Speaking of attic space...

Y'all know we tried to downsize our junk collections during the Spring Cleaning this past month before it gets too hot to do some yard work. Yes, we probably do it all backwards, clean house, THEN do Spring planting and cleaning of the yard afterwards. But thing is, I like my home clean more than I do the yard. By March, the house it stuffy and uncomfortable to clean much. I get too hot to clean, as in the "BIG" cleaning by then. Chores, they work up a sweat. Working outdoors once it begins to get warmer in March...well, there is a constant sea breeze to keep my internal air conditioning a'going.

Oh ya...I was going through some stuff, and told Bud I can't get rid of it. But I wanted it out of my sight. So, I packed it up as best I could, and had Bud put it up in the attic. While he was there, I asked him how my other collection looked...it too is up in the attic. He said, pretty good. Which in turn means, I want to have you hand it over to me, so I can go through it and check for myself, thank you very much. He gave me a look of utter disgust and handed down the box to me. He took forever getting out of there...I stick around to help guide him down the ladder. Even tho I wanted to leave and check out my stuff!!!

And I have always loved these...

I've had this one for nearly 5 decades. Yep. Sure have. I remember begging my dad to buy it for me. He was one to never spend money needlessly on junk. But I promised to do extra chores around the house so I could have it without guilt. It took a lot of begging and whining 'til he broke down and bought it. When I got my first car at 16 [with my saved money from babysitting]...my little troll was placed ever so lovingly on my dashboard. Bud remembers it in my car[s]. It always had that special place, whichever car I had. Then, they started to multiply...

Little Miss Valentine in her Vicki's Secret EnsembleExposing from the back side...Her cute butt 'cheeks' huh?

A Large Christmas Troll in Jammies and the smaller one all decked out for the holidaysNothing better than FrankenTROLL!! Even green skinned and stitched
Beware of the Ninja Troll His eyes tell you there is danger in provoking him, but he's a protector trollAnd the Halloween Caped Avenger to the rescue. He's masked and all decked out in black and orange
What could be better for the Thanksgiving holiday but having a little Native American Troll for guidance? He's known as One Feather RussNow this one can make a splash at any dinner party. As long as there is a poolside table!! The pearls on the wrist are all gathered by none other than troll herself.
I love clowns...this one is a larger [about 8 inches high compared to the two inch ones I have; mostly] He is a true clown in the sense he makes me giggleI love gardening so what better troll to have than a 'farmer' troll in his bib overalls and brown felt hat to keep the sun off his face while out hoeing the land?
Big brother troll and little brother troll. The 'baby' is about 1 inch in height and about 1 1/2 inches in length. Big brother is in blue flannel striped jammies, protecting his little sibling
Meet the Kringles! Ma and Pa all decked out with their holiday garb. These are also large trolls. Soft sculpture except for the faces. The hair is either red/metallic or green/metallic....

....TO BE CONTINUED next Friday!!

  7. Your post was a *hoot* this morning, Annie. (pun intended!). I think your first troll has to be the most special, just because of the memories behind it.

    Have a great weekend!

  8. I remember trolls - high school days. That's quite a collection you have! I can remember buying graduation trolls for my best friends as we prepared to leave high school - wonder if anybody saved theirs!

  9. How Funny! I have to admit, the trolls never appealed to me but you have a great collection! The baby one was probably my favorite! My Hub Dave was nicknamed "Troll" by one of our adult nieces and now as a joke at Christmas she has given him a Troll ornament and some other little figures as well. Because they're from her he has them sitting out in his den. Since I HATE dusting that room because of his clutter, I mean treasures, they're probably a bit rough looking! Ha ha!

  14. Anni,

I remember those trolls and somewhere I still have one. I think he is with my bingo markers that I haven't used in years.

Michelle also had one and we used to take them to bingo for good luck. They actually worked once in a while.

Take care, my friend. I enjoyed your post and look forward to the continuation next Friday.

    Have a great day.

  17. That's what is so weird. I was having problems and a techie young man friend from church reconfigured my computer, reinstalling everything that I needed and changed me from IE to Firefox. Ever since then, I've had this problem and he has no clue why. The computer geeks couldn't figure it out. Really frustrating.

  18. Oh I used to have some of them... and then my kids had some when they came back out.... Honestly, I think every generation has had it's "own kind" -- they are awfully cute! They never made the same "craze" as they did that first time though... I guess that's true with most things.

  24. Anni,

I have a small collection of those little troll guys too- but not as many as you! I LOVE them but mine are packed away too. I have some dressed in Halloween costumes which I like to get out during the fall season.

:) I'm gonna take that little Valentine to post on my blog- since you say we can have it-RIGHT? (Hope so)

    Have a good day, Anni.

  26. Hi Hootin Annie! I've heard so much about your blog from different folks, thought I'd drop by. This post is adorable, and I was with you on the love of these trolls when they became hot. My girlfriend had nearly everyone that was out at the time, I can't recall if I had more than one, but Mom pitched it at one time or another while purging. :( Stop by my Show & Tell today, you may be interesting in another set of EYES that I'm doing a giveaway on. It's a challenge to identify who or what the eyes belong to. The pic is at the end of the Show & Tell post for the day...and a little window shopping spree I went on. ;) ~CC Catherine

  33. Hi Anni,
How cute, I am glad I am not the only one who shows dolls then. There are a few of us. We have alot in common, I collect Santas too ( so I understand the collection addiction!! lol).I am trying to down size some of mine too but it is hard, some things I love to much. I just found my sons, from when he was little,Troll dolls ( they came back in fashion as you know when he was little) in a box the other day. I think I will just keep them with my dolls and maybe his kids can have them one day.
I too have my original one from the 60's with her pink hair.
How fun to share, thanks for stopping by my blog too.
    Hugs, Linda Q

  35. Oh, Anni, I had one that looked just like yours, I was around 11 years old. My Pink Saturday post got posted by accident. I had just down loaded the pic and it posted. I have wrote a long article, for I have had so many wanting to know about my health. Don't you just love our men with our attic! I got to go up there this month and hubby always goes with me. I could just stay up there all day and look into boxes. lol

  36. Sorry I haven't been around in a couple or three days. Life -- it sometimes just gets in the way. :)
The trolls are wonderful. I didn't collect them, but had a few along the way --- so did my girls.

I have other collections that seemed to have just happened -- didn't intend for them to become collections, but they did.

  37. Until my keepsake trunk was stolen I too had trolls. Love them!!

  38. If you love your trolls I say keep em! Would you beleive I never had one? I was more of a Barbie girl! My cousins had them though. Made me feel old when someone said she remembered them from High School. I remember them from Elementary! BTW thanks for coming by this morning.
It is great to be back.
    Have a Blessed Weekend,

  44. You have a nice collection Anni. I haven't seen one of them for a long time.
I just checked eBay, there are five for sale ($4.00 w/$3.00 shipping) right now, same seller for all.
If you need to fill in with a few eBay might be a good place to look.

  46. Omigosh, I loved Trolls when I was a young girl and into my teens...unfortunately I didn't keep any of them but did buy one for Corey when he graduated from grade school and he's now given it back to me! lol It's got green hair and is wearing a Flintstone outfit:-) I just love your collection, I'd never seen any of these costumes they're wearing, how precious!! You should have a special cabinet to display them in...I know, like me, you're running out of room, right? hehe xoxo

  47. These little Troll dolls were extremely popular when I was a little girl (many decades ago). I remember my friends had them, but my mother thought they were ugly, so I wasn't allowed to have any. I had completely forgotten about them until I saw them here. Now, I have all these memories flooding back of when I was young...

    Thanks!
    Elizabeth

  48. yeah, but the very best one was the first one you ever got. mine looked much like yours, except she has pibk hair - dark at the roots and lighter as it got longer. mine came from radioshack, i think it was. anyway, thanks for sharing.

  51. This. Is. So. Great!

    I LOVE TROLLS!!!

I always did, and I'm only 28, so I'm a bit late, since they're already out of production evidently, and "everyone" (collecting anyway) has a bigger collection than me. :/

I have about 33 of'em, though, and they ALL have names. I love them dearly.

I'm from Norway, too, so I grew up with fairy-tales about horrible trolls, but that didn't scare me off - no, sirree! They are AWESOME!

Yours are so cool. I like them ALL and can't really pick a favorite. One of my first ones had rainbow-hair too. :) Hehe. Mkay, I'll shut up now.
