A new dawn...a new year to come!
I'm back to blogging this morning...duh!! Anyway, it's been a super busy two weeks. We survived the Mayan 'end of the world'. And now, it's getting on with the normal routine again. Of course, today, I'm doing tons of laundry that was sorely neglected while my sister and brother in law were here visiting. We had a great time together!!! Going out to dine nearly every day [except for Christmas]...visiting museums, bookstores, ship tours, lighthouses, aquariums, science and history, showing them the port of call, botanical gardens, driving to the islands, and all in all taking them to the sights of our fair city. They also drove to Houston to spend a day with our son, Erik. The busy time is over; for that, I'm grateful. Yes, it was fun....loads of fun....but getting back to routine is good too. While they were here in Texas for the two weeks, Colorado was being blasted with heavy snows. So, they were glad they missed it ---but concerned of flying back in the wintry weather.
Of course, while they were still all a-snooze in their beds, Bud and I ventured out in the quiet times of early morning and walked. Went birding a couple of mornings. And what a wonderful, relaxing and quiet time for the two of us. Such beautiful early morning hours. My sister has always been a late-riser, so they missed out in all the days' beginning glory.
We had a wonderful Christmas day. We didn't exchange gifts....which was agreed upon beforehand. We all said just being together was the best gift of all. And it was. Since my sister's birthday and my brother in law's birthday are so close together, I gave them the genealogy book I had published and they both just went wild with the completeness of it all....it was a great gift...they both were flabbergasted. That made me feel all warm inside.
Anyway, now it's to face 2013. I am looking forward to a new year. Seems that 2012 was taking forever to be behind us. Even tho the days zipped by, it just felt like 2012 would never come to a close. So much has happened in the world, so many tragedies, so many governmental flub-ups, drought, distant family health issues, extreme heat through the summer and autumn months, things like that....like I said, I'm ready for a new year!!!!
I thought I'd share some of the beauty of a new day [all of the images from above to below are taken on the same day just minutes apart]...saying goodbye to 2012 and welcoming with open arms...2013. A new dawn so to speak.
