“A wise old owl lived in an oak;
The more he saw the less he spoke;
The less he spoke the more he heard...
Why can't we all be like that bird?”

....that's entertainment!

  • Ducky!!?!!  No!!!!  [of course I have read online that the "Doc" has signed a two year extended contract as of just weeks ago, to return. ] But, my goodness...what an unexpected cliffhanger " 'Til Death Do Us Part' "....bombing the building in D.C. and then, this?  Whoa!!  Come on Autumn!!!! Stay tuned....

  • Coming soon to a theater near you!!! Lately Bud and I haven't been going to the theater like we used to do in the past. Why, we made a point of each Friday during the month, it was 'our movie day'. Seems the movies these days just do not put out enough interest. I mean really...an upcoming movie from the book of the same "Abraham Lincoln:Vampire Hunter"?!!! Tell me, is my logic gone haywire or what? If there WERE vampires, everyone would be!! I just can't see this being true. And to scar our president with hookey stories like this...well, I guess I don't have an open mind on the subject. But there are others that will perhaps entertain us. Like: [opening on July, Friday the 13th?!!! Oh oh...] ICE AGE - Continental Drift and then in August...the 3rd...BOURNE LEGACY.

  • I also read this past week online while checking the different cities off Broadway showings... that the Broadway Musical, WICKED, is going to be made into a movie. I love musicals...and I love the book Wicked! It's one of my favorites...in fact, the author has written some great adult books from classical publications. So, I'm thrilled to have read that little ditty in the news.

  • And speaking of movies....speculation now for opening Christmas day this year is another classic...THE GREAT GATSBY. Starring Leonard DiCaprio. Yummy

  • Question for anyone that does go see a lot of movies: "Have you seen Dark Shadows that opened this past weekend? Is it any good?" Y'all know I love Johnny Depp, but lately his character acting has become quite redundant no matter what character he plays.

    1. I haven't seen Dark Shadows, but a couple of friends have seen it, they enjoyed it, and said it was very different.

      1. I am not sure we'll go see it at the theater, but if people say it's good [I don't go by the movie critics' opinions]....we'll either by the DVD or get it at Blockbusters.

    2. Dark Shadows...when I was a pre-teenager, I LIVED for this show!!! Barnabas Collins (Jonathan Frid) recently died after living to a ripe old age. I would love to know what happened to that lead actress. Tim Burton says he loved it growing up, and faithful followers will love the movie, he is not disrespectful to it. But the previews sure look like a camp send-up, a black comedy. And that was something the original show was not. I love and watch most Johnny Depp movies, but I don't know about this one...By the way, I can still hear the spooky theme song from the old one!!! Did you watch it?

      1. I like J D too, but I was never a Dark Shadows' fan at all.

    3. I can tell you, the episode of NCIS had me in tears, literally. It was far too real looking and close to home for me. And, I love Ducky...so I am wondering how they will get him out of this one. I know it is silly, but I am quite attached to the old boy! As for movies, I have long ago given up to attending them - I think the last one was a Shrek movie! We have a Cinema Cafe here, and if we go, that is where we find a movie - can eat dinner and watch the movie at the same time.

        Oh, I can imagine just how difficult it was for you with the recent heart problems with hubby.

    5. I haven't watched that episode of NCIS yet, but I do hate those cliffhangers. Good to know that Ducky signed on for another two years, so he won't be gone. I haven't seen that Johnny Depp movie, but I've been a fan for years! If you go, be sure to write what you think of it. :-)

    6. I thought of you when I heard about Ducky. Not Ducky!!! Glad to hear he signed a contract.
      We are upset about the Abraham Lincoln movie too and certainly won't be seeing it. Gatsby sounds good though.

      1. Yes, the Lincoln story is just too ridiculous if you want my opinion.

    7. I JUST discovered NCIS. There's not much on TV during the day, and I admit that I like the TV on - for background noise - while I'm sewing. I happened across an NCIS marathon on the USA Network yesterday, and I'm hooked!

      DH and I don't go to the movies. They're just too expensive, and with DH's poor hearing, it's just better for us to wait until they come out on DVD. Plus we can pause it when we need a potty break or to go get a snack.

    8. Ducky! I know! Who knows with writers though… he may be found and saved by a new cute guy they add to the show. Or it's just time for him to retire and he stays dead. I am crossing my fingers for the 1st option.

      1. No....it's not that way [at least for now 'cause like I posted in the little ditty by the image ---he's already signed a contract to return] So, he'll be back on the show next season.

    9. I agree I nearly jump off the couch to give Ducky CPR...he is one of my favorite characters and oh my gosh I've been watching him for years. Remember Man from U.N.C.L.E. Ducky had not aged at all.

      I had not read he signed on for 2 more years...at least I feel better now. LOL

      We haven't been to a theater movie in so long I cannot remember the last one.
      Hugs and happy weekend,

      1. Well, again, it's just what I read online...who knows what truth it holds. But I'm hoping that they're correct in posting that info.

    10. You think Ducky will LIVE???? We were afraid he was the one that was truly dead - - - the others we figured would escape somehow from too much damage in the explosion.

      I have not seen Dark Shadows but love Johnny Depp so I am probably going to try and see it. Maybe next weekend if Christi comes home.
      Chad gave Kaci tickets to see the production of Wicked while it was touring in Austin. They both are still talking about how much they enjoyed it.
      Hope you have a great weekend

      1. I love going to a movie...but thing is, most movies these days are so filled with crime and/or children-teenage flicks. Not much of interest to us ol' geezers. LOL [me and Bud...not you of course]

    14. Sorry I haven't been around lately. My get up and go has got up and went... I have a terrible sinus infection and this darn tooth abscess just will not heal. The Dr. put me on an antibiotic for 20 days. I have not felt good all week, but Wednesday it really hit me and when we got home from work I crashed in my recliner and slept, which is so unusual for me. Thursday morning I slept until 10, again very rare. Anyway, feeling a bit better now.

      I can't even remember the last movie that I have seen at the theater, probably The Blind Side. My hubby is not a movie goer, my kids usually go with friends and I know they don't want Mom tagging along, and I hate going alone, so I don't go.

    15. My husband and I have not been to a movie in ages either. I want to see Dark Shadows on Sunday...loved the show as a kid.
      We are big Bourne Fans so waiting patiently on that one.
      Have a fabulous weekend:)
