The "William M". A RUBY tugboat going out from the harbor house to greet a tanker coming into the harbor. Tina's Picstory theme last week, which I didn't participate in was 'wet' & this week it's azure for the newest photo challenge. I don't think you can get much more wet than the sea. And the sky is a light azure blue... LOL [next week Tina's photo challenge is the letter "H"] CONNECTING TO:

hibiscus blossom against the iron deer statue, outdoors on patio CONNECTING TO: _ _ _ MONDAY MORSELS I was presented this past week with a blogging award. From Linda at "The Road Awaits"!! I loved it. Thanks so much. We are definitely sisters in such a way as age, thoughts, similar interests, and just all around love of life!!! Now, along with this award I am supposed to add a few 'unknown' facts about myself. I must say, as I blog I tend to blurt out just about all there is to know, so this may be a bit challenging. But, I'll try and give it 'a go'.... * I fear heights, but love flying in an airplane [both commercial and private] * I fear water depths above my head, but love the ocean * I love watermelon and cantaloupe, but detest honeydew * I tend to do the opposite of what I'm told...always have, always will. i.e., "turn down the music"...I turn the volume up. That sorta rebellion. * I hated history in sc

along the downtown marina park CONNECTING TO: _ _ _ SUNDAY'S SUMMARY First off, if you're kinda squeamish, and don't like to look at bodily injuries, you may want to skip this part.  This week, outside, Bud and I mowed and edged the lawn.  Of course, the mowing is in Bud's duty book....my job is to edge along the driveway and sidewalks.  And, my edger is electric, not gas powered.  Nor does it have the rotating blade as some, it has the plastic edging strings.  Two coming out around the spool on both sides.  I wear tennis shoes to do my yard work when I'm edging.  I was done!  There's this little gizzy-wich that you wrap the cord around a 'hook' to keep it stable.  Still plugged in, I started to pull that loose, and my hand slipped onto the trigger mechanism.  The strings cut off the top of my tennis shoe...sliced it right off from the laces to the tongue.  And pretty well scraped the top of my foot!!! - - - After I realized what happe

They went up to the first pen and there was a sign that said, "This bull mated 50 times last year." The wife poked her husband in the ribs and said, "He mated 50 times last year." They walked a little further and saw another pen with a sign that said, "This bull mated 120 times last year." The wife hit her husband and said, "That's more than twice a week! You could learn a lot from him." They walked further and a third pen had a bull with a sign saying, "This bull mated 365 times last year." The wife got really excited and said, Th

I've been able to go back to a birth of my BIL's maternal grandparent's lineage....to the year 1728. Yesterday, I did my 'semi-annual' chore ... I cleaned out my summer wardrobe and got rid of only a few things....I had Bud clean his closet also; only a couple of shirts....put 'em in a bag and drove over to drop them off at the thrift store...and as usual, I have to walk through the store's front to the back drop off door....and I always have to browse the shelves along the way...only to find some CHRISTMAS IN JULY items!! I was thrilled to find the tea for one set of Santa [I just can't pass up anything Santa!!] It was only $2. And, in perfect shape, no chipping or cracks. Wonderful. Then, we drove down to the antique mall just to walk around and peruse the shelves in the many stores lined up in a row....Found these two little ditties. I really don't know what they're construction material is, but they're both VERY heavy; about

No MP3 playing today. Couldn't find it...but I'm sure y'all know this song made famous by Bert Parks and the Miss America Pageants throughout history. Today, there is a 'twist' to the themesong, instead of promoting women and beauty, Miss America is represented by our country and the freedoms we have even tho there is a shared discontent with what's going on in Congress these days...and I can't really explain it, but with all the hoopla and mess that the GOP/Dems in Congress fighting for themselves because it's an election year instead of working FOR the people who supposedly govern the country...I've just been more patriotic than usual. Yep, can't explain it...but it's there, inside me.... There she is, Miss America There she is, your ideal The dream of a million girls who are more than pretty can come true in New York Atlantic City For she may turn out to be the Queen of femininity There she is, Miss America There she is, your ideal

...another time I'm not quite wordless... scribbler creation I drew from the online site and saved. My rendition of the Sonoran Desert in the American Southwest after a monsoon rainstorm where the water runs free across the parched landscape. If you go and try your expertise in this, sometimes, I have found out, it's difficult to save your work. If you find that you can't save it, there is an alternative, do a screenshot then open it in your paint program and resize it if needed, then save it.

As you may know if you visit with me often, our yard is heavily filled with the blossoms of different colored hibiscus plants. I like them 'cause they bloom from Spring to late Autumn. We have a couple of the variegated leaf variety that gives a whole 'nother 'splash of color' for their white and green and maroon color 'dappled' leaves!! The blossoms are much smaller than most because of them being hybrids, but the blossom and the leaf contrast makes for interesting pattern break in the gardens. And the morning shadows are always distinctive and 'colorful'. CONNECTING TO: SUNDAY'S SUMMARY This week, as you well know also, the drought continues. But you wouldn't know it because of the weed population!! For some reason, they thrive in the inferno. So, early in the morning hours when the temps are still in the mid 70s, we went out a couple of days and did some yard work, pulling weeds. At Hobby Lobby this past week, I found four yard s

PHOTO HUNT Photo Hunters Month of July Themes 6th * Zany 13th * Dance 20th * Song 27th * Joker I'm gonna take the theme for Photo Hunters this week, literally....and post a photo that represents an actual SONG by Rogers and Hart. The photo was taken on July 8th early in the morning from our back yard. The song? ---- BLUE MOON _ _ _ CAMERA CRITTERS Then, for this week's camera critter, I spied it...Is it a bird, is it a plane? No, it's not...it's a lizard [green anole], confused and imitating a hummingbird, --on the hummingbird feeder!! CONNECTING TO: _ _ _ WEEKEND FUNNIES Bill and Ben were walking home from the pub. Bill says to Ben, 'What a beautiful night, look at the moon.' Ben stops and looks at Bill, 'You are wrong, that's not the moon, that's the sun.' Both started arguing for a while when they come upon a real drunk walking in the other direction, so they stopped him. 'Sir, could you please help

Today'll be the first showing at the theaters of THE DARK KNIGHT RISES. We very seldom go to movies these days 'cause there are none that really really interest us anymore. Seems most movies now are geared toward the teens or children. Altho, I admit I love the animated, children's movies a lot. LOL But the influx of vampire themes...nope. And I do believe that genre is finally dying down!! Anyway....we both want to see the conclusion of the 'Batman'/Christian Bale Trilogy, but we both decided we'll wait until the crowds thin a bit after a week or two. Just read where there was a bomb and several killed in Aurora Colorado at the early showing of this film?!!!!! Whoa. I found a very interesting article about a bird species that in the 1950s [in Texas] they had all but disappeared. And the Peregrine Fund is here, as they were last weekend, to release the once thought near extinct species of falcon, they're reintroducing them to our island and prair

Seal - Kiss From A Rose Since the conclusion of the Batman Trilogy [The Dark Knight Rises] opens in theaters tomorrow I wanted to share a favorite song of mine from Batman Forever movie....sung by SEAL...a Kiss From a Rose There used to be a graying tower alone on the sea. You became the light on the dark side of me. Love remained a drug that's the high and not the pill. But did you know, That when it snows, My eyes become large and The light that you shine can be seen. Baby, I compare you to a kiss from a rose on the gray. Ooh, The more I get of you, The stranger it feels, yeah. And now that your rose is in bloom. A light hits the gloom on the gray. There is so much a man can tell you, So much he can say. You remain, My power, my pleasure, my pain, baby To me you're like a growing addiction that I can't deny. Won't you tell me is that healthy, baby? But did you know, That when it snows, My eyes become large and the light that you shine can
