We're not out of the Wood's yet.....Mr. Jim Shore!

RANT: Tell me....what IS it with the media? Can't they just report something, and then just leave it? For the last few days all we've seen and heard ---TV, newspaper, online news, sports sites, etc. etc. etc. is Tiger Woods!! Golly, he had an automobile accident. Like that is newsworthy? No vital, death threatening injuries, no one else hurt ---it was just him. He is keeping silent about this, the media tho grinds the same ol' story over and over and over again...then, to repeat themselves more ---like with CNN, the 'article and discusssion' of Woods is shown every 15 minutes or so---updating us on the same thing that was covered at the top of the hour. He hit a fire hydrant, and then a tree...was injured....at 2 something in the morning. They stated [even with an appointed press agent that speaks for Tiger]...that there was no alcohol involved...what about drugs?....but, really with him being a 'star'---just slap his wrists, let him pay his fine..

Once again this was a 'difficult subject' being that I always like to try and find something a bit different than what I think others will post about. They're, of course, wind turbines. The photo isn't the best, it was taken from the car. A wind turbine is a rotating machine which converts the kinetic energy of wind into mechanical energy. If the mechanical energy is used directly by machinery, such as a pump or grinding stones, the machine is usually called a windmill. If the mechanical energy is instead converted to electricity, the machine is called a wind generator, wind turbine, wind power unit (WPU), wind energy converter (WEC), or aerogenerator. Turbines used in wind farms for commercial production of electric power are

CLICK EITHER BUTTON to join SHOW N TELL I love cardinals. This vase, I found at the antique mall many moons ago. I loved the rich 'natural' earthy color of the vase...and of course being that there was a cardinal on it didn't hurt any!! This closeup shows you it's hand painted. - - - While shopping one day, I spied this fantastic, colorful, cardinal kitchen set. A hand towel, the oven mitt and a pair of pot holders. As oftentimes I bring out my china cardinal collection and set them out on top of the dining room hutch, and the kitchen is visible through carved wooden uprights on the 'half wall'...an open area between the dining room and the kitchen, I thought the kitchen set would be perfect for when I bring my cardinals out again sometime soon; even tho it's more 'holiday-ish' with snow and pine boughs...it's still cardinals..... - - -<><><>- - - FLASH FICTION 55 We sat down

HOLIDAY from Bloggin'....

Image
I WILL return to blogging on Friday hopefully. This week, with baking in the near future, blood tests [I always set up THAT before the big, fat consuming, meal ----less worries about cholesterol when I just know beforehand that I'll sup up way too much greasy gravy, butter, calorie rich pumpkin custard, dressing and more]. I have a mammogram scheduled [I may postpone this for a later date in December tho...depends], shopping, and cleaning...I pro'lly won't even turn the computer on during all this. HAPPY THANKSGIVING TO ALL THOSE WHO CELEBRATE!!! And to those who are not observing the holiday ---hope the rest of the week is a happy one!!! If you have plans to travel for the holiday ---be safe!! Well, it's that time of year. From late October to early April they show up near where Bud and I live! We've lived here for the past 5 years, and tho we've never been to the refuge during the months our migrating visitors arrive to spend the winters with us, I vowed that this year we WILL get there! It seems like something was always 'in the works' like painting the interior one winter [yes, we do our housework repairs during the Fall and Winter before it gets too hot], or exterior housework, or yard landscaping project and even one season we both got a terrible bout of the flu and neither of us felt like going anywhere! We never got the opportunity yet. I've been thinking about them for the last month, and wondering if any have arrived yet. Then, the other day in the newspaper and on the front page, the article I've been waiting for patiently, appeared. Altho the wildlife refuge they spend their winters is nearly 50 miles or better from our home, I&#

CLICK EITHER BUTTON to join SHOW N TELL These three little holiday items are dollar store finds. I couldn't let them just sit on the shelf and not take them home. What the heck...they were only a dollar a piece. Actually, I just took an hour to pass some time to look for cheap Christmasy things. Altho, the dollar stores really don't have too many choices, I do like my santas!! All three are actually candy dishes. The two identical santa heads are with red wire handles...basket-like. While the round dish of nothing but santa heads is short in height. I'm thinking that would be a good one to sit on the kitchen counter to be a 'catch-all' for keys, loose change, etc. Who knows just what use they all will have come December. - - -<><><>- - - FLASH FICTION 55 The jay scampered, searching for his fill Acorns and pecans slowly hidden by rime, He gathered but only one within his bill. Yes....well, let's put it this way, I love the game. I tellya, I've always liked playing with balls....and lots of 'em even makes the play more fun!! I like the long slender stick too. Eight ball in the corner pocket! I win....rack 'em up. Double or nothing. 3. Does anyone on the planet really want to see Levi Johnston naked in Playgirl (other than when Bristol Palin did)? Huh? I'm probably the only one that is going rogue on this!! The way the question is written, it's like we all saw him the same time Bristol did....I think n

Click either button to Join - - - This is a continuation from Last Week's Wednesday post/meme participation 'cause it turned into a lon-n-n-g post. If you missed the day's entry a week ago, you can open the link; opening in a new window.... By the time we left the park and entered once again the little burg of Calallen, Texas, we turned south and headed toward Robstown again. The Fairgrounds for the county is a huge complex! [This is where we went to see Hillary Clinton & she gave her presidential campaign speech in February 2008]. As you've probably already heard in the news about the Fort Hood, Texas massacre a couple of weeks ago. At the time, President Obama ordered that all Federal buildings [governmental be they U.S., state, county] fly the American Flag at half mast to honor those who had their lives taken because of the shootist. Here, at the outside area of the Fairgrounds Pavilions, our state flag [which by the way is one state flag that can
