Got a good reason For taking the easy way out

Where Kids Play...

Sorry I've not been around to visit with y'all....I've been sick, in bed mostly, with a nasty cough. And just plain worn out...trying to sleep in between bouts of coughing spells. I haven't been out of the house since Sunday when Bud and I drove to the islands with the cold, damp, strong winds blowing in from one of the many winter systems that have come our way in the past few weeks. I guess I stood out in that wind much too long, 'cause by the time we got back home my throat was dry and I began hacking profusely then, and haven't stopped. And to top it off, I returned to the island the very afternoon when a sea bird was reported inland. I wanted a picture record of it. I was lucky it was still there, but again...I was out in that blustery cold wind a second time in one day. Y'all will be able to see the bird photos I got this coming weekend when my birding blog shows it off...

...in the meantime, I'll show you the Monkey Mansion. With a bit of whacky fencing banister and railings...

Just a stone's throw from the 'mansion' a caged area is set up for a Texas Tortoise. Sadly, it seems part of its shell has been damaged. It is illegal to possess one of these-they are a protected species:

  3. Oh no! Are you taking any medicine? Please take good care of yourself, you are way more important than birds. Did someone build this house for monkeys? And why are so many holes in the tree? Was that done by monkeys, or a flock of huge woodpeckers?

  7. Don't you know, good people are scarce!! but they also have to be sensible!!! Going out in those conditions again was not sensible even to get a shot of a special bird!! However, I do hope you recover quickly. Now this Monkey Mansion is so cute and sitting on a 400 piece of wood. Fabulous.

  20. Well, we all know you are committed, but really Annie ... back out in the wind and cold when you are sick? For shame! However, I get it ... I would do the same as would many of your followers, so I will join in on everyone's loud cry of "so sorry you are sick" since I truly am sorry you are sick. It is no way to be and it seems as we get older it is a little harder to kick this kind of infection. Take care, Anni, and hope you are feeling better soon.

As for the Monkey House fence ... and just the Monkey House, how very awesome. and whacky. But, what gets me is what it must have cost to ship an old Oak tree trunk from Califonia ... someone else must be committed and rich :) Sad for the turtle ... hope he is getting well taken care of. I assume they must have a permit for this little fella ... Great post as always, Anni ... Be well,be safe and drink, drink, drink lost of fluids :)
