SHOW N TELL

I love cardinals. This vase, I found at the antique mall many moons ago. I loved the rich 'natural' earthy color of the vase...and of course being that there was a cardinal on it didn't hurt any!!

This closeup shows you it's hand painted.

While shopping one day, I spied this fantastic, colorful, cardinal kitchen set. A hand towel, the oven mitt and a pair of pot holders. As oftentimes I bring out my china cardinal collection and set them out on top of the dining room hutch, and the kitchen is visible through carved wooden uprights on the 'half wall'...an open area between the dining room and the kitchen, I thought the kitchen set would be perfect for when I bring my cardinals out again sometime soon; even tho it's more 'holiday-ish' with snow and pine boughs...it's still cardinals.....

FLASH FICTION 55
Roasted bird, dressing,
Cranberries, cheeses, olives, pickles and beets.
Dinner rolls with butter!
Gravy and mashed potatoes...dreamy!
I ate 'til I was ready to burst!
Then, along came the pumpkin pie; homemade and creamy!
I won't eat a thing now, I promised...

Hoping you and Bud had a wonderful Thanksgiving. I'm sure you had a great meal and a relaxing day.
That cardinal vase is beautiful, as is all of your cardinal collection.
Nice to see you back online. Have a wonderful day.
Blessings,
Mary
Your cardinal collection is lovely! I love all birds ;-)
ReplyDeleteLove the vase. Cardinals are so pretty.. I guess the prettiest of all birds. To me that is. Things look so warm and cozy in your photo.
ReplyDeleteWow! I don't blame you for liking so beautiful. Really gorgeous colours! Match perfectly.
ReplyDeleteLove this new blog layout too Anni! You do make everything so lovely. Clever you!
Hugs and Love and thanks for popping over to the UK to see me! Suex
Love this. I wondered what "Going Cold Turkey....or NOT" would be about. I ate so much food yesterday that my gut ached. I'm quitting too many calories "cold turkey" today. :)

Good Morning Sweet Annie...
ReplyDeleteI am so thrilled to see that you had a wonderful time and ate till you popped too. I just love the holidays when we have so many favorite foods to try some of.
I too love cardinals. My folks have a huge gathering of birds in their yard, as they feed the birds daily. I loved watching them while I was there. The Daddy cardinal was always the first bird in the morning to come, and the last bird in the evening to leave. This year he and the Ms cardinal brought 3 little cardinals with them. 2 little males and 1 little female. The little female would sit and holler for her daddy cardinal to feed her. She wouldn't try on her own. The little males just ate away. Moma and Daddy spend many hours in their glass sunroom all winter watching the many birds that come. The have bird feeders galore and have warmers in their bird baths, so the birds can get water. (They live in Oklahoma). I can see why you too love the cardinals. They are so beautiful.
Thanks for sharing this morning. Have a beautiful day sweet thing.
Country hugs and much love...Sherry
Love your cardinals, Annie.....just right for the Christmas holiday....and your Cold Turkey is very appropriate!!!!
ReplyDeleteHow lucky to find such treasures! The cardinals all look so nice together. I hope you show some more of your cardinal collection.
ReplyDeleteLOL, I almost wrote about dieting on Thanksgiving! I couldn't come up with enough words, though.
ReplyDeletep.s. New decor already! You're really on top of things.
ReplyDeleteCold Turkey, Ha! I always laugh and write Ha! when I love it sooo much.
ReplyDeleteI was expecting a confession from an addict.
or maybe it was...
Thanks for stopping by.
Enjoy your family.
What a great collection of cardinals. A family member of my ex's sister used to collect cardinals too. I used to give her cardinal ornaments for Christmas presents.
ReplyDeleteMe too. Friday I fast....for a little while. This week my 55 is WAR!
ReplyDeleteI ended up having lasagna for Thursday's dinner.
ReplyDeleteNow, unlike everyone else in the US, I'm starting to think turkey/stuffing/gravy sounds really good right about now. :)
Fun 55!
My own Friday 55 is right HERE.
.
Loved the poem!
ReplyDeleteI love your Cardinals, too.
I hope you had a great Thanksgiving Day!
I'm still thankful we had a visit from Son & Company but is it alright if I'm thankful the house is now filled with just me, Honey Bear and Smokey. I am exhausted but happy. I love my family, don't get me wrong but it seems I've not stopped since they arrived on Sunday and I had the other grands Saturday for a spend the night.
Hope you're well, my friend.
Mama Bear
How pretty it sure brighten one self up for the holidays.
ReplyDeleteI always been fond of cardinals such bright color birds.
I don't think many will be going cold turkey today the left overs are the best part.
Coffee is on.
But cold turkey is so good how can you quit?
ReplyDeleteHello Anni,
ReplyDeleteSo glad you enjoyed the feast! We were invited by friends to a special lunch on Thursday and it did feel like thanksgiving. Good friends with whom you can communicate are a blessing.
your kitchen set is lovely. I am not into birds in general, but I do love the colors. As I grow I find I need more some simple yet important pleasures like a nice kitchen set which I didn't particularly appreciate a decade ago!
Enjoy the Christmas season. Nice makeover.
Be happy and cheerful.
Hi, Anni,
ReplyDeleteI love your pretty cardinal vase and kitchen set. So very festive and wonderful for the holidays. I, too, enjoy cardinals. I just finished feeding the cardinals in my backyard some sunflower seeds from my bird feeder. Thank you so much for stopping by for a visit at Bunny Cottage. Blessings to you! Vicki(another Texas gal!) p.s. I tried to post a comment earlier, but I don't think it went through. If I have posted comments twice, then please forgive me.
Beautiful vase. Love cardinals, too.
ReplyDeleteLOL I've got to go cold turkey too...I've been losing the same fifteen pounds for ten years!!
ReplyDeleteHappy holiday weekend to you and yours--
Hi Anni!
ReplyDeleteI love cardinals too! I always have to find a Christmas wrapping paper that is filled with cardinals. I love a big box or two to be wrapped in it. It becomes part of m holiday decor!
have a great day!
I love a Holiday 55 Anni!
ReplyDeleteThanks for this filling contribution!
Thanks for being such a great visitor to others as well.
Have a Kick Ass Week-End...
BTW...I have read The Lost Symbol.
And like Davinci Code, and Angels and Demons, I loved them!......Later
Sounds like quite a feast! And there's nothing quite like cold turkey the day after Thanksgiving. I love your cardinal paraphernalia too; we also see alot them in our neck of the woods.
ReplyDeleteO, you must link this up with Ruby Tues....lots of ruby in this post.
ReplyDeleteLove your pretty vase...
xo bj
We dragons don't think you eat enough.
ReplyDeleteNice Flash 55 enjoyed reading it and look forward to reading you again next week.
ReplyDeleteBuggie Land
LOVE all those new kitchen towels & mitts you got. I love Red Birds too. Nothing like a cold bleak winters day & then the flash of those bright red feathers. Happy Happy!
ReplyDeleteThank you for stopping by to see my new doll that I shared on Show & Tell Friday at Cindy's My Romantic Home. I have gotten her out of her Thanksgiving outfit & have her up for Christmas in a whole new vingette. I hope you will stop by on Monday to see my post for that. Have a wonderful weekend.
whats a festival celebration without over eating ;O) ?? nice 55 fiction !
ReplyDeleteCardinals are my favorite, their colours are beautiful, looks like you are having fun with the theme.
ReplyDeleteWe love cardinals at our house too! The St. Louis Cardinals are our favorite baseball team, but we love the real bird regardless. They really seem perfect for winter decorations and holiday decor like you found on the kitchen items.
ReplyDeleteThanks for visiting the other day. I love the cardinals. They remind me of Indiana. We don't see them in Utah. Have a great day.
