“A wise old owl lived in an oak;
The more he saw the less he spoke;
The less he spoke the more he heard...
Why can't we all be like that bird?”

This is the 2nd slide show You Tube movie [link] I have made for this tour...
Steam...as in Steam Heat!! Steam bath!! I looked up in Google to try and find a photo of this to depict it....to get me a little 'header' graphic. Nada, zilch. But I did find the little ditty on "Handbook for Heating and Ventilating Engineers by James David Hoffman, Benedict Frederick Raber (1913)
"Suggestions for Exhist steam heat, Apr. 7, 1904, p. 332. An Improved steam heat. ... A Unique Low Pressure steam heat. Apparatus, Feb. 1909, p. 38. ..." Then, just below this it read OTHER SOURCES OF STEAM HEAT....well, I got one for ya. It's called Corpus Christi!! Yep, definitely a source of steam heat these days. Tho historically the area is in the deepest drought since records have been kept...it's still STEAMY!! The Gulf gives us that. The temps climb to near 100 degrees by midday and the humidity is so high...we have STEAM. LOLOLOLOL But really, you think subtropical...I'm in the steamy, heated, subtropics....you read the words steam heat, and think "Flamingos"....right? You don't? Well you should!!! 'Cause I'm gonna show you some. They love to be near water...surrounding themselves with steam heat!!! Okay, okay...just go with the flow here, I gotta work in 'steam' somehow for the post. Above, the slide show is from a morning tour at the Botanical Gardens in Corpus Christi that Bud and I attended last week! From this month through Labor Day, they're having a 'Flamingo Fandango" Contest...decorating those plastic ones as you see from my You Tube!

  3. WHY would you want to heat and ventilate an engineer? I think -- unless he was very cold -- he would object, especially to that "ventilate" part!

    I loved the music that went with this wacky and wonderful flamingo video. Your Ruby Tuesday has been the best I've seen so far!

  4. Quilly Don't ask me...I thought the whole thing quite odd...but the date, maybe that explains the thinking. Who knows. LOL

    Thanks for the sweet comment on my R T

  5. Love the flamingos! I had the music turned down at first...that just adds to the whimsy! You have to LOVE a flamingo! I was told no flamingos when we moved to PA (by my 12 yo!) I keep them in my room, I fixed her!

  7. Ahahahaa Anni! This is soooo cute! I was watching the video then peeked at what you'd written and saw you had been the one to dress them that way. Got a big smile on my face from that. =)

  9. I've missed a couple of days, but now I'm back! What a fun slide show - and what a fun time you must have had seeing all the crazy flamingos. I have to say that you are tougher than I - I could not survive in that kind of steamy weather. I'd curl up in a ball and die!

    We have a thing going on in this town that is from somebody's group at a church - they'll sneak in at night and fill a friend's front yard with a flock of flamingos. They'll stay there for awhile until that family decides on who to "flamingo" next. It's kinda fun.

    Here's praying for rain! It's amazing that you can have such drought and still be steamy, isn't it?

  12. That sounds as if you were living in a Hammam ! Isn't that difficult to support such a humid heat ? The flamengos are funny birds, I only know them from the zoo ! Nice video

  15. This is a nice slide show, Anni. I like flamingos to look at if I don't have to get very close.

    Mrs. Jim bought half a bench in that garden. It is dedicated to our dear friend, deceased. Her name was Florence Wolff . There is a plaque on the bench for her. We have not seen it.

These are DARLING! What a FUN display! Did YOU decorate one??? I would love to! I might have to make a quick trip to CC just for flamingos! LOL! Well anyway... they're a perfect RT!

  17. Omigosh, those dressed up flamingos are so delightful! I have never seen anyone decorate their yard with those plastic flamigos around here, I guess because it's not something we ever see, we're just not "steamy" enough here! hehe I can't even imagine having such hot and humid weather like you have, as I've said before I melt if it even gets close to 80F! lol xoxo

  20. Lovely post you got here. I love flamingos. The only pink animal apart from Pink Panther(grin) I think. I did not know they lived among steam, though (?)

  21. Anni,

    The Flamingo Fandago Contest looks like it's going to be a lot of fun. I can just imagine some of the get-ups on those birds.

    Yes, I can imagine how steamy it is for you right now. I've been hoping you'd get some rain in your parts. I'm sure you're tired of trying to keep your yard and garden green and beautiful.

    Hope you have a great day.
    Blessings,
    Mary

    I'm so glad the iris are still doing okay. That's a blessing to hear.

    I was hoping I'd get to see all the flowers - thanks for sending the link.

    It's a good thing we each like where we live, huh??
