A New Year's Gift for you.... edition #87 In hopes of getting thirteen visitors that will participate for New Year's Day 2009, I would like to make the Thursday Thirteen 'interactive' in a way. I would like a bit of participation here....saying goodbye to 2008 and welcoming in 2009 In the comments , please list ONE thing that happened to you that made life difficult for you , and then ONE thing that happened that made your life wonderful for you , list one thing that you'd like to see happen in 2009. Wednesday, December 31st, 2008 5:30 A.M. My sister's 66th birthday today! Join -Wordful Wednesday Ten Years ago today they opened the cockpit of one of my favorite modern military planes. As a member of the Air Museum, I was invited to attend the showing. On any given normal day, the planes are sealed shut, and the windows 'white-washed'. I was chosen to have the opportunity to actually climb aboard and sit to pose for a photo op while 'piloting' the infamous super sonic jet!! I was thrilled as you can see by the expression on my face. I can't be gin to tell you what it felt like to touch the instruments and the joy stick!! Naturally my pose was a 'thumbs up' stance as I readied for take off. [I wish!!] Alas, the plane was grounded. Oh well, again I must say it is a dream to fly one. [from Wikipedia] The Lockheed SR-71 was an advanced, long-range, Mach 3 strategic reconnaissance aircraft developed from the Lockheed A-12 and YF-12A aircra

Tuesday, December 30th, 2008 5:00 A.M. Join Here WATCH -- Sunrises, movies, "our 'watch' cat", and YES WE CAN!! My first passion is to watch movies. Bud and I used to have a habit of going to the movies every Friday. We just don't do it any more. For us, recently...like in the last year or so, we've come to realize that the movie writers and the movie genres are just not up to being worth the money or the time and effort sitting at the theater, watching the same stuff over and over again, but with different actors. The action movies are so similar it's hard to tell them apart. A lot of movies are insipid but they're big 'draws' because of who's in it even tho the script is mundane. The pay that the 'big celebrities' get is atrocious when the rest of the world suffers from an economic crisis....writer's strikes....you name it. But, I still LOVE TO WATCH Movies!!!! Now, we wait until they are released on DVD. A

Monday, December 29th, 2008 6:50 A.M. I've been tagged by Peppylady , with the "First Sentence Meme" Take the first post you wrote for each month, the first sentence. Note: Naturally, I just copied and pasted the first part of the blog entry....there are, in some cases, more than a sentence. I really liked November for me! roflmao. January 2008: I make no resolutions for sanity's sake. The task of keepin' 'em, will-pow'r it'd take... Resolve to lose weight would be excellent, but- This here idea of dieting is not pro, but con! Y'see? I never turn away from a delectable.... fresh from the ovens, 'n' hot-baked * Cinnabon! February 2008: A long time ago, in days of yore, I was convinced that white walls were best for our lifestyle. March 2008: Party? Party it is. A challenging subject since I'm not a 'partying-type person'. I took this photo off our TV screen is of a 'different kind of party'

Sunday, December 28th, 2008 4:25 A. M. For a couple of weeks off and on, I've been working on this post. There is a mixture of things that has crossed my mind and I wanted to write about them. Some interesting, fun things I've read [making a special "2008 Award"], a poem [Four Seasons© -found below all this] I composed after walking around in the damp, chilled air before Christmas, contemplating life...things like that. Today, I post it all. Along with the Sunday's meme I participate in. [if you know of any one or any blog that has been extra-special for 2008, you're more than welcome to grab the award and pass it on to others] - - - Play along with your subconscious; Sunday's Word Association. Join Here Category: SQUEAKY Posted for Saturday, December 27th 12:01 A.M. Honestly, I have nothing that is squeaky ...not even a door hinge. But by the day's end, I'll have polished and scrubbed everything down to where it all squeaks with cleanliness.... Somewhere in time the house will be so clean, it'll squeak when I do the finger test! In the meantime, these photos show that I'm in the midst of packing all my Santas away for the season.... I can see the light at the end The stuff will be stuffed and we'll again have a house... The Santas'll be packed and soon'll nothing will be stirring... Not EVEN a squeaky mouse!!! HAVE A GREAT NEW YEAR'S EVE! May 2009 bring your life filled with happiness and joy...

Thursday, December 25th, 2008 2:50 PM We had a very nice, peaceful Christmas so far. I haven't been online for nearly two days now with the automatic posting feature, and I missed 'chatting and visiting' with y'all. Two days ago, I got word that my aunt Marjorie had passed away. She was the last relative from my mother's side of the family of their generation. Marjorie had been a widow for many years [my mom's brother], after Arlo died of cancer....when I was a very young adult. Right now, I can't even remember if Irene was born at the time of his death or not. But, you can see just how long Marjorie outlived her husband....Irene will be 40 in April of 2009. We won't be going to the funeral as we don't like to drive long distances any more, and the town she will be buried in, is having blizzard-like conditions. Bud and I sent flowers. In other news, we exchanged gifts early this morning. As always not much. I bought Bud some new swea

Wednesday, December 24th, 2008 3:25 A.M. Join -Wordful Wednesday Our dear Winston, wants to be part of the spirit of the holidays I guess. He thought it best that he try to get as close to the gifts as possible. Yet, maybe he was trying to tell us something. Either he's laid claim to this gift, or he's insinuating that we not forget his gifts....he knows which stocking is his, and he may have been implying that all gifts that he touches, or lays on, is his....and he wants the stocking filled also. He purzzzz to the big guy in the red sweat suit with the belly that shakes like jelly ---he was a GOOD Boy!!! But....would he look at me when I turned on the digital? No!!! Was he embarrassed to have been caught at his antics? Yes!!!!

Tuesday, December 23rd, 2008 6:20 A. M. Join Here TAILS this week: "This time of Year" We are prompted to tell all about what we do/don't like this time of year. Okay, I'll tell you my one big pet peeve ...well, wait, TWO big pet peeves for the season. My pet peeve for the season...traffic congestion. 'nough said. Okay. let me get it off my chest....you have this off ramp from the freeway....here in Texas, the highway system is to be commended...I'm totally impressed with the 'spaghetti turns'...where you don't have to wait for traffic lights and traffic build-up to get off the freeway and onto the other side of the road...it's awesome. But then you have these nincompoops who don't know whether they want to get off and make the spaghetti turn OR continue on towards the traffic light...there is always a lot of frustration with all the drivers and seldom anyone that is composed enough to let it all slide and go with the flow..
