PHOTO HUNT 2009 THEMES
HOPE
WHERE THERE ARE SHRIMP BOATS, THERE IS HOPE!!!

When the shrimp boats come in with a day's haul, the birds have hope! High hopes of getting the scraps from the catch. And they do!!! It's so fun to be there at the T-heads when the boats troll in slowly to dock....you can watch and get up very close and personal with the hopeful pelicans!!!
These photos, below, were taken on New Year's Day 2009 while Bud and I walked along the shoreline drive and marina ....

ReplyDeleteHugs,
Robin
Fantastic shots!! Hope you have a fantastic 2009!
ReplyDeleteSorry, but upon seeing that first line in your entry, my first reaction was "Probably not for the shrimp, there ain't"! ;D
ReplyDeleteGreat shots Anni, There;s definitely the hope of a snack for the Perlicans! A happy New YEar to you and your family
ReplyDeletelucky pelicans??? i'll have me some shrimp too thank you!
ReplyDeleteSome day we're going to spend time in our RV on the coast of Texas, around Brownsville area, I think. Heard it is beautiful. We live on the other side of the Gulf of Mexico.
ReplyDeleteHugs,
Chris
A great choice & shots.
ReplyDeleteHave seen the gulls follow the trawlers, but not fortunate enough to view pelicans!
TY for visiting me & Happy New Year to you too.

That first shot is absolutely gorgeous.
ReplyDeleteWhat great shots! I've never seen real pelicans.
ReplyDeleteWhat a great way to show hope? And is that the moon? Brilliant!
ReplyDeleteArchie: No, that isn't the moon...I just highlighted the pelicans on the net arms.
ReplyDelete~Anni
Ah, my favorite bird! Good take on the theme...
ReplyDeleteGreat shots for this week's theme. Those pelicans look extremely hopeful for a snack.
ReplyDeleteThose are fabulous birds... I've never had the privilege to see them up close... beautiful!!
ReplyDeleteThat is hope, indeed!

Oh! That is GREAT!!! I love it! I've never seen a shrimp boat before! (or I wouldn't have known that's what it is if I did see it!) But I LOVE pelicans and that is just an awesome picture! All of 'em actually! HOPE springs eternal!
ReplyDeleteWhat a wonderful walk ! I would have loved to see that !
ReplyDeleteFirst, I love your blog header. Those mice are adorable.
ReplyDeleteSecond, your photos are wonderful. When I read the first line, I was like YEA I Hope for shrimp! LOL!
Hope
Great shots. Shrimping over here is really on the down side right now, but hopefully with the price of fuel going down the shrimpers will be able to get back on top of things, but then of course the price they get for shrimp is down now so the vicious circle continues. All that from a bankers point of view -- hubby's world if ag lending.
ReplyDeleteWonderful shots Anni and a great take on the theme Happy New Year!
ReplyDeleteA new year and new hopes!
ReplyDeleteGreat shots~
Anni,
ReplyDeleteAwesome photos. I have seen pelicans up close. They are such interesting birds. I'm sure you and Bud had fun watching their antics.
Have a great day, my friend. Not doing much here except resting and trying to get over this terrible sinus infection.
Blessings,
Mary
I've never seen pelicans in person, I guess they don't like our cold temperatures! lol Heck, I don't like our cold temps either...it's 3F right now! It certainly would be interesting to watch these boats coming in and seeing all those pelicans. I don't care for seafood much but I do like deep fried battered shrimp:-) xoxo
ReplyDeleteWonderful post for this week's theme! I love all the images ... especially the pelicans! Mine's at Happily Retired Gal, so I'll sign in with that link.
ReplyDeleteHugs and blessings,
storyteller
We stopped by to say hello in the hope that it's warmer where you are than where we are in Hastings UK, we have loads of fishing boats here too but no Pelicans sadly.
ReplyDeleteThe standing pelican looks to be such a somber, staunch fellow, ...yet when a meal shows up they become very animated! And the sqwabling and sqwakiing!! They are the kind of bird that happens to look much more at ease flying than balancing on a rocking boat LOL.
ReplyDeleteGreat highlighted photo to illustrate HOPE!
Cool photos, Anni. I love this post. They certainly are waiting hopefully for a meal. I hope that your new year will be filled with blessings and all you are hoping for.
ReplyDeleteGreat series of photos!!! I like your new template.
ReplyDeleteI 'hope' you get a chance to come see my post and leave your link.

Love the pictures. It reminds me of a song from eons ago. "Shrimp Boats Are A Comin'" "Shimp boats are a-comin there's dancin' tonight." I always liked that song.
