About | Theme: "CLOUD[s]" | Roll
Next week "DARK"

Clouds of color --Sunset from our backyard in Texas. Clear skies...no pollution ever. I like where I'm at now. In fact, the sea breezes keep the pollution down that the car emissions [for now anyway] aren't a problem. Even the oil refineries up west and north of us aren't a threat to our lungs. Nice!!! And crisp, clean skies when it's clear of storms overhead...amazing colors. Enlarge it, and you can see the cloud in front of the sun as it sets. [I've posted this photo before]

- - -

Then...[two reasons we decided to relocate to where we live now--]

BROWN CLOUDS
Both of these photos were taken from the foothills, looking 'in to the cities' --if you're IN the downtown areas, and look up, you don't see the pollution...

In Colorado, I've been driving in this. One time coming back from the eastern borders of the state, from I-70 [highway] looking toward Denver the smog and pollution was so bad it was reminiscent of Split Pea Soup it was soooo, icky green!! I just didn't like it. There were many times that there were Bad Air Alerts in this city, and all up and down the Eastern Slope [the Eastern side of the Rockies! --From Wyoming to New Mexico! All because of Denver's and Colorado Springs' air quality.] I looked and looked for my photo I have looking west from the Kansas border ---looking toward the mountains in the horizon where you couldn't even SEE the city skyline except for the top of a couple of skyscrapers the brown cloud was so thick...so I could scan it for this week's prompt, but I couldn't locate it in any album. Good thing I guess, it wouldn't be good for the tourist trade. LOL

And then, Phoenix. More of the same. A big huge covering of the 'brown cloud'. For some reason, Tucson [where we lived] wasn't as bad but getting right up there with Phoenix, still... driving into Phoenix, well that's a whole 'nother story. More 'soupy-brown' clouds.

[comment link below the following TAG, or if you prefer --here]

Mary tagged me. With an easy tag. One I can handle. hehehehe

The rules:
All you have to do is Google your first name with the word needs behind it and post the first 10 results. Don't forget to tag people (if you are the tagging sort)!

Here's what Google listed:
I went with "Annie" 'cause Google asked me if I meant Annie instead of how I spell it, with just the 'i', Anni---

  • Anni[e] needs to be rescued by the armed forces
  • Anni[e] needs a home
  • Anni[e] needs to release a LIVE album!
  • GRANNIE ANNI[E] NEEDS A MIRACLE
  • Need Comfort? Visit: Anni[e]'s Comfort Page
  • She needs more friends or more
[I LIKE THIS next one...sounds like me! LOL]
  • Anni[e] is a 4-year-old mix and desperately needs a good, loving home. she is best outdoors with room to run & play, and she loves to play
  • Anni[e] needs jingles....
  • Anni[e] Needs Love
  • Anni[e] needs a family!

  • ::singing::I'm so lost and all alone...in need of love, family, jingles, room to run and play, miracles, an album, home, are ----WHO WILL RESCUE ME?

Normally, I don't tag anyone, but since this is quite easily accomplished and you don't have to think or type much...just copy and paste, I'm going to tag, Grams, Mary, Denise, Diane, and Denise [Shortybear]. [but only if you wanna] And if anyone else feels they want to do this same tag...feel free!!!

    1. That's a breathtaking sunset. I think every sunset has its own beauty.

It's really sad when pollution creates a mask and covers the real beauty of the sky.

    2. What an amazing sky you had ! and it's so sad to see these brown skies ! The worst I ever had was now in Athenes, there the air was so stinky I thought I would be behind a dammaged truck ! and there was smog below the clouds. Really awful !
The Google game with "Anni" is cute, I should see what I am or do !

    4. I keep thinking of Both Sides Now by Joni Mitchell - I really don't know clouds...at all.
(and then Tom Hanks says in "You've Got Mail" What does that mean - know clouds at all? I never understood that song! :)
Lovely photos Hon. My clouds are almost purple on a winter day - drop by!

    10. Ew, the dirty clouds are very icky! I can see why you would not want to breathe that into your lungs. The first photo is beautiful!

    11. (second try -- had to login to my google account which I don't use often) -- colours in your photo remind of Tuscany -- that orange-gold-yellow is pure brilliance. Thanks for stopping by this week. Larry in Vancouver.
PS: you need to come up to Vancouver and smell the fresh, clean mountain air here!

    15. I can totally understand that you wanted a change of enviroment. Were I live I´m fortunate enough to not have those kind of problems with the air - even though I notice that things get dirty in a bad way in the town and the air is a lot better where we have our summercottages.

I am glad you are getting closer to the end of the hurricane season and hope that you stay safe. The bird hotel is nice. Take care,

    27. I am so thankful for where we live- no pollution or smog to spoil the air or the view-just the occasional load of cow manure on the fields around the house.

    29. Lovely sunset!!
I grew up with pollution...I could see the dirt covering the city when looking down from the mountains. One couldn't see the city, just the brown, dirty clouds covering it... I am happy I have clear air now!!
      Happy weekend :)

    33. Lovely cloud photo...for sure stay away from pollution. We have had over 30 days of smokey skies from lightning strike fires in the surrounding areas.

    37. Great take on the theme. We all hate to see those 'man-made' clouds don't we. I've seen a few in my travels. Did you ever notice how when they take those photo's for the brochures and post cards that they are always on the days when the winds or rain have swept the air clean?

    42. Anni,

The photos are very interesting. We do have a little smog here every now and then but I've seen the Toronto skyline when it was a yellowish green color. I wouldn't live in Toronto for anything in the world. There's not many places today where there is no smog.

I enjoyed your meme and will do my sometime this week.

Have a terrific weekend. I'm heading out in a few minutes to take the boys swimming.

      Blessings,
      Mary

    46. Yup … your Texas skies are MUCH nicer! Hmm … methinks Mary tagged me for this ‘needs’ meme (she left a comment but I’ve not been over to read the rulez yet) and it seems simple enough. Perhaps I’ll do it tomorrow or one day next week? If I do, I’ll letcha know ;--)

    51. Oh that first photo is my choice - so calm and peaceful. Wonderful colors. Great choice for The Hunt. I'll take God's clouds over clouds of pollution any day.

Anyways enjoy a Saturday visit from you Anni!

    52. Those are not nice brown clouds. It must be horrid to have breathe that in.

      ReplyDelete
    53. Absolutely right on your thoughts! we sure never get this kind of beautiful sunsets even where i am in a city as great as Boston! :-(

But air pollution in the city is a hard price we pay for progress ... if only there are more things that could be done about it...

      - o -
I enjoyed the first photo very much! :-)

    54. Love the sunset pic. It's the first one I've seen for this week's theme. The others are great shots, but smog, blech. (The substance, not your photos) I think you're also the only person so far to reference the "brown cloud." And yet it's a fact of life for so many of us, isn't it.

Thanks for your kind comments on my entry.

      ReplyDelete
    55. Thank goodness for clean air and clear skies! We could never live in a big city with all that smog and noise and traffic and ....

Thanks for adding me to the Bloggers Over 50! I didn't connect that you were the person running it. Yahoo!

Oh, and I did the Google 'needs' tag on my blog today. It's pretty fun, and an odd sort of way! Thanks for the idea.
