Gotta Get Out of 'Dis Place!!

Image
"Don't look now, dear, But your rumble seat is showing..." Lyrics from Sunday Driving by Jerry Lewis, 1956 I've been cooped up at home way too long. I'm used to getting out, walking!!   Still, we sit in the broiler of USA - heat advisories each day, and even too hot to walk before daybreak. So, I just hadda get out of the house! I took a drive around town, here and there, and picked up some sights --- Dunno, actually. Is this considered a kayak? A crab at Packery Channel - An oil car on the long, long, long, train by the Oil Refineries Black Angus Cattle on a hillside Along the road by Bird Basin inside the National Seashore Federal Park.  A dune at the distance, then zooming in on it! Under the Corpus Christi/Portland Texas Causeway - and Corpus's Skyline from the park road. A cargo [or tanker] ship heading out to the Gulf in the far background and a park lake Some Park trees and hillside along the Park Road. ...from

The Promise of Sun...All in Flowers

Image
I seem to just now realize, after going through my photo files, that the predominant color of wildflowers in Texas is yellow...and one of my favorites is the silver leaf sunflower [native to Texas and parts of Florida and North Carolina]. Anywhooo, I call this Mellow Yellow: aka a baker's trekker's dozen Common Buckeye

...Walking in the Sunshine... It's a bit difficult to fathom that next Tuesday it'll be the first of August already! So, this week, I registered myself to participate in the city's 5K Heart Walk! It will take place in October, giving me time to raise the funds I pledged. AND, it'll be a lot cooler in that month. [Hopefully, drier also, but it's STILL hurricane season, so anything's possible].  I decided to join as an individual so not to disappoint any company's team if for some reason I need to drop out while participating or not show up at all.  It will give me a lot more peace of mind to do it this way. Once again, I was compelled this week to take down an image I shared to add more layered text on a photo and then republish the 'newer' version Wednesday. A gal that left a comment actually posted in her comment that she'd take my image,

Mall Walkers...

Image
I parked the car in the covered parking lot for shade and entered the petri dish. Personally, I detest mall walking. But, it's been so hot and humid the last four days with triple digit temps [108 degrees one day...without heat index in Dallas!], I hadn't walked much the past week to keep up my quota because of the weather. I decided against my dislike of entering the area that covers an entire city block; the mall, and walked a couple of hours in cooler air. Here are some sights.  I'm sure they're the same all around the nation.  Malls are boring ... Hallmark Store had Halloween and Christmas stuff out already.  And one of the many escalators for the different level floors of shopping.  Did you hear about the students at Texas Tech that were stuck on the escalators for three hours when the electricity went out? I was happy to see all the floral prints in some of the store windows.  I like floral!!  And the main entrance door with the fountain.  Hardly any pen
