HODGEPODGE

Joyce has these questions for us this week---

1. I included this quote (attributed to William H. Danforth) in my blog post yesterday... "The best cure for a sluggish mind is to disturb it's routine." When was the last time you 'disturbed your routine' and how'd you do it? I try to do it often, just getting up at a different hour will throw things off and get adrenaline pumping sometimes.

2. What's your favorite fried food indulgence? Just one? Five Guys French Fries!!! And now that I think of them...those luscious, greasy, bestest ever french fries....I'm gonna have to go there.

3. Did you have an allowance as a kid? What did you do with it? Do you give your own kids an allowance? Yes, I did. Usually spent it on clothes after I saved enough. And no I don't give my own kids an allowance...did, but they're both grown adults!!! They should be payin' ME!!!

4. What's something you wish you knew more about? Politics...but it gets way too frustrating for me; most times I just wanna scream.

5. Is there anything you feel too old to do anymore? If so, what?
With what I've dealt with in the past decades before a heart ablation, I now feel concerned of over exertion....but it's not age necessarily, it more fear of the unknown. I even refuse a stress test with my cardiologists.

6. What's a song you think has a great first line? I love songs period!! That's difficult to just pinpoint one! Seriously!!! The first one that comes to my mind right off hand is...a weemow weh, a weemow weh... "Hush my darling, be still my darling, the lion sleeps tonight." Dunno why that came to me.

7. Who are you writing to/for when you create a blog post? In other words...as you write, who is the audience in your head? Personally, I just compose posts to share and talk...be it that I may be talking to myself at the time I type, I have no particular person/persons in mind. It's just the joy of blogging.

8. Insert your own random thought here. GRIMM season two first episode was awesome!!! Can't wait for next week...episode one ended in another cliffhanger!!!

  8. IS that really a snowy egret? That's what I guessed when I first saw it but then I thought, ya know...there's no snow!! Great photos Anni.

I didn't like the first stress test I did 3 years ago and I postponed the one I was supposed to have taken today. I just don't like it and think that they are as likely to put you in the hospital as actually find out anything. No small concern that there is an AED kit on the wall of the room with the tread mill...talk about Gitmo mind torture! After an echo cardiogram and EKG...what's the point. The doc has seen every thing he needs. Working on improving my ejection fraction all on my own exercise schedule. Thank you very much.

Great post all the way around.

  9. Hi Anni, Loved the bird photos.. That middle one has tremendous coloring...

I enjoyed reading your answers to the questions. We had our routine disturbed this morning when we got up at 4:30 a.m. to make a short trip... YAWN...

I wish I didn't know so much about politics --because I am scared to death of what is happening to our wonderful country these past 3-4 yrs.... SCARY...

Interesting question about our blog posts.... I guess that I started out writing about my life and experiences for my family and future generations... Like you, I am very interested in Genealogy --so I thought this was a great way to tell my story.. Now though --since I have so many great blog friends, I write for them/for you---sharing our travels/hikes/flowers/birds, etc.... I still hope someone in the future will read some of this and know more about me...

    Hugs,
    Betsy

  15. I've never eaten at a Five Guys ... but I definitely want to.

I have to admit to a certain amount of yearning when I read your title ... oh what I wouldn't give to be by the sea. And in 3 1/2 weeks, I will be!! ;-)

    1. Each time I have some sea photos posted, you yearn for the sea....I swear you should seriously consider relocating somewhere within a few minutes drive to the beach. I wish we had long ago, but I'm lovin' it now in my 'golden years'.

    2. DH and I always planned to move to the beach when we retired ... until we had grandkids ... I just cannot bring myself to move that far away from my grands. And unfortunately if they were to move, it would likely be to Colorado ... even further away from our favorite beach (although we'd be able to drive to the Texas Gulf coast).

And regarding getting a quilt bound ... that's the process where I'll sew on a strip of fabric (aka binding) to the edges of the quilt to finish the edges and complete the quilt. ;-)

    3. Quilt binding....gotcha!!! Glad you explained that to me. I was in total loss of the meaning.

    1. Lol....sorry 'bout that song. But, think about it, if you sing it out loud, you may get ALL the staff singing....picture it. Try 5 guys, they're VERY good.

  20. We have a Five Guyes near us but we don't go there very often. No idea why we don't, we like them. We should go there for dinner. Thank you, no cooking required.

  21. Thanks for taking us for a walk along the beach, Anni. Such a variety of birds.

Let's see. Fried foods? It's state fair in KY and they're frying Girl Scout cookies. That's just wrong! Who do I think of when writing posts. Well, I love coming up with topics that provoke lots of group discussion and funny back and forth. But honestly I write the stories that want to be written and just hope that people like them. All time views was for one I wrote about touring a Frank Lloyd Wright house in Frankfort, KY. Lots of interest in the Arts and Crafts Movement, I guess.

  23. As usual, your pictures are lovely! 5 Guys. Oh how I used to LOVE their greasy burgers and fries! I doubt I could 'stomach' their food now but they used to be one of my most favorite places! Can't say I blame you about refusing the stress test- those things just don't make sense to me. What? Push myself into a heart attack and y'all will bring me back? Don't think so but, thanks. LOL Love your thought that the kids should be paying you--- I think I'll run that one by the lovelies. :)
