MACRO, RUBIES AND mellow YELLOW
...raindrops on roses - a few of my favorite things.

These rose close-up macro photos were taken in our back yard about three weeks ago, during a rainy day after the rain shower. With the cooler temps the past week or so, they're not looking as good as they were such a short time ago.
MONDAY MORSELS and PICSTORY
Tuesday's challenge for Picstory is the letter "A"
I have two for the category..."A" for Autumn Colors, and "A" for Ads on the computer. As I've posted before, "Autumn" doesn't come to our area of the Coastal Bend until mid December usually. And here's proof. Tho most trees around our city are evergreen, some will change and drop the leaves for a couple of weeks; then begin anew by mid January and be back to 'full green leaves' by February of the following year. This is the pecan tree by our driveway---

Then, a blogging 'tip' on embedded advertisements on the 'net and Firefox's "A"dd-ons...
January already. LOL On Tuesday...only 363 days left in the year. [sorry...364 ---DJ reminded me it's a leap year] My goodness how time flies. Y'all know I took a few days off from blogging for the holidays. And, I'm ready to get back to doing my daily posts if at all possible. The last Thursday Themesong, when I posted a slideshow video that I made, I noticed now that Y0UTUBE is, of course, property of G00GLE these days. It seems now there are embedded advertisements on them that Firefox's add-on, ADBLOCK + doesn't eliminate...so, I did some searching online to see how I could get those disabled. Of course, you can always just click the "x" in the box provided, and view the videos...sure 'nough, but why force us to do this when you know there is a permanent 'fix' out there somewhere in cyberspace --- Which brings me to this section of my post; I found another add-on that works for embedded advertisements this time 'round.
If you have Firefox, then, this should work for you as it does for me. It's called ADVERTBan or ADBan 2.2.0.
Go to Firefox that is on your browser window, click the arrow; find add-ons button, open the window or tab, search for ADBan 2.2.0 and install. Restart Firefox and you're set to view without embedded advertisements!!!

"I do not feel obliged to believe that the same God
who has endowed us with sense, reason, and intellect
has intended us to forgo their use."
~ Galileo Galilei (1564-1642)

Wow, I like the third rose the most! Hapy new year Anni!
ReplyDeleteLove the raindrops on the roses looks so beautiful !
ReplyDeleteWish you a Happy and healthy New Year too !
Oh, got my hopes up for a second, but I don't use Firefox. I use Safari and Google Chrome. I will talk to my nephew Scott, my computer guy, about Safari. Meanwhile, I'll bookmark this page. At the very least it will provide me with a view of raindrops on roses, and that's never a bad thing.
ReplyDeleteWhat a fun year it was, Anni, in large part thanks to you. My husband and I have a great time thinking of songs with which to play Thursday Theme Song!
Thanks for being there.
And, as for a book about our travels, that's what got the whole thing started. At first, there was no blog, just a manuscript and a file of photos. Then a friend suggested using a blog to showcase The Unfittie's Travels, and I loved blogging, but hit writer's block with the manuscript. So the blog contains 18 chapters of the book and no more. Sigh. But I'm sure it will come back, just don't know when.
Meanwhile, hopes and prayers for Erik to go to Rice University for his PhD. That would be wonderful.
K
So beautiful, I love roses.
ReplyDeleteI have Chrome and Firefox I will surely put this add on on my firefox. What about chrome do they have this too? Thanks for the visit!

ReplyDeleteStunning photo's of your roses. How lucky you still have them bloom this late.
ReplyDeleteHappy New Year!
Happily (for you) you have a few more weeks of green bring so close to the Gulf. Alas, not up north in the land of the snowbirds...I am becoming of the opinion that Google is big business and intrusive, as I am starting to upload to YouTube, and see their power. Someday, my blogging platform may change when we can afford to pay for our web hosting and the Google ads will disappear as if by magic!
ReplyDeleteRaindrops on roses are definitely beautiful!
ReplyDeleteHappy New Year
Gorgeous roses, I love them all!
ReplyDeleteGorgeous roses. Have a fabulous week.

ReplyDeleteMMT....thanks for the heads up on the new Ruby Tuesday. You do us all proud by continuing a great meme. Good luck in it!!!
ReplyDeleteSuch a beautiful welcome; raindrops on roses, one of my favourite things.
ReplyDeleteYou've managed to catch them in the right moment. Fresh and sparkling with lights in the raindrops.
I've said a prayer for your son Erik. Erik is a name for many of our family members. My grandfather and brother amongst others.
I hope he'll reach his goals in due time.
Your roses are beautiful! I love seeing them with raindrops!
ReplyDeleteHappy New Year to you and your family, Anni!

ReplyDeleteWhat a lovely roses!
ReplyDeleteLove the roses. Thanks for sharing.
ReplyDeleteYour flowers are just beautiful.
ReplyDeleteYep, I was shocked, to say the least, that just in a blink of an eye, Ruby Tues. is no more. Most of the time, we are given a notice but not so with this. Ok, now we have to hunt where to show our REDS...on Wed. there's REDNESDAY over at Sue Loves Cherries....but haven't found any other place to highlight reds.
Oh, well....:)
Happy New Year to you and yours, dear Anni! Christmas has finally been put away and I now have more time to concentrate on my blogging. I'm looking forward to some quiet days ahead:-)
ReplyDeleteLoving your new look on here, so beautiful. I need to get my New Year stuff off my blog now too! lol First, though, I wanted to visit all my blogging friends since it's been a while since I've had the chance to do so.
Your rose shots are gorgeous. To me, there's nothing more beautiful than flowers with raindrops on them, just adds such a dimension to them.
Thank you so much for the heads up about ADBan, I'm going to go add that right now:-)
Looking forward to another year of your delightful friendship. xoxo

For those of us up north in the winter, the emotion seems to be tinged with sadness and envy - no flowers in bloom until late April at the earliest. Warm Gulf breezes have got to be nice. The roses are beautiful!
