The Crown of Thorns - in pencil...

PROMPT THIS WEEK: Lick

For some, using a pencil requires licking the lead first....but not me!!-------

Me, pencil sketching...of Jesus and the Crown of Thorns. Personally, this is a good way of taking tension off my shoulders...a way to relax. Besides, I love to draw. In the recent past, I haven't done as much as I used to do when the kids were home...they both loved to watch me take pad and pencil and make a picture in a few hours' work. If I ever made a new year's resolution, this would be one........to begin drawing more again. And perhaps do more dabbling in paints.

  6. I lost a lot of my ability to draw. When my son lived in London I used to go into Pubs and draw the people there. I have a whole book full of these drawings. According to it, I must have been in around 60 Pubs, lol !

  7. I've always wondered why people licked the tip of their pencil before writing. I've tried it before and won't be doing it again. Bleh! Beautiful drawing. I love the resolution to do more artwork. That's one of my goals too!

  8. That is very good. Can you sketch what you see? I always wished I could do that. It seemed like such a wonderful way to pass some time when out&and about.
Hope you're having a good year, so far.

  9. That's beautiful! You are truly talented. Drawing is one thing I really wish I could do, but it doesn't come out of my pencil anything like that!

  16. Anni,

I always enjoy seeing your sketches. I don't lick the lead of a pencil either but do know some people who do. Yuck! LOL

I hope you do sketch more in the year to come and take photos so we can enjoy them.

This is a lazy day for us. We are tired from the long drive home. It wasn't bad going down but when we hit PA on the way home, there was snow and the roads were a little tricky. It took us longer than we thought, but we made it just in time for Mom's New Year's dinner. :-)

    Have a great day.
    Blessings,
    Mary

  17. Happy New Year to you and yours, dear Anni!! I do wish you all the very best in 2010. Oh yes, you must definitely spend more time doing your beautiful artwork, it would be a shame to waste such a talent! I have a hard time drawing a stick figure so I'm always in awe of people, like you, who can draw so well. Your Jesus and Crown of Thorns drawing is simply beautiful. xoxo

  20. I don't get the pencil lead thing either... I much prefer licking envelope glue...

Great sketch. That's one thing that requires opposable thumbs, so you won't see us kitties doing much of it.
