FLASH FICTION 55
ON CHRISTMAS EVE 2009.....
Her age-worn hand on her chin
Gazing out the window.
A single tear fell to her lap.
Through the doorway I watched in silence...
"What far away thoughts lay in her mind?"
A girl, a wife, a mother, a grandmother...
Ten decades passed so quickly---
Time took its toll.
Christmas Eve, she passed away. Alone.
How fantastic that is Anni. Your husband is very good with the jigsaw. Happy Holidays to you!
ReplyDeleteWhat a charming " Beleive" sign! Both of you are so talented! I adore the snow on the top of the letters!
ReplyDeleteI have a " Believe" sign in my Den but mine is store bought and no where near as sweet as yours!!
Thanks so much for stopping by.
Hugs,
Debbie @ A Debbie-Dabble Christmas
Love what your husband made for you,,,, you always decorate up beautifully -- a pleasure to see what you have done,
ReplyDeleteoh yes your poem is tender & poignant -- I don't think anyone should die alone, the reality is they do all creatures great & small I would like to believe that there are some 'invisible' helpers or some say angels waiting there in the room to take their hand.
warm wishes,
joanny
This is why, though I exercise, I eat all wrong and don't care. I don't WANT to live to be 100!
ReplyDeleteAnni, I absolutely love the 'Believe!' sign that your husband made! I love that it was made with his own hands and every time you look at it, you can remember his love! How great! My husband is quite handy with wood working...I will have to show him this!! I love your photo above to and the poem of the 'Old Woman.' Time does pass so quickly...I seem keenly aware of that every day that I look at my growing chidren! Thank you! Christie
ReplyDeleteYour mantel looks lovely. Very nice job on the Believe. I also love your template design. Thanks for stopping by.
ReplyDeleteSherry

ReplyDeleteWhat a beautiful mantel arrangement!!! Bud is very talented. Your Flash Fiction 55 is amazing. How did you come up with that concept?
I always smile when I go somewhere with a 'no pets allowed' sign...'cause like you say the furbabies go everywhere.
Happy Weekend,
Madi and Mom
You and Bud did a great job on that Believe!
ReplyDeleteI see you are a red and green gal like me! Your mantel is very Christmasy and the sign is adorable. Thanks for visiting me too!
ReplyDeleteI don't know what it is, but there is just something about words and letters! And when you can make and paint them youself...Even Better! Your mantle is beautiful! I'm still working on mine. But it's getting there.
ReplyDeleteHave a BLESSED weekend!

ReplyDeleteThanks for stopping by and commenting, I truly appreciate all the feedback I get ;)
ps. I have a jigsaw, but I tell you, mine wouldn't turn out so great!!
Sometimes I know how exactly how she feels.the last decades are just a blur of images and sensory overload, and the first ones like picture books bright in primary colors, pages turned til they all have worn corners. I love the photo, the poem, and your Christmas centerpiece. (Mine says Peace.) Great 55 and thanks for coming by my place.
ReplyDeleteVery nice and I love your Christmas blog.
ReplyDeleteCheers!
Rita
