This week's prompt is: Wait *OR* Weight

Two things: I'll do "wait"

"Wait for the day to begin"--

Most all Sundays we try to go walking, sometimes it's around in the malls when it's really hot or raining heavily. Sometimes it's just around the neighborhood...while other times it's at some of the local parks. This past Sunday, Father's Day, we decided to go to the beach and wait for the sun to rise over the Gulf. So, I share photos of what we saw while we waited and after the wait while walking along the shore....

[all photos can be enlarged AND have mouseover captions]

And secondly, I'm in line to wait for the last three of the fifty specially minted state commemorative quarters* *. 2008 is the final year. The last three states to join the union were Arizona, Alaska, and Hawai'i. By the end of November I hope to have them all! [the Hawai'ian -the 50th state- quarter is rumored to have a release date in late October!]

* *all 50 quarters will have some weight to it too! I've been saving them for our grandsons as a gift when completed. A weighty project to send off, but what the heck, I only live one life.

  1. Those are beautiful pictures! My Mom collects the quarters too~she has four books: one for her and one for my two brothers and myself. My bf owns a store so he gets the quarters for her and he also is saving the new dollar coins!
Blast From the Past at my place.

    Happy HoTs!

  2. Hey sweet friend, I have really missed reading your blog everyday. You always make me smile, love you.

  3. Hi Anni, your sun rise pictures are so beautiful... I enlarged them to enjoy their beauty and appreciated them in a close up view... thanks for sharing with do you add captions over the pictures??? You are too cool and should be the queen of bloggers....or a teacher for us....
    Enjoy your day on Tuesday.
    Hugs, Baba

  4. Oh, Anni! Those are beautiful. We got some of the commemmorative coins when we were in Florida. I'm saving them for the boys and Brandon saved a few that he got in his change.

I love these ones and of course we won't have a chance to get them. I'm so glad that you have most of them and are going to give them to your grandsons. That is wonderful.

The photos of the sunrise over the Gulf are awesome. I enjoyed them so much and those pelicans are marvelous to watch.

Thanks for sharing this interesting and informative post.

    Blessings for a great day.

  5. Wow! Those photos are just stunning :)

My husband also loves to collect quarters as well :) We are on the lookout for those too!

  6. Those are definitely two things worth waiting for. The photos are gorgeous. My HoT is posted at Hope you can visit.

  7. I haven't waited for the sunrise in ages, what beautiful pictures!!

  8. Anonymous6/17/2008

Those are beautiful pictures! Even though it is hard to get up early enough to see the sunrise, it sure can be worth the extra effort.

My HoT is up at my place:

  9. Hi Anni, love the sunrise photos. We have lots of pelicans too, not where I live, as we're about 40 km inland, but on the coast there are heaps.

The fishermen get really annoyed with them because if they've caught any fish, they then have to keep an eye on the pelicans who'd pinch the fish given half a chance.

  10. hi
    I'm here H o T too
loved your Photos Annie and you take on Wait .Beautiful.

    My Little Drummer boys
    warm regards

  11. I could not wait to read your blog post, and now there is a weight off of my shouders, haha, I a silly.
Great images of the beach, love it.

  12. My Dad was a coin collector! Those look great! And I loved the pics :)

    Happy HOT Day!

    My entry is here

    I played too :)

  13. Wow, gorgeous shots! I love walking, but I rarely get that kind of scenery as a choice.

Wow, already to the last of the new quarters. Time flies!

Glad you decided to do the Heads or Tails, too :)

  14. Exhaling here as I reflect on those lovely photos. I don’t get to see the sun RISE over the ocean here in the West … so this was a wonderful treat. I do get to see it go down of course. I’ve been collecting the new quarters too after a friend gave me the album some years back, but my collection is no where near complete at this moment. My dad would have me looking through coins feverishly … but life’s too busy ;--)

Thanks for dropping by Small Reflections this morning … I’m off to my Photoshop class now. Hope you have a delightful day!
    Hugs and blessings,

  15. Oh my that would have been something for me to walk along the sea and see these beautiful landscapes !! These skies are breathtaking !
With that I almost forgot to look at your coins ! My aunt had sent me years ago 3 silver coins of the Bicentennial 1776-1976 and 2 Liberty coins also in Silver 1886 - 1986 that was a real nice gift !

  16. The photos are breathtaking! Thank you for sharing them all.

    I played along tooHere

    Happy HoT!

  17. What gorgeous photos! A sunrise worth waiting for. I love the state coins. How cool that you have them all - almost... Great post! Thank you for your kind words at Raven's Nest today.

Those pictures are just incredible! Gorgeous! It's soo coool to see the colors change as the sun rises! Very nice!

Thanks so much for sharing them! :)

  20. Hello dear Anni:-)

I'm finally here to catch up on your last few posts! Such gorgeous sunrise pictures...a perfect way to start a new day, on the beach watching the sunrise!! Unfortunately I've been missing the sunrises lately, been sleeping in too long! lol

Those commemorative quarters are really lovely and I think it's a great idea to be collecting them to give to your grandsons. Here in Canada we've also got many commemorative quarters and I've been trying to collect as many of them as I can....just not the minted ones, though! lol xoxo
