What's in Here? Why Sketches of Course!!

Since I've not been going out much this past week, I started cleaning out a closet. Then, got side-tracked. I made the mistake of opening my sketch portfolio! I was a bit shocked to see some of the sketches I did long ago...when Irene was a mere babe in arms. I began sketching on a pad when our newborn would be napping during the day to keep the house quiet. No TV running, no nuttin' to disturb her time of slumber. Besides it gave me an outlet 'cause I was a shut-in during those hours. I ended up taking photos of all from 1969 up to this year. By the way, in the meantime, I started an oil based pastel drawing this week to add eventually, that is...if it turns out okay. Some of these I will share over a period of time, were never completed...but saved.  Some yet, are framed and on our walls around the house. Most are pencil, while a few are colored pencil images. From animals, birds, tv celebrities, flowers, etc.  Here are the first four...some have been shared on my blog previously while others have been hidden in the leather for decades:

E T, our Burmese cat Tempir, a hexenbeist from GRIMM(tv), and the leprechaun.

Eventually, I will bring up more.

  1. You have a real talent for this. What a nice way to pass the time while the little one slept. I think my favorite of these 4 is the leprechaun.

  3. Really well done!
I have scanned my sketches, posted them regularly on my blog. For Christmas, I gave hubby a book of my scanned images. He looked it over with my granddaughter. It was heart-warming!

  6. Yes, please show us more. I do a little myself... and enjoy it. It's almost like writing or sculpting as you can get lost in it.

  7. Have you had any training or self taught? You really are good. I haven't heard Hexenbeist in quite a while. Just as scary as the original:))

  8. I always love it when you show your art. E.T. is spot on! And the leprechaun is so detailed, and amazing! I bet you could make money as a book illustrator.

    1. My sister told me the same. Thing is, when I'd have a job drawing it'd be too different.

  9. I am also wondering if you had formal training. No matter how you got there, you are a talented artist (and photographer)! I hope you continue to show your work here.
