* *We're getting ready to spend the holiday with our son; traveling with him. We'll be back sometime early Tuesday I hope! I'll try and post some comments when we stop for the day [our son has a laptop that he doesn't leave home without], if I can't --to all USA bloggers, please have a safe holiday and enjoy. And to Melli...in case I'm not back home, ...celebrate the big 5 0 in style!!! ...join us over at Kelli's "There is no place like home"! ! <><><> I'd like to show you this light fixture, and tell you it's 'history' with our family. Being married to a naval guy, who's interests are still with ships, water, and exotic seaports of the world, our home decor is a majority of anything seaworthy. This light, that hangs over our mess tent dining table, is something that we've had in our home for years! The two times we've relocated since hubby's and my retirement, the house-selling contract has s

Did you hear that the Irish S.A.S. raided Harrods the other day ? They heard that Bed Linen was on the 3rd floor. <><><> PS---My apologies to all the Irish that can't take a joke. [PSS --I'm Irish!] <><><> Bonus Question: Is Hell exothermic (gives off heat) or endothermic (absorbs heat)? Most of the students wrote proofs of their beliefs using Boyle's Law (gas cools when it expands and heats when it is compressed) or some variant. One student, however, wrote the following: First, we need to know how the mass of Hell is changing in time. So we need to know the rate at which souls are moving into Hell and the rate at which they are leaving. I think that we can safely assume that once a soul gets to Hell, it will not leave. Therefore, no souls are leaving. As for how many souls are entering Hell, let's look at the different religions that exist in the world today. Most of these religions state that if you are not a member

THIRTEEN ANAGRAMS[thursday 13] FOR HOOTIN' ANNI'S BLOG BELOW MY TRIBUTE TO PRINCESS DIANA H ow I so vividly remember the world's loss of a great woman. After a while, I thought she was demoralized, dejected by the British Empire, and still today I feel the same. Tho, the royals tried to make amends to the distrust, disgust, and displeasures of their treatment in her life and in her death...it was all too little too late for me, and I'm not even a Englishman! From the very beginning I watched her grow and become of woman of stature, even before the fairytale wedding that was televised to the world. [During the wedding tho, at one time, I remember in an interview long after she was wed to Prince Charles, she noted about her wedding pomp and circumstance that it was comical that during the procession, there was a commercial of some such menial product! --that showed spunk and humor --I like spunk, and I like humor]. I watched it along with the many millions of viewer

~ WORDLESS WEDNESDAY <><><> I read this meme at Melli's yesterday, and thought I'd do it for fun... Accent - Most of the time, midwestern. But I've picked up a few WORDS that I try to give accent to that is typically southern. Y'all is my favorite. I Don't Drink- Warmed FRESH [right from the cow] milk. *disgusting---nasty* But, I do like hot chocolate made from HOMOGENIZED milk....weird, huh? I'm not sure, but if you looked up hot milk on the 'net, there'd perhaps be a whole section about fresh warmed cow's milk under a Google search for things that are nasty.[?] Chore I hate - Folding laundry. It can sit in the basket for days before I finally convince myself it's time....either that, or it's time to do more laundry and I need the basket. Pets - Two cats. Black MH tabby...named Tahoe [The "ho" for short] and a white persian named Winston [winnie for short] The two even have their own blog [which has bee

~10 on Tuesday below Early one morning this summer, being outdoors in the yet still, quiet, darkness, I spied a lightning bug flitting around near the grass blade tops and it brought back memories. Memories of the days when I was young and would go out in the darkness of the hot summer nights and catch them, and put them in a glass jar with holes punched in the metal lid that my dad did for me with a hammer and nail! And oh how they glowed.... And of course, I have been making special efforts to go outdoors in the wee early hours of the day to see if I could see any more!! I did, and a poem was inspired--- © 2007 Hootin' Anni SHINE FOR ME * I n the darkness of the night He's searching here and searching there, Off in the distance, under the tree; Atop a fern, or near the ground, He hopes to see a flare. He's waiting and hoping; Expecting a response perhaps in the bush. Soon, he espies it, A bright yellow beam..... The glow from his lady friend's tush ! Lightning Bug

She asks: I’d like to know how you started blogging. Did you keep a diary under lock and key safely hidden as a child? Do you still? Do you sha

*singing*---and off key of course: "Heaven, I'm in heaven...." T oday after our outing of walking and a small breakfast for Sunday 'brunch', we had to go to the store. H.E.B. Super Center has a plant shop so we went there instead of our neighborhood H.E.B.'s that we normally frequent. I wanted to get a couple of potted ferns for our patio. Soon, it'll be cool enough for them to thrive and I love the greenery around my little frog and stone items. But---- Thing is, they had a special on cantaloupe. One of my favorite summer-time treats. I remember in Colorado how we used to make a special trip down to the Arkansas Valley to load up the trunk with the most sweet, the most juicy, the most delectable melons this side of heaven! How oftentimes I remember in Arizona and now here in Texas I'd wish for them. And I miss the Western Slope peaches and Bing Cherries and Jonathan apples found only in Colorado. Well, they're found elsewhere, but they j

I just can't NOT comment on this! H ow cruel and inhumane can humans be? The past week, I've listened to the national news, and the covered story about Michael "V's" [name left out] confession of mistreating and the actual killing of dogs [with dog fights that are illegal in the first place!!]. So far, he's only been suspended from the NFL [national football league] of which he is a 'star' quarterback for the Falcons. It just eats away on me and my stamina --I find myself tripping in disbelief that any one can be cruel to animals --animals of ANY kind, it's just so gut wrenching for me to realize that this all goes on behind our backs and we're not more knowledgeable to the facts. And, so far, the only action against Mr. V is suspension with the league!?!! Is that because of the money he has and will bring in to the football franchise? I'm sure he'll be reinstated once he finishes serving his light sentence because of his breaki

[SATURDAY PHOTO HUNT BELOW -in next post] Junie Rose made me a nameplate from the meme that is going around. I really like it, and have placed it on my sidebar! Thank you so much Junie!! And with the meme, I am supposed to surprise some with the same nameplates. The rules are: Write 8 of your blog friends' names in a unique way and post them. You must write the blogger's name that tagged you, then add 7 others. Be creative. Well, I really don't have time enough to make eight of them, so only these will have to do: This one is special! It's for a friend of mine's cats! I tried to use cats to form their 'name'!! She calls them her boyz, and they have their own blog -- Just the Cats ! And all the antics, and wonderful Tuesday Tummies, and photos that they share with us is quite a feast. A fancy feast....sorry, boyz. But I couldn't resist. Is this one of your favorite treat? Or does P J buy you the store brands? [just kidding] Also, you can wa

About | Theme: HAPPY | Roll Next week: - Dirty I've always been a happy person. Rarely do I feel down and out. I really don't know any reasoning behind it, but happy I am most of the time. Why waste my good energy in crying and feeling blue or sorry for myself? Happiness is good. My half century aged face has the wrinkles of 'crows feet' from smiling instead of wrinkles at the forehead from frowning!! I'm happiest when I'm with family of course, but if someone would come up to me and ask me 'what' makes you happy, I'd say that in the top 5, it'd be movies!!! I love movies, and this was from the movie set of " A Stranger To Love " starring Pam Dawber and Beau Bridges. It was filmed just outside Tucson Arizona at a posh ranch. My co-star's name is David. [that's all I learned--I never learned his last name] But, he played my 'husband' at the dining room scene where Ms. Dawber is owner and restaurateur. This ph

FRIDAY FEAST - SHOW N TELL BELOW THIS W ith all the rains and the heat this summer, the mosquito population is running amok! In our backyard haven, there are daily, literally, hundreds of dragon flies! And, of course, since dragon flies consume mosquitoes, I'm all in favor of the little, colorful winged creatures, and welcome them with open arms!! But each time I see them, especially the blue ones, with the nearly iridescent wings and body, I think of a movie. One we watched a lot when our kids were little! It's still a favorite of mine, but somewhere along the line, one of our kids grabbed the vhs tape we had! Oh that's okay...no complaining from me... Anyway, the dragon flies remind me of the movie, The Rescuers! It was a cartoon movie feature. About Bernard and Bianca. [voices of Bob Newhart as Bernard and Eva Gabor as Bianca]. You see, there is this little girl, Penny, that Bernard and Bianca rescue from the evil grasps of the wicked Medusa. Oh, didn'

Once again, yesterday was a hot, humid, sticky kinda day. And naturally it was too hot to be outside walking. After lunch I went antiquing and 2nd-hand shop walking! I like to walk through all the different stores. In this area, all the antique shops are in a 'connected' strip in town, where you can walk from one small shop into the other without going outside in the 'elements'!! It's always a pleasurable few hours spent. I so especially enjoy seeing all the same things my mom had in her household...and today they're called antiques!! Boy, you know just how old that makes me feel? *laughing* Anway, back in the '50s, my days of youth, mom had a special set of service for the kitchen. All ceramic pieces. As I've said before, my mother's favorite color was pink. If she'd had her way, I really do believe her kitchen walls would have been pink, but my dad put the hipper-dipper to that notion...in a hurry!! Sorry, got off track there a bit
