So, instead of Trash Talk, I just thought I'd share some birding photos with y'all in hopes to bring you a smile or two, this time of year, l♥ve and courtship is in their mind and instincts play a big hand in what is seen. It's a time of love....in NATURE TOO [almost a ritual of constant cleaning, and a whole range of color changes. White pelicans have a 'horn' that normally isn't on their beaks unless it's breeding season. Activity and dominance is playing a big part along the way. Calling and bird song is at high fever. As the days progress into Spring, there is much to see, so many things to watch]:
Up at sunrise:
whoever has the most beaus at the end of the game is called 'winner' -
top in photo, CORMORANT...the three dark headed with yellow eyes...MALE LESSER SCAUP...the brown in front of the pack is a FEMALE LESSER SCAUP
what's love without your own harem -
American Avocets [in winter garb - summer they have quite a bit of browns]
...like a Roman Orgy
In the far background, several species of ducks...then, white pelicans, a slew of seagulls of different kinds, and the 'red' beak black and white bird [look very closely or enlarge the image] ... black skimmers.
resulting in this:
LOVE...love makes the world go 'round!!
HAPPY VALENTINE'S DAY.
