Our Fun Monday Hostess asks us to put a twist on our front door....in other words, instead of looking OUT the front door of our home, we turn around at the door and show you what you'd see ENTERing!! Okay...

As you come through the front door of our home, you enter the foyer. Directly to your right is a framed picture of a wolf. Then, off the foyer you step down into the sunken living room...you are face to face with our entertainment center. On top...Kachina Dolls. On the shelves are DVDs, cassette tapes, knickknacks, candles, 33 1/3 albums, and 45rpm singles. Behind the shelves is the bigscreen TV. The dark area up in the right hand top of the photo is part of the wood vaulted ceiling...to the far wall is my great grandfather's hay saw. The lighted window is a step up into our dining room.

News Flash: The
Arizona Cardinals are on their way to the Super Bowl
. I'm excited. How wonderful for the team. And since there was such a bad call in the first half of the game Sunday afternoon [called incorrectly by the officials against the Cardinals keeping them from possession of the ball], I'm grateful that they pulled the win over the Eagles. Being that Arizona is a state I resided in for over a decade. GO CARDINALS!!

<><><>

My new book on my desk during the day, and on my nightstand at night to read, this time, is another biography. Biographies are my favorite type of non-fiction book to study. I'm always found in that section of the bookstores. This week, I'm going to start reading "Michelle". A biography of our soon to be 1st Lady of the United States. I have seen Ms. Obama on some late-night talk shows these past months and there is something about her demeanor that will be very attractive, I think, to our country's stand in the world views. I have admired her from the beginning....she handles herself with dignity and strides for a common area of family life, still within the bounds of now being our nation's dignitary; hostess. When I saw her on the Letterman show [I believe -not sure which program was on at the time], she made a statement about her husband, Barack, being that he was highly intelligent yet is still 'a man' and leaves his socks laying around the house. Now, to me, that woman knows where life and love is. In her heart, it's Barack. I've witnessed the deep connection the two [Michelle and Barack] have when they meet on stage, or at the airport tarmac...it's great to see such devotion they each have for one another!! I can't wait to begin reading this. The author, Lisa Mundy, is a writer for the Washington Post -- I'm hoping that the book will take me inside the mind of the world charmer, and delve into some depth of what makes Michelle Obama, Michelle!!

  2. Anni,

I love the framed picture of the wolf just inside your front door. We have many wolf knick knacks here. Mom is always buying them for Dwight and we both like wolves. I will have to photograph them and post the photos some time.

I am not a football fan but am glad the Cardinals are going to the Super Bowl. Enjoy rooting for them.

I would love to read the book about Michelle Obama. She has such grace and charm about her. She is going to be a favorite of the people, I think.

Take care and enjoy your week. Glad you enjoyed my memory of Dad. I really have to get to Mom's and get some of the old photos to go with my posts. There are literally hundreds of them.

    Blessings,
    Mary

  17. Your front entrance is intriguing - would love to see your shining clean house - could you come up here now and fumigate mine after all this sickness that's been staying here??

Congrats to Arizona - I'm glad for them, though I don't worry too much about the Super Bowl unless it's the Broncos - which hasn't been for a good while now! What do you think of the new coach, by the way??

  24. One day I hope to enter your front door and see your beautiful house for myself:-) Of course, I'd have Mary with me! hehe I just love that framed wolf picture, it's gorgeous. I had a wolf picture in my entrance as well until just a few months ago when I gave it to Corey to put in his own home since he loved it so much.

Like you, I've admired Michelle Obama from the very start. She just has such a way with her that makes me feel like she truly has both feet on the ground and knows what it's like to be a wife and mother. Let us know what you thought of the book once you're done!! xoxo

  25. Thanks for inviting us in...I grinned when reading what you have residing on the shelves of the bookcase...it's like a timeline from 45s to 331/3 to cassettes to DVDs! I have only just begun to understand what an MP3 is :)) At our age, our past takes up sooooo much room, but an iPOD can store it all!

Hooorayyy Cardinals!! My old home state for 40 years, and I've NEVER lived somewhere that a hometeam went to the Superbowl. Of course I had to move to Mississippi for it to happen...oh no, was I a jinx??!!

The biography sounds good. Enjoy, and enjoy the ceremonies tomorrow. Excitement and hope will abound. We need both.

Hope you enjoy tomorrow and that it's a great new start for our country.
