteI was just complaining about passwords yesterday. Our charting at work is done online, and lately they've been making me change my password way too often - drives me crazy! And then I have to remember it too. :)
...y'know something Mari? I think we were visiting each other's blogs at the same time. I clicked publish on YOUR comments and minimized the window only to find you had just commented on MINE.
DeleteFunny! Tell Bud he's a smart one. The hood ornament was indeed from a Pierce Arrow. I had never heard of them before - pretty classy cars!
DeleteI've heard of them, but have never seen one.
DeleteWonderful catch of the great blue heron with a meal! Yeah, the password thing is so annoying. Making you change it every 30 days is bad enough, but why don't they tell you up front they require 1 capital letter, a numeral, 12 digits, and a friggin character?! Grrrrrrr
ReplyDelete...I don't think I've ever had to do this with a password. Thank goodness.
DeleteHAHA about the password - been there and done that. I love that you sing HB to your sister I just did it to my sister. I am a cake lover myself.
ReplyDeleteAnd I love the bird who got the fish!
sandie
I got to watch it hunt it down and then catch it and fly away with its prize!! No, not me, I could pass on cake for the rest of my life.
DeleteHAHAHAHA!!! What a great laugh. And #4 from your list is my favorite~
ReplyDelete:::humming now:::: " I gotta be me, what else can I be " LOL
DeleteHi....Leave It To Davis here......miss all u bloggers.....especially u! in case u wondered what happened to me.....I was on my blog......reading all everyones posts when I got a code sent to my phone.....which is what happens when I am signing onto my blog.....so someone ELSE was trying to get into my blog. I had some weird things going on with my computer.....Picasa to be exact......picture thumnails duplicating like crazy.....so I got scared off again. All the weird things stopped when I deleted my blog. But gosh do I miss u all. Love ur post. My hubby is just like u on the happy bithday singing.
ReplyDelete...I was wondering about you. Now, tell me, are you gonna set up a new blog?!! Inquiring minds wanna know!
DeleteWhat a great catch, for the bird and you!
ReplyDelete...now that you put it that way, you're right. I WAS definitely lucky that day tho.
DeleteGreat action shots!! Boom & Gary of the Vermilon River, Canada.
ReplyDelete...thanks Gary
DeleteI really like the Heron with the fish in it's beak. From Findlay
ReplyDeleteI was privileged watching it...it hunted it down and then captured it and took off.
DeleteThis is SO funny!!! I LOVE your Egret in flight, he looks like he s wearing yellow shoes!!!
ReplyDeleteFunny? As in the password stuff? I thought it was hilarious too. Yep, the yellow shoes always help me id the egret....'don't eat yellow snow'...as in snowy egret. LOL
Delete...as are YOU sweet Denise.
ReplyDeleteHi Anni...oh you cracked us up with the password thing.
ReplyDeleteMom's pet peeve is changing her password....it took her forever to think of the one they want her to change and now she has to change it again!!
Beautiful photos.
Hugs Madi and Mom
...I don't think I've changed my password in over a year now.
DeleteHa! By the time I got through the frigging password I had forgotten what your pictures were so I could comment. OMG that would be funny if it weren't true ... good grief! As for your awesome in flight bird pictues, now that I have gone back to look, they are great, especially the last one with the fish. The Great Blue seems to be having a better day than your friend with his password, Just sayin'
ReplyDeleteAndrea @ From the Sol
LOL...
Delete...and that is my favorite photo too. I sat and watched this heron hunt down, catch, and fly away with it's prized lunch that day.
Wonderful photos and a groaning laugh at the password fiasco!
ReplyDelete...thanks Nick!
DeleteGreat shots and title. They are all "up and away". The first shot snowy is my favorite, I love them! I enjoyed your post. These are a few celebrities I share my birthday with.. Britney Spears and Lucy Lui and Wonder Women Cathy Lee Crosby.
ReplyDeleteHave a great evening and happy week!
...glad you enjoyed the birds Eileen.
DeleteAnd your birthday co-horts are pretty impressive.
Great flight photos Anni and I laughed out loud when I read the punchline.
ReplyDeleteLOL
Delete...thanks Denise
Fantastic shots of the magnificent birds.
ReplyDelete...thanks Carver
DeleteLove your bird photos.
ReplyDeleteI share a birthday with my aunt and it's always amusing when we see each other on our birthdays. She'll yell happy birthday Annie and I yell back, thanks same to you...lol
...that's cute between you and your Aunt.
DeleteThese action shots (love the last especially) are wonderful, Annie. I like that you are you - and that you like pie. I'm thinking it's time to change my passwords - this runaround is just why I hate doing it!
ReplyDelete...you and me both, a slice of pie and hot tea next to your fireplace in the Colorado Rockies on a Autumn day....that sounds like heaven to me!!
DeleteGreat shots, Anni!
ReplyDelete...thanks Pat
Deletelovely flight shots!
ReplyDelete...thanks Theresa
DeleteThose are beautiful pics! Like the last one with the catch!
ReplyDelete...that seems to be the majority's favorite this week. Thanks!!
DeleteNice flight shots!
ReplyDelete...thanks Gunilla. I enjoyed your Wednesday post too. It was like a long weekend holiday for me.
DeleteI had to laugh at the password!! I think it may have been me who used it!
ReplyDeleteroflmao!!!
DeleteOh, Annie! I SO enjoyed your random thought, and have felt that way so many times when trying to access my on-line banking system :)
ReplyDeleteKathy...did you read the comment just above yours here? You may be one who has tried to use the last password too then? rofl
DeleteHa-the passwords in my head sometimes overwhelm me : ) It's 39 degrees here this morning. I'm definitely not in South Texas!
ReplyDelete...it's 70 something here now. Hot, muggy and promising of rain before the day's out?!!! Actually that 39 sounds pretty good to me after this long hot summer. As long as there is no snow! lol
Deletebahahahahaaaaa!!!!! That whole password ditty is hilarious - and oh, so accurate! Our health insurance company has us create a 16 digit password, that must contain at least 3 capital letters, 5 numbers (but they can't be the same number), and 2 special characters... and we have to change the password every 6 months. You've GOT to be friggin kidding me... ;-)
ReplyDelete....yep, what you said here, so true, so true!!
DeleteLove those pictures, Anni. And your responses always make me smile. Thanks for sharing your smiles with me! :-)
ReplyDelete...and you, dear one, make ME smile when you stop by to visit with me.
DeleteI don't like changing passwords either. Google hates me when I travel because they think I am being hacked. What a pain!
ReplyDelete...Oh I can only imagine the trials when traveling!! With the different locations and all when you try to log in.
DeleteLovely photos...
ReplyDelete...glad to know you enjoyed the photos!!
DeleteNice slide show! So true about the passwords. I had a good laugh!
ReplyDelete...humor is good, right? LOL
DeleteThank you for your wonderful visit to my blog :) and I love the photos here! Also, I am totally with you on the pie - I could eat pie for breakfast, lunch, and dinner lol. Especially pecan pie!
ReplyDelete...me too!!! Pie is considered a 'staple' food. As for pecan, that is Bud's favorite.
DeleteNice captures of the birds! The last 4 sentences in your answer to the first question could have been mine! And the password? Hilarious! I think I might have used that password a time or two, as well! Haha!
ReplyDeleteaha!!! Another one that doesn't like the song sang to them. You and me!!
DeleteGreat set of images of birds.
ReplyDelete...thanks Rajesh
DeleteI needed that laugh today, Anni...thanks! I've had more than my share of issues with trying to change my passwords...UGH! Have a super Wednesday!
ReplyDelete...April, have a great day yourself!! Glad the laughter helped a bit. :o)
DeleteLol..... made me chuckle
ReplyDelete...it was too funny not to share in the laughter with you Dave.
Deletethe password email is absolutely hilarious ...and very relatable!!! (relate-able? able to be related to??!?!?!). :)
ReplyDeleteOh dear....Conny, I can't find your blog so I can repay you a visit today. :o(
DeleteThat Heron can't possible swallow his big fish!! He must have stomped on it and ripped it apart to eat it.
ReplyDelete1. My husband turned 78 here at the beach so 8 of us got together with a cake that was won by one of us at Bingo and we sat at a picnic table while singing Happy Birthday to him. The same thing happened in March when we were at the beach and everyone sang to me. I really hate to be pointed out.
2. I've never been interested in ANYONE else who shares my birthday month or day, celeb or not.
3. I would like to find something very simple that only I would pick out for myself. NEVER anything costly - perhaps seeds?
4. I can guarantee that I will always strive for perfection, well knowing that not much can ever be perfect.
5. Art is in the eye of the artist and I would rather see Vincent van Gogh or Salvador Dali or works of Pablo Picasso than any other. Italy would be my preference to visit, then Ireland and Egypt.
6. My favorite dessert is definitely cookies! Homemade only. As many as I can eat.
7. Fall brings comfortably cool days and breezes without so much humidity. I prefer Spring with all things coming back and being renewed.
8. Random thought: I would like to be able to return as a "fly on the wall" and see how people will be living 500 years from now. I'll even bet that their third, ring and pinky fingers will be getting shorter as they will be unnecessary projections of the hands.
And......Why am I the only one that is compelled to answer ALL of the Wednesday Hodgepodge here?
And......I MISS LEAVE IT TO DAVIS!
...they're not MY questions...Wednesday Hodgepodge is a meme where you'll find the link on my sidebar in the "memes" list. Click on it and you'll find the questions for the week, answer the questions on your blog and then link up at Joyce's blog
DeleteThank you..I'll try it.
Deleteyou're so very welcome
DeleteNow I may try to save you time and trouble by replying in the correct manner! And...I think you couldn't see my experiment of an embedded video on my blog is because I used a code that was shared to me but there were privacy issues involved via Facebook where it originated. Guess i'll have to try better options!
Delete...that is probably true. If there are copyright issues with FB then, it's not gonna work on blogger.
DeleteI just love pictures of birds with fishing beak; success!
ReplyDeleteHee hee hee hee hee hee! I can't tell you how many times the "password that doesn't even last the semester" demon has gotten me in my school email. I've never tried that last password… but oh, it's taken anyway. ;-)
LOL...now that last part [sentence] is too darned funny.
DeleteOh wow... Fantastic photos... Love the heron. Thank you for linking into Nature Notes Anni... Michelle
ReplyDelete...thanks for hosting Michelle
DeleteThat email was funny! It's so true. Having to have a password for everything is annoying enough, now they have to use certain characters, and then you just can't remember them. Argh!
ReplyDeleteGood Morning, Love that last 'funny' about passwords. There is really so much truth to that... I laughed and laughed....
ReplyDeleteHere are my answers to the questions:
1. I sang to my oldest son on July 18 on the phone... He turned 50.
2. My cousin and I share a birthday --but she is YOUNGER (who isn't????? ha)
3. Oh that is easy: an iPhone... We are talking about getting one --but it's only in the talking stages.. We have not made the move to a SMART phone.
4. I will love George 'til the day I die --and will do everything I can to make him happy, healthy and let him know how much I adore him...
5. The Last Supper for sure
6. FATTENING Peanut Butter Pie my mother-in-law used to make for me before she died... Haven't had any since... Sigh!
7. Got the fireplace/chimney cleaned and am looking forward to some fires this Fall/Winter.
Hugs,
Betsy
...funny, we have a fireplace but have never used it. Too warm here.
DeleteThe first photo is funny somehow. Friggng good post.
ReplyDelete...like ballet funny?
Deletelovely bird shots Anni. :)
ReplyDeleteThe last passage about passwords. Sounds like teh real thing to me. :(
...lol...all too real in most instances I guess.
DeleteWonderful bird photos! Especially the last one with the fish in his mouth.
ReplyDeleteHi Annie, and wow nice set of share and the Great Blue Heron with fish...NICE;) I would love to answer all of these fun questions, yet for this morning...time is limited and so my answer is the "The Last Supper" Happy weekend~
DeleteAnne...glad to know you enjoyed the bird photos this week!
DeleteMary...you don't need to answer the questions. It's another meme called "Wednesday Hodgepodge" that I participate in each week. I too like the heron with the 'catch of the day'.
DeleteI like the look on the face of the fish! And the password stuff is far too close to the truth!
ReplyDeleteStewart M - Melbourne
That seems to be the consensus of most...a favorite photo this week, that is.
