I LIVE for baseball & beer. And movies!!... ........PLAY BALL!!! GO 'STROS!!! GO ROCKIES!! GO D'BACKS!! [Fun Monday Quotes Below this entry!] <><><> There is something about the sound of the cracking of the bat when contact is made with the baseball!!!! Yesterday, around the country...a few opening season games were played. This is 'my time of year'! I love baseball. I've been following pro teams most all my life. Well, as far back as I can remember anyway. When I was a kid, it was my dad and his love for the game....his 'team' was the St. Louis Cardinals. A couple of times in the summer we'd travel to Missouri and watch a game at Busch Stadium. Then, growing up in Colorado....finally, Denver got a PRO team. The Colorado Rockies. Bud and I had season tickets for the first inaugural season. And it was a 'winning season' too! The one and only until last year. Alas, they didn't go any further...didn't get

NOTE: Cricket did my 175 Word Challenge!! Excellent job! I really enjoyed how you came about having your nickname, Cricket! Anyone can do the challenge if you'd like. Once it's complete, I will add your link on the participants' list found on my sidebar. [The challenge itself is linked] <><><> Robin , our hostess for Fun Monday this week, has challenged us with these words: " ...please share words that inspire and motivate you--brief or bloviatory, silly or serious, from great world leaders to last night's Comedy Central...from a Hallmark greeting card to your favorite book. Choose one, choose many.... " I really had to get my thinking cap on and try to remember those I like so much and ones I continue using in my lifestyle. Some are from when I grew up, from what I heard, one from what I vowed. But only a few, I promise: My dad: "Strive for independence. You and you alone will remain standing, with your decision[s] in life, r

Three words of the English language scares me.... Ones that normally shouldn't. But they do. It seems that a simple project of 30 minutes always turns into a day's work. Confusion oftentimes sets in. And it happened to me this week. Again. You know the saying of Yogi Bera..."Deja vu, all over again." A day this past week, was so reminiscent of our younger married days playing Santa Claus until the wee hours of the morning, trying so desperately to follow the instruction sheet step by step, not knowing just what is meant while looking at 'figure B'. I have had, and used for years, a very small desktop art easel when I take a notion to paint. Around here, I don't have a room in the house like I've had in the past. A room [other than the bathrooms and kitchen] without carpet. In Arizona I had an 'Arizona Room' done in Saltillo tile [Mexican tile]...in Colorado I had a Utility room that was also tiled. Here, nothing but carpeted rooms. And

About | Theme: "HIGH" | Roll Next week "GLASS" This week, it's high for us. I was thinking of photographing our cannabis plants but that would put me in a lot jeopardy! :::JOKING::: [I can see it now....the feds are reading my blog with Bush's idea of homeland security issues, phone tapping and blog spying, and they're making a mad dash to my front door right now as I type.] Anyway, I opted for high among the treetop! One morning this week, early, I was out in back and the sun was beginning to peek over the horizon. The light of the early morning was shining down on one of our many bougainvillea plants that is slowly coming out of its winter hibernation, and it was pretty to me. Then, when I was checking the photos on the digital memory card, I saw two doves perched high on the Pecan Tree out front that I didn't notice previously. This is good for the subject "high", I thought----------- [photos can be enlarged] ~end Photo Hunt [scr

Join Here A long, long time ago, when movies were released to the theater, you were handed a 'program' before you were seated. [Remember being ushered to a seat? And the hushed atmosphere of being there? So very unlike today's times with gabbing occupants and cell phones and unruly kids running up and down the theater's steps, disturbing everyone else that attends!] Sorry, I once again got carried away....My show and tell for Friday this week is one of my prized possessions. If you've been here a few times to my blog you know my passion for the book and movie, Gone With the Wind. I have a few collector's items decorating my walls, dresser, chest of drawers and headboard of small mementos of this very subject [among other favorite movies too, but the GWTW theme really dominates]. And today I share the original 1939 movie premiere program of the movie. I like to 'dream' that it's possibly from the very day of the Atlanta Georgia opening....hey,

edition #52 [photo courtesy of Foto Search ] This I read on my daughter's Myspace the other day...of course it brought tears to my eyes. Because it reminded me of my grandson with Down's. He so much could be "Kevin". I'm sharing the first thirteen lines of this poignant writing. It IS continued to the full extent if you wish to continue reading....It's long, so be prepared to stay a while longer----------- 1] I envy Kevin. 2] My brother Kevin thinks God lives under his bed. 3] At least that's what I heard him say one night. 4] He was praying out loud in his dark bedroom, and I stopped to listen, "Are you there, God?" he said. 5] "Where are you? 6] Oh, I see. under the bed..." 7] I giggled softly and tiptoed off to my own room. 8] Kevin's unique perspectives are often a source of amusement. 9] But that night something else lingered long after the humor. 10] I realized for the first time the very different world Kevin lives in. 1

~...end Wordless [scroll down below news flash item to comment] NOTE: ON MY COMMENT THE CRANBERRIES IN THE recipe should read 1/2 CUP !!! <><><> News Flash!!!! According to the news article, this is just in: Alcohol, drugs, food, sex, and even shopping are all candidates for medical treatment and are recognized as genuine mental disorders, so what about the Internet? Internet addiction -defined as "excessive gaming, sexual pre-occupations, and email/text messaging" - is becoming so common that at least one psychiatrist says it merits inclusion in psychiatry's official handbook of mental illness, the "Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders............." read more Oh, this is probably quite a serious issue with a lot of people, world wide. But, I can't help thinking...."Picture this": Years down the line, there'll be an internetaholic annonymous! IA for short. "Hi, my name in Hootin' Anni, and I'

Join Here I read a notice on Skittle's Place that she is making up a new site with only the Heads or Tails Theme. I couldn't get into her blog over the weekend, I kept getting an error note that the blog no longer exists. I'm wondering......hmmmmmmmmmm. But this time last week, I had already copied the category that she had on her 'old' blog....and it stated: March 25: HEADS - Tip *OR* TAILS - Anything that rhymes with Tip But now, on Monday her new blog tells us the category is "Surprise". Well, the surprise in this case is I'm going with tip which would rhyme with "trip"...and this new blog of hers has been a trip. rofl. But seriously people, I am now grabbing at straws here 'cause in slang 'trip' is not necessarily going somewhere, other than 'down'...I have fallen and I can't get up!!!. LOL [oh give me a break...I've done a blooper, blunder, boner, bull, bungle, fall, false move, false step, faux pas, fl

Normally, about this time o' day, I am doing my exercise routine. And NORMALLY you can find me unclad so I can jump on the scales afterward to weigh in. Without hubby anywhere around to watch. BUT our hostess has asked me kindly [under great duress from me, I might add, I'm inclined to oblige her] to keep my clothes on just for the Fun Monday'ers. I guess so I won't scare them away? So..... this is the best I can do today Swampy!!! I'm being rather good 'bout this, tho it really isn't the 'norm' at my place. And as I exercise, hubby is too close for comfort. 'Cause I'm doing my routine right now as I think of 26 ways, then jotting them down as I labor, to describe the subject. I'm trying desperately to ignore the fact that he's very close.... Hootin Anni: "Now hold on.........you can take that hot iron, and those hair trimmers away!!" "This body is made of wrinkle free material, and I've worked long and

I have been working and working, for weeks, trying to figure out how to incorporate the comments here on blogger similar to the wordpress comments...where the comment window is on the blog post itself without opening in a new window as blogger does all the time! I've tested here, tested there, taken out coding, added coding so many times I confused myself and can't remember just what coding I dropped and how I added certain css/html to all this...I've totally become puzzled as to where everything was added and what was subtracted over the weeks in my test runs.... until today of all days...I think I got it working!!! IF [and that's a big "if"] I can check out my template css and remember what I took out and what I added, I will share. But don't hold your breath...it's weeks in the making and I won't guarantee I can remember everything. That was a headache and oh so many frustrations...spelled W-O-R-K!!! <><><> So far, in our f
