Two years ago, I was at a campaign rally as some of my followers know already. I was chosen to be on the platform with Mr. Obama along with about 50 others, including Bud. We heard his campaign speech, we met another Senator...we had the privilege of shaking Mr. Obama's hand afterward. Later that very night, I, along with all the others that were following him through his campaign for the White House, was on TV via the CNN program. Whooohoo!! AND...while standing through the presidential campaign speech, afterward, after boldly walking up to a Secret Service Man and asking him if I could possibly get the book I was carrying with me all the time, autographed, I
was able to get my copy of Barack Obama's autobiography signed by Obama!! Whether he turned out to be a good leader or bad...I was hoping that one day he'd actually be elected and I could say to my grandkids "I have a book authored and signed by a president of the United States....and, I was there when he signed it". Of this I'm proud. I had to wait for his signature for about 30 minutes. But I got it!!! And now it's framed, alongside my campaign button I wore that very day.

How cool is that. I have a signed letter from Ronald Reagan that is all framed. I have treasured it since I got it. :) I didn't get to shake his had or ever meet him in person, but this is the next best thing. :) Glad you have that and what a cool 55 my friend. You are very clever. :) Have a great Friday and and wonderful Weekend Buxom :)
ReplyDeleteWow Anni.. how very special is that! I love how you've got it all safe in a lovely show case. Someday that book is going to be worth quite a bit of money! How Lucky you are to have met him face to face...Wow
ReplyDeleteVery Clever 55 ... I love google translator...My husband was Chilean born but has lived all but 5 years of his life here in Australia. He can speak Spanish, or shall we say Spanglish but is not proficient in writing the language. We often use google translate to communicate with his family in Chile on Facebook & MSN...fantastic tool. Although you really do need to keep what you want translated free from slang!!
ReplyDeleteFlash Fiction is definitely fun - in any language! :)
ReplyDeleteI loved this, Anni! :)
ReplyDeleteFlash Fiction är verkligen kul! :)
And google translator is a great way to get some laughs... :)
Love/ Jo.
Anni ~ such a clever take on a 55 ~ kudos to you!!

Now that's what I call a show-and-tell, and what an amusing 55, the same sentence in many languages.
ReplyDeleteYou know, I've tried to translate English into Japanese with Google translate, but my wife says it makes no sense at all :(
interesting...
ReplyDeleteAnni, you should be proud of your copy of that book. One day I would like to visit you and actually see it close up and personal. Congratulations!!!
ReplyDeleteHope you and Bud have a fabulous day. Drop by my blog if you get a chance to see what's happened now. Grrr!
Blessings,
Mary
While I may not be a supporter of President Obama, I think it is an honor to meet the president and just awesome to have such a wonderful piece of history to tell and hand down to the generations!
ReplyDeleteThank you so much for stopping by my blog!! I too, lived in coastal Texas (by Galveston) for about ten years. I am back in my home state of Missouri but sure miss the winters in Texas!
I am going to check out some more of your posts!!
Thank you for the tour around the world, Annie. The language class was great!
ReplyDeleteIt surely does get lost in translation, but yours is really an 'original' 55ve :D
ReplyDeleteHi Anni, Wow, all I can say is wow! How lucky to have been there on that platform with Senator Obama, now President Obama. I would have waited in line all day for his autograph. What a treasure of a lifetime.
ReplyDeleteThank you for your visiting and for leaving your sweet comment on "They say we choose our Mother's Tribute" for "show and tell" Friday.
Hugz,
Kim
Only half an hour for such a historical signature ? that was really worthwhile the time. I have not changed my opinion about him, he is very good ! Only the next generations will profit from all the changements he makes now! The years with Bush were very expensive !
ReplyDeletePretty Cool (in any language). And you ARE a Hoot!
ReplyDeleteJacqueline
That's pretty neat.
ReplyDeletePriceless! I'm not the type of person to stand in line for an autograph either, but I would have done that in a heartbeat (or however many it took). I'm envious.
ReplyDeleteIn Russian it's pronounced klasna (gotta know that word when you are working with teens)
ReplyDeleteLove your 55 as always
Love from --->Luna polva escritor
