This week´s topic at Tina's Picstory is *a walk in the park*! Well I must admit, the city parks around here leave a LOT to be desired. They're all more geared to a 'child's playground' than just the beautifying an area with trees, benches, ponds, sculpture, flowers...The closest real park that I've seen is about 90 miles from us ---in Victoria Texas. It is huge, with ballparks, picnic tables, jogging/walking paths...and big HUGE beautiful oak trees. It's all built around the banks of the Guadalupe River. Sadly, I have no pictures of my own to share. But I scanned a few from the many gorgeous parks in the city of Houston while we've been to visit Erik. My favorite 'just because' park in the city of Houston is Memorial Park. It's vast...it's one of the oldest there, and the trees...oh the trees. Pine, Oak, Cottonwood, Myrtle....tall, stately, green trees!! The land was donated long ago in order for it to become a park and remain as such. Too, I have no photos scanned or on the digital of Memorial Park. But, if you're interested in seeing images of the park or reading about it ---click HERE All close by are several other parks, meandering along the Texas renowned Buffalo Bayou...and gardens, fountains, paths, flowers grace the view with terrific eye candy...and year 'round beauty---

These park scenes are quite exotic! The first photo features such a romantuic arched design framing the statue!
ReplyDeleteWonderful park pictures. To go to the "parks" around my house, you need to wear body armor, and carry mace.
ReplyDeleteLovely photos - looks like a nice place to visit!
ReplyDeletethanks for joining us with this nice shot from your walk :)
ReplyDeleteOh, Anni, these are excellent captured photos. Just beautiful. We don't have parks nearby ... sigh.

These are lovely parks indeed! The lush foliage offers a canopy of shade to cool off in the seasonally hot Texas sun. I really like the park with the stylish wrought iron furniture, a place to quietly converse - very nice!
ReplyDeleteThe first picture is my favorite, Anni. I would go wild over the trees, too. We don't have any nice big parks at all. Well, one with the river, some ducks and a little playground. But these pictures are really something to Hoot about!!!
ReplyDeleteI used to live in Victoria. One of the best kept secrets in Texas as far as I'm concerned.
ReplyDeleteHouston's parks are lush.
Ooooh to be walking through that park right now...I could spend the whole day there:-) We have Bell Park here in Sudbury and it truly is a beautiful park although not as fancy as some. I look forward to Spring and the snow melting so that I can go for walks there again!! xoxo
ReplyDeleteBeautiful photos, Anni. I agree with Pea, it would be wonderful to spend the day at the park.
ReplyDeleteBlessings,
Mary
Thanks for my virtual walk through the park! I love parks up here in the spring and the falls - before the mosquitoes come and after they leave! Summers at the park are no fun - especially in the evenings. Great photos Anni!
ReplyDeleteWhat a beautiful park, it looks like a great place to explore. I love that fountain.
ReplyDeleteVery nice pictures.
ReplyDeleteGorgeous oasis, a dream to enter.
ReplyDeletehis is not at all how I pictured Huston to be.
the park looks serene.. lovely photos! thanks for the visit!
ReplyDeleteYour pictures are beautiful. The park is so lovely.
ReplyDeleteJust spectacular! You are right, most parks are geared to kids, which isn't bad but to stroll though a park that has that beautiful eye candy is a treat!
ReplyDeleteWonderful park photos. Wee are blessed to have several parks within our city limits. Thanks for visiting my Ruby Tuesday post. :)
ReplyDeletePretty share of red:)

I would love to have prenuptial shots done in these parks :D
ReplyDeleteHow beautiful, such a wonderful respite from the city. The parks around here are all full of playground equipment and people, not too much space for contemplation.
ReplyDeleteLove the post – and the park!

ReplyDeleteTruly beautiful open spaces. A treasure.
ReplyDeletewhat a scenic park!
ReplyDeleteThe colours in the first photo are gorgeous. I like downtown squares of grass, huge trees, paved walkways and plenty of benches. A place where you can take your lunch break.
