Join Here This week, for Photo Hunt, the category is blue . The other day, while it was warming up from the chilly night before, and the sun was out shining ever so brightly, our back yard was 'alive' with flying moths and butterflies. This blue moth was very busy going from one blossom to the next around our Pyracantha [the orange berries that bird life loves!] and the Duranta bush [the purple flowers]. I captured several photos of different ones that were flitting from the Duranta and the Lantana bush... [there is a moth in the bottom left photo --near the top center...his wings are in motion...enlarge it!]

Join Here This is just a small wooden sign with witch shoes as the pedestals. I found this for a couple of dollars at Kirklands in the mall this month. For as much as I love witches, I thought it would be an appropriate addition to my collection. LOL Hey? You know the saying, if the shoe fits!!! If you enlarge the photo you can see the witch's shoes -the dowels are the legs. I just found this this past week on sale at Walgreen's Drug Store! Naturally, it's a witch clock! With a haunting graphic in the background of a witch flying across the moon. And the clock's hands are orange of course. But the nifty thing of it is, it chimes on the hour. After adding the 3 AAA batteries in the back battery encasing, I could set the chimes by pushing and holding it down --in five different intervals. There are four different chimes. But, not all at once...each hour the chime is different. One is a witch cackling, another is wolves howling, and another is distant b

Halloween Humor -edition #81 1] You know you're too old for trick 'r treating if: When someone drops a candy bar in your bag, you lose your balance and fall over. When the door opens you yell, "Trick or..." and you can't remember the rest. You're the only Power Ranger in the neighborhood with a walker. You ask for high fiber candy only. You get winded from knocking on the door. 2] When Trick 'r treating, avoid these houses: Any house whose only entrance goes to the basement. Any house that growls "get out." Any house that wasn't there only a minute ago... 3] Trick 'r treating by your 'sign'-- Aries pushes the others aside to get to the door first. Taurus will only eat the finest of Swiss chocolates. Gemini goes around the neighborhood once, changes costumes and goes around again. Cancer stays at home and gives candy to the other trick-or-treaters. Leo plans their costume for months, then won't go out because someone e

Join Here Heads or Tails this week: Tell a scary story (Real or otherwise) Here is a short story I published long long ago.  It continues to be on my personal website that was started back in the 90s when there wasn't such a thing as blogs. I just copied it and pasted it here as it appears on my web site sans the animated graphics of course. It's entitled October Moon© [please, do not steal or copy] On this October night, I find myself walking through the country fields, into the forest entertaining the thoughts of a costume party I am to attend. My chiffon gown radiates silvery blue in the light of the autumn moon. It billows ghostlike with the breeze. Toting my silken slippers in hand, I walk on. Through the thin wispy clouds moonbeams guide me toward the trees. Ahead, the forest entices. As my foot falls, the sea of grasses yields to my step. With each stride, down-like seeds from the golden blades beneath me take flight. From a distance a dog barks, echoing back to me. N

Please...come in...sit a spell. Our hostess has made it clear that we're going to celebrate [Halloween or otherwise] today. All Hallow's Eve is my Very Bestest time for Autumn! The house is decorated... The candy is everywhere... Both Bud and I make sure we are in top shape for the festivities. [by the way, Bud usually goes as the Hunchback --he does a good 'stooped shouldered geezer'--errrr, ummmm, shuffling guy!] So,....come into my parlor. The hot cider is mulled... The pumpkins are glowing... The eerie music is playing... Sit a short while Upon you, I'll cast a spell... ---- Okay, that rendition is done, seriously tho, this is one of the best days of the year for me. Halloween, that is. Since I was a child, we have always had such fun. I remember my first Halloween party I attended as a teenager. Bobbing for apples; games galore. Dancing. Costumes. A particular game comes to mind that I can still recall. And taste, and feel still toda

She has given us strengths in her own words that can carry us beyond the downs and outs of life and give us hope. In so

A couple of weeks ago, Mary at Mary's Writing Nook , tagged me with the Friend Meme Tag. I must admit that it totally slipped my mind...[I HAVE been eating too much fatty foods...guess that explains it...see, fat...greasy, slippery...oh well, if you need it explained to you, it wasn't that funny to begin with, now, was it?] I'm to write about a friend of mine. Teri, of course, came to mind. She remains living in Colorado, hasn't moved out of the home she and her hubby bought in the 70's. Friends, through the years, MaryEllen, Carollynn, Reneé, Sharon, Patty [who is my kids' godmother] Tom, Bob, Tommy, Hank, Frank [died in Viet Nam]...all lifetime friends. Online friends, Mary of course, Melli, Nancy, Erlene, Pea, a whole slew of them...you're all considered friends. Then, family --yes, they're the best --Irene, Erik, Bud --my furbabies. Sister and brothers. A favorite aunt of mine...*another Mary. My dad...My mom.... But Teri, my one and on
