[also on this blog entry, I've shared my "Friday Fixin's "weekly hint, and my "Phriday Phavorite Photo Phun"] - - - - This is my antique commode and antique wash stand. The bars to the left and right of the commode are towel holders. There is a shelf on the underside. And above the commode is a mirrored unit with candle holders on each side for lighting in the olden days. I got this at an estate sale auction. I recall the whole unit was less than $10 cost to me. [this was long before antiques came into 'vogue', and becoming costly purchases.] When I went to pick it up after bidding on it, and load it in the truck, I noticed inside the pitcher was an unwrapped bar of soap. After I got home with my 'find', I fell in love with the soap, actually, 'cause I had never seen anything like it. Shaped like a cameo. It's darkened with age, and the fragrance has long gone. But I vowed never to use it. And *knock wood* it's not bee

Guess what? The NEW one died on me. I was popping some popcorn and it just stopped working. Well, I tested the socket again, and it works...I tested it with my hand mixer. But, to be on the safe side, I'm having an electrician come in and check the wiring. For peace of mind. But I finally DID get my popcorn to snack on. LOL 'Cause I took the one I just bought back, got a refund and went back to the ovens and go

Join Here & ~Heads or Tails February 26: HEADS - Wonder *OR* TAILS - Wander ~WONDER~ I WONDER why so many of us American citizens feel like they're getting 'the shaft' by our leaders. What I mean is, during campaign speeches and the promises given to us, it's just that. Promises given . Now some may think that those promises are not followed through once the person gets into office. And I'm meaning ANY government official taking seat. Those promises are more than likely followed through from the 'campaigner'. But!!! I WONDER if we all think beyond that promise. I WONDER if we citizens realize that those promises given to us during the speeches are taken to the 'next level' once the person is in the official office? I WONDER if they realize that the promises are heard by OTHERS in other seats? For instance, the campaigning right now of Hillary's "National Health Issue"...do others realize this sounds good in talk, but ev

For Fun Monday this week, Mariposa has challenged us with TWO topics. One is our blog name. The Who, What, Where's and Why our blog is named such as it is. And the second section of the week's challenge is our 'most common dish'. [I'm assuming by dish, you're not talking Johnny Depp our mates? No? Ohhhhhhhhh, you mean food? Okay. Will do. At the last of my Fun Monday. But, really, it's not as appealing. Trust me.] Okay, to get started. My blog's name. To fill you in on little bit of history. I HAVE been blogging for about four years now. My first blog was by a pseudonym of which it's not important today. And the 'old' blog of mine, still in existence but not active, was actually based on my childhood and early adulthood memories - a blast from the past, with the likes of Pez candy dispensers, hula hoops, cards pinned on my bike's spokes, raising two goofy infants filled with humor; things like that. Boring!!! The previous

About | Theme: WOODEN | Roll Next week "Party" I'm later than usual this week with my Photo Hunt photo. Hubby and I have visitors from Colorado, and we were up late last night talking the night away. So, I'm sure they'll all wanna sleep in this morning. Today, as you notice in the photo I just grabbed a couple things at random as not to disturb anyone and wake anyone here. I grabbed the newspaper from yesterday [which I've not had time to read yet], and my hubby's grandfather's wooden plane. This, for the younger generation that may not know what it is, is an implement you use to shave wood off to smooth the roughness, or level a piece of wood that you may be using at the time [on the reverse side of the plane is a steel blade for 'shaving']. Ancient!!! LOL And of course the newspaper which is a wooden by-product. Not to mention the wooden table!! [no, it's NOT an air plane !! It's a TOOL ] Happy Hunting everyone. The reason

More holiday crafts... I bought some artificial fern fronds and a couple of miniature resin leprechauns along with white carnations and a green foil spray--a foam "Saint Patrick's Day" banner plus a grapevine wreath.... ....designed it and came up with this finished project: Then, since Easter is in March this year also, I wanted to try my hand at creating a 'broken egg'. Of course, the use of imagination really comes in handy. I went to the Dollar Zone here in town and bought: 2 identical plastic mixing bowls with a scalloped edge [2 @ $1.00] 3 boxed yellow chicks [$1.00] 1 carton of sparkle dusted eggs [6 in a pkg. - #1.00] 4 pink spring like flower stems [4 @ $1.00] 1 package of curling ribbon in pastel colors [$1.00] Green Easter Grass [$.50] Total cost: $5.50 [plus tax] Cuteness? Priceless ::snort:: I guess it looks like an egg. ::shrug:: It didn't turn out like I had envisioned. But, it's something for Easter. I wanted to try something a b
