All I can think of this morning because of my Ruby Tuesday photo share, is lyrics by Jimi Hendrix....

There's a sweet little girl that lives down the street
Some people think she's square but I think she's sweet
You can see her every [Halloween?] day, strolling up and down the way
Looking so pretty and this is what I say
She's got it
Ooh baby, she's got it
Ooh baby, she's got it
I can't do without her
Big blue eyes, long black hair
Dimpled cheeks and she's no square
She's got it
Ooh baby, she's got it
Ooh baby, she's got it
I can't do without her
Ruby lips, shapely hips
When she walks down the street all the cats flip.........

Well, yesterday Bud and I got our flu shots. Finally. I think I've heard that we should be inoculated the month of October to be safe for the upcoming season. I tellya, I'm not one much for vaccinations, and in the past I've rarely had them. But the last two years Bud and I both came down with the nasty stuff, and it took nearly six weeks to get it out of our system. And for the both of us it was during the Christmas Holiday season. Since we're maybe, hopefully, going to have company on Christmas day, I want to NOT be sick this time around. I vowed to have the shot this year. I'm getting to the age that it's not good to catch this stuff. Now, I'm opting out for the swine flu shot for the time being. I don't feel comfortable for this yet. And maybe never will be. I feel that the vaccine has not been tested long enough, and you know the reputation of the FDA around here. LOL ---One day it's trusting and 'good to go' while the next day, something is dreadfully wrong with it. I just hope the side effects from the flu shot that we DID get isn't going to put me in bed. I've also heard about some people getting flu like symptoms from the vaccine itself. Holy Moley!!

Also, yesterday and Sunday after the noon hour, we got torrential rains! Not that I'm complaining...we still need to catch up on the rainfall total from the drought this last summer. While the rains came yesterday, I spent most of my 'busy computer time' burning photo discs! I've so many photos that have been stored on the computer...gigabytes+ worth, that I thought since it's raining and I'm not gonna go anywhere soon after being out in the storm to get the flu shot, I might as well begin doing that project that I've put off far too long. Irene, this past couple of months has been sending me photos of her and the boys that I've saved and want to put on a disc for eventually getting some hard copies made too. Oh, and besides, I want to make room for MORE photos that I plan on scanning from albums to make my sister a Sister's Day gift of photos of the two of us growing up together and then going our separate ways as adults. I just KNOW she'll like that. And even tho our celebration isn't until March of 2010, I also know that there will be a lot of work involved in the project --scanning, cutting, sizing, and making a 'movie' DVD for her to play on their big screen TV; with music and special effects.

---Today, if my father were still alive, he be celebrating his 97th birthday.

  1. I'm with you Anni with regard to the swine flu shot. I'll just take sensible precautions for now. As you say, it hasn't been tested enough.

Good luck with all you copying, printing and generally tweaking of your photos. Have fun!

  7. Thank you Anni for the visit. Your doll does have a huge red lips for the occasion you have over there. Aussies are not much of it. Some are only trying hard to be copycats. You and your sis do sound like very close broods which is good. I'm sure she will love you bits when she'll get your birthday present. Hmmm you give me an idea. My eldest daughter will be turning 21 next year and it's a big thing here down under when some young people turns 21!

  9. I can only imagine how wonderful your gift for your sis is going to be. I was looking at some of Mom's albums this week-end and realized how very many pictures there are of my sister and me posing together. I need to do something with those pictures.

Enjoy your cozy day in the house - hopefully with no side effects from the shot.

  18. LOL! That IS a cute little witch! I'm sure I would love her striped stockings! Funny that you associated that JH song to her -- all the cats flip! LOL! (black cats, I'm sure!)

I am actually expecting a new witch at my house today! I understand she is heading toward my house even as I type!

  22. Anni,

Your witch is delightful. I have a witch that the boys gave me but she hangs outside on the porch. She's blue and you can see her in one of the photos I posted for Halloween. She is a keeper.

Glad you got your flu shot. We get ours every year. I've never had any side effects from it. We will be getting ours in November sometime. The only ones getting it here right now are those over 65 or with major health problems. I'm not planning to get the swine flu shot anytime soon either. I agree there hasn't been enough testing done on it and I wonder what the long term effects will be.

Sounds like a wonderful project you're planning for your sister. I'm glad you are so close.

You and Bud have a pleasant day and do something fun.

    Blessings,
    Mary

  26. What a fantastic picture for Ruby Tuesday!! And the Hendrix tune, perfect added touch...
Glad you got your flu shot and I hope you and Bud stay healthy this year, Bill and I had ours a couple of weeks ago. We are gonna get the H1N1 if we can find one, it is in quite short supply, especially in Florida - we just don't like the worst side effect of getting the H1N1 virus and Bill has underlying liver disease.
Happy Birthday to your dad, Bill's Dad would have been 97 on the 3rd of October.
    Happy Halloween to you, too...

  27. I'm glad you got your flu vaccination. We got ours at the beginning of the month. Re: swine flu...it will be hard for senior citizens to get the vaccination. Order of priority is healthworkers, small children, school kids of all ages - through college. We're at the bottom of the list for this one. Apparently we were exposed to this as children and have some immunity as a result. H1N1 is not killing seniors, but it is endangering the young. Who knew?

  29. Hello there Anni! Your ruby lipped witch is great for RT this week. I hope you can stay dry and that there won't be flooding where you are!! Enjoy your week and Halloween!!

  31. That was one cool song, and one cool red-lipped witch! :)

On to other things: we also have regular flu shots. All worth it really. ;)

  32. Hi Anni, this is a nice Halloween post! Thank you. Thanks to for your nice B D a y wish.
We had our flu shot a couple of weeks ago and I only had a slightly sore arm. I used to think (when I was in the Army and it was mandatory) that it gave me the flu every year. Like sympathy flu.
I do like the Jimmi Hendrix song. I have come to like him as well. Somehow he was never big for me before except for his notoriety in the singing of the Star Spangled Banner. Janis Joplin was my big crush in those days. And CWR.
Happy RT! :-) I like your plush doll and your sticker. I won't get one, but thank you.
    ..
Oh yes, my dad died at age 97, two years ago.

  33. Fun photo of your witch doll with ruby red lips. Perfect for Ruby Tuesday, have a wonderful week!

  34. Your witches are always so cute !
I never got a flu shot and I am against it. Most of my friends however do. Our doctors here recommend not to take the piggy flu shot. It's alot of panic making for nothing else but pharma industry business. They want to make money on our backs. I heard on the German TV that there is even toxic stuff in the vaccination. No thank you the pharma bosses can use it up themselves and for their families !

  35. Love those ruby lips! (Oh yeah and the stripped stockings!)

  36. I do love all your holiday graphics and want to thank you for sharing your weekly treats. Hopefully I'll actually get around to posting them this week before it's too late. Life's been busier than ever it seems so I've not had much time for blogging.

I'm a bit jealous about your rain ... we've had almost none and it's so dry here things are dying off ... I've decided to plant some cactus just because. I've not gotten a flu shot for decades because of my Epstein Barr, but I'm sorely tempted to get this one when it becomes available. I plan to discuss it with my doctor first though.

As for photos ... mine are on an external Terabyte hard drive but NEED to be backed up soon. I've had trouble with Photoshop Elements lately after my umpteenth Dell crash. Have I mentioned that I'm frustrated with Dell and Vista??? One of these days I may just reformat the sucker and install XP Pro to get some stability again. I know Windows7 will have 'bugs' to work out and methinks I don't want to be a guinea pig.
    Hugs and blessings,

  37. I love your RT photo. Excellent. I use to burn all the photos I have on disc and then decide what a waste of time. I got myself two portable drives and store them on there. Why two...incase one one crashes I have a back up. Yes it's a little expensive, but it so beats burning them on a disc then hoping the disc plays on any computer. Plug and play I say. My work gives us our flu shots ever year. Free can you believe that? Have a great RT :)

  38. She's got pretty ruby lips!!!

  39. I have been trying to get my photos on to a cd also. I am trying to put them in years and events, but on some I forgot to write down the date.So we have to leave it up to memory, and that sometimes is not good.
    Thanks for sharing'

  40. Your witch doll has such a darling face...she don't scare me at all! hehe When we were at the pumpkin farm on Saturday, I went into their gift shop and they had some gorgeous witches, about 4 feet tall. I took a picture of one to show you which I'll post tonight.

I've never had a flu shot and don't intend to start now. Touch wood but I've never had a bad flu, I only seem to get a head cold once or twice a year. I agree with you on the swine flu shot, not enough research has been done on that one!!!

I have a bunch of photos I need to burn on disc as well. I try to never let them add up on my computer since my computer is old and one of these days will stop working on me and I don't want to lose any photos!!

Now on to reading the rest of your posts I missed while away. xoxo

  41. Those are quite the red lips! Love the poem and also your thoughts regarding flu shots! I have never had a flu shot but I am a bit worried about this season...and, I am feeling insecure about the swine flu shot...for the same reasons...what to do?

  42. Great shot Anni! Happy Halloween!

  45. Anni, she's a beauty! Well...within the frame of reference in which she exists!

I read your note about saving photos. I used a service called mypublisher.com to make books for my family last year. It's a free download and pretty idiot-proof (which is what I needed) and the books were very reasonably priced for gifts. Result: many relatives crying but very grateful. You might want to check them out since you've already done the hard part of getting the photos onto a computer (scanning the old ones is such a time sink). This is NOT a paid production, just an idea that brought great joy to my family.

  46. Great Ruby Red lips...and shapley hips....

  47. Oh those red lips...:-)

  48. This 'witch' is too cute to be scary, the nicest mix of ruby and green, a real doll! I haven't decided if a shot is in order or not. I'd skip usually, but do wonder about the implications of that...I have probably scanned about 1000 old prints earlier in the year - I tired of that then, but feel the need to scan and preserve more. The history behind the photos is worth maintaining!
