Ten on Tuesday ~ We're to list ten countries we'd like to visit. 1) Definitely England!! I love the history and the royal family backgrounds and even the story behind the White Chapel era, the era of Jack the Ripper. I would love to play detective, I've read a lot of writings on him, the subject, and I think it'd be interesting to see with my own eyes and hear what has to be said of the man in today's time. Compelling past of this country has always given me extreme interest. [P S --Do I really think that "Jack" was Prince Albert? Not sure, but some think] 2) Ireland!! Always ancestral interest in this country, for me. 3) Denmark!! There are people here I know and would love to know better. Two wonderful ladies; online friends that I've had the privilege to converse with by snail mail AND emails, groups and message boards for nearly 10 years. They're both wonderful, delightful women who have taught me a lot about their culture and 't

W eren't we just talking about insurance policies? Seems talk of this nature always comes up during hurricane season. And we received a phone call from our home owners insurance stating that at the expiration date of our year's policy, they will be giving us coastal areas, each county from Galveston and Houston to Brownsville, Texas, the same 'state standard' insurance for windstorms. I've heard horror stories of people still not having a home, all because of insurance companies acting fraudulently. After clarifying what the State of Texas is now allowing and chosing how to handle claims for wind damage and flooding from tropical storms, I understood a bit more. I still can't help but having the gut feeling of somewhere we're being cheated, and that the state and all the insurance companies along the coast [14 counties included] are in cahoots! But, after hanging up, I was thinking of insurance. Life insurance, Homeowners AND auto insurance. Years ago

Call me dumb...call me naive...call me ignorant...call me stupid....call me silly....call me curious but, please, call me!! [hehehehehe, I couldn't resist that last part] Seriously, I heard some kids at the mall the other day, out in the general seating area playing peas porridge hot, peas porridge cold! I was speechless. I honestly didn't think that kids even knew this little ditty anymore. I thought this went out with our childhood. Apparently, for some of us, our remembrance of it all is still being carried down from one generation to the next!! Y et, as it's running through my mind, it lingers on and on, even as I'm driving home. But wait, I know the poem by heart....but I don't know exactly WHAT peas porridge is!!! And naturally, with the Internet at my fingertips, I rush in and pull up a Google link and begin the learning process. I do recall at one time when our daughter read the Laura Ingles Little House series that at one time she mentioned peas p

---After the rains came down!--- A fter another storm, I always go out to the back yard and check to see how much of the water is standing in the low lying areas. The poor farmers in the outskirts of the city are having a rough go trying to get their crops harvested because of the saturated land. But on the good side of this all, the crops this year are very abundant [except for the cotton, I hear that most of the bolls that lie under the canopy of the over-grown plant are rotting in the dampness]. At least let's hope so --if they can just get them cut down before they rot. I love the smell of rain, and the fresh cooler air around me. And with my little trek, I snapped some photos -- Ummmmm, ya it rained! Rained hard for a while. And after the rain I like to go check for damage...just some minor flooding around the foundation this time. And one of my favorite corners in the backyard, my raccoon family with yellow and orange blossoms. The yellow trumpet flower with water drop

M elli, Melli, Melli?!!!! I think this is a sign for the both of us! I truly do!! You see, I agree with your words left in the comment section below this posting, especially for the words about "you can read anything into a lot of stuff" ---for instance this 'revelation' and other envisions in rocks or on walls, etc. And I just could not, not share this...it's a screenshot from when I was in my own comment section to leave you a 'reply' comment ---as I was scrolling down to type the security code, look what was there---I tellya, it's a sign from above!! We are given ' the word ' [like I named the graphic] Unscramble the letters of the code...does it spell godly, or doesn't it? [click to enlarge]

I ' ve been trying for days to get into any of the sites for the proclaimed "discovery" of the infamous " Da Vinci Code". A computer geek is claiming he's 'solved the mystery'. But what mystery[?] is my question about this. Thing is, since the world wide popularity of Brown's best selling novel and the making of the movie, the Da Vinci Code is something of a mystery in itself. IS the mystery what it implies, and what the church is denying? It all eventually boils down to the somewhat dubious answers and questions - the Holy Grail. And....just what i s the Holy Grail? Since reading the book myself, and loving only the 'mystery' and intrigue of such a character as Da Vinci , along with seeing the movie, and buying the DVD...it still continues to make me want to read more, and research more. More so, I keep having the one thought in the back of my mind....why now? Was I so naive beforehand to have never paid attention...or did

About | Theme: CREATIVE | Roll <:><:><:> If you choke a smurf, what color does it turn? <:><:><:> Both hubby and I love to have and use a bit of creativity at times. When I hear the word 'creative' my first thought is crafts. Tho, there are many ways to interpret creative!! I look forward to everyone's photos this week!! It should be quite diverse in ideas/selections. We both [hubby and myself] love to get our hands into making things from the ideas that float into our head. LOL ---Now really, hubby may not agree with this for some certainty - Because the ideas are ususally something I'VE come up with, and he does the work!! Ya, that's what he would say for sure, for sure. And with today's theme, I thought I would be a bit creative [creative is what creative does] in the display. These items we've made to make our house a home.... Top Row[1024+ resolution]: left to right ---Hand carved by my husband, and pai

Amy says : "I have always enjoyed your reading your blog but this is by far the best post you have done". L ately, tho I enjoy reading blogs in my daily visits, I have begun to think that there is a huge amount of blogs I have visited, that shows me one's own sorry attitude for the majority, and not enough posting of what is good about their life. I realize that blogs are like diaries, and each to their own style. And I'm not in any way condeming those blogs --people need them --for me, it's not going to be my style. Beginning now, I'm trying to steer clear of those who beg for sympathy of how rotten their life is. Yet, some are astoundingly beautiful blogs with the words of family, love and caring - the all important things in life instead of being torn apart by anger or woes. But it's those other blogs that show the selfishness of "I ache and I feel rotten, and I can't sleep, or my child has given everyone troubles"...etc. etc. etc.

I loved to jump rope, I loved to play hopscotch, I had a Barbie Doll with Ken...and tho not a toy, I remember my first bike of my own. Oh and my marble collection! I loved to 'win' the prettiest. They were always the ones I aim for in the game. Remember jacks? I used to be pretty good at that too. And with my hopscotch skills I always saved and stored my smoothest, flatest playing piece!! It never slid or missed a square.

[graphic made my Hootin' Anni] ~SOUNDS OF SILENCE~ When my world is very quiet and I sit or stand alone, what things can I hear that make me feel good? 1) Cats snoring and/or a soft loveable meow, I have to smile to myself. 2) Distant thunder rumbling, I just enjoy the sound, it's realxing. 3) A neighbor's child outdoor playing and giggling, all is safe in their world. 4) Quiet hum of soft, rhythmic, easy listening, instrumental music. 5) My sister's voice on a quiet afternoon call. 6) Alone with myself on the beach with waves lapping over my bare feet. 7) A fog horn in the distance, I feel the loneliness of it all, but still feel good inside that it is serving a purpose for safety. 8) Mourning doves in the still, darkness of early morning. 9) Sea gulls laughing from high in the sky. 10) The sound of a billiard ball dropping in the pocket, when I practice my shots. 11) The tinkle of ice cubes sloshing in a glass. 12) The constant hum of my hard drive...it has kept me co

O nce again, I've been tagged [for me, I'm blogging it]. I received this in an email, from a MySpace friend of my daughter's, which [by co-inkydink] she also received in an email from another who blogs, and so on and so forth!! You/I can only use one word to answer the question. That, in itself 'sounds' easy, but if you try to answer with just one word, it's most difficult. Difficult to find just the 'right' word. Anyway, in order to not send it through emails and get spammed by many, I decided to post it here instead. One Word Meme 1. Where is your cell phone? Hutch 2. Relationship? Longstanding 3. Your hair? Short 4. Work? Huh? 5. Your sister? Best! 6. Your favorite thing? Books 7. Your dream last night? Buggy!! 8. Your favorite drink? COLD 9. Your dream car? Testerosa 10. The room you’re in? Computer 11. Your shoes? Collection!! 12. Your fears? Lots! 13. What do

M y goodness, my goodness!! Today I have been taking some of my time to visit friends I've made over the year or two I've been blogging [I blogged before under a different name, and decided to use my 'given' name instead of an alias]. And I realized it's been way too long in my visit with "Pea" at her most wonderful, down home blog. I found Pea a long time ago now, and fell in love with her earthy and friendly blog and her style of writing and friendliness to all of blogworld!! She has class. But today, while visiting and enjoying her flowers and others, I noticed she'd been nominated and selected for a couple awards! I was just about to skim down to congratulate her....and as I skimmed....I noticed my name! She had nominated and selected me for the Creative Award. With all my heart, I cherish her thoughts and consideration. And I feel quite happy that I know someone out there enjoys my blog too!! Thanks dear C!! I understand that I'm to n

About | Theme: TINY | Roll <><><> As always TNChick brings us a challenge every week, and this is no exception! Tiny? And ol' Anni, always having her mind in the gutter, well -I couldn't expose my pecho diminuto , that would be close to porn if y'all were compelled to use a magnifying glass. But, if you catch my drift, hubby has always told me that DYNAMITE comes in tiny packages. So, another weekend and I'm trying to find something 'tiny' that can be an appropriate photo! And don't even think about me asking hubby to drop.........well, never mind!!! Picture it....Friday afternoon, Hootin' Anni is walking the floor searching for 'tiny'. Nothing. Nada. Zilch. Then, sauntering outdoors, perhaps I can locate something tiny besides an ant that I can focus in on....a small flower bud or something.... I almost...I said ALMOST walked into this------ [photos can be enlarged] It's still damp from the morning dew.... the ti

Appetizer On a scale of 1 to 10 (with 10 being highest) how much do enjoy watching sports on television? Okay, this is kind of a 'trick' question for me. There are sports I LOVE to watch, and for those it'd most definitely be a '10'! But the sports I don't watch would be a ZERO!! I love baseball and a particular team of American football [Denver Broncos]. I'll also watch a 'hometown' basketball [UofA, CSU,] and [Texas Longhorns football]. And olympic figure skating. But out of the sports listed, I watch baseball games the most!! Love baseball, I do. I will skip channels on the TV if golf, fishing, skiing, hockey, car racing, boxing, is aired! Soup If you could completely memorize any one work of fiction, which one would you pick? It'd more than likely be poetry by Robert Frost. As I love his work. Stopping by the Woods.... is one I can recite quite well, but do forget lines at the moment. There is one particular line I quote oftentimes

~Thirteen Things I like about Summer~ 1) The crack of the bat, and I know it's a home run for the local team! Be it Pro baseball, or Minor League. 2) Ice cold watermelon with just a touch of salt! 3) Cool summer breezes that refresh me after a hot, sultry, southern day. 4) Summer blockbuster movies. 5) Lounging on the shaded patio with a decaf iced tea and a good thick novel. 6) Going to the beach in the early morning hours to just sit on my portable chair, and watch the sunrise. Hubby at my side with his coffee urn, and my orange juice in the ice cooler. 7) Wading in the warm, salty gulf waters near the shoreline. 8) The smell of a summer rain, touching the sizzling hot earth. 8) Being outdoors late at night or around 2 a.m. and just looking at the stars!! Meteor showers are awesome!! 9) The distant sounds of frogs after a storm. 10) The invention of OFF© repellent body spray. 11) Outdoor concerts. 12) Street fairs. 13) Barbecues. Steaks, baked beans, potato salad, tossed sala

H ubby and I went to Victoria, Texas yesterday afternoon. Our son called from his car, while on the way from Houston, asking if we'd like to meet him for a dinner at Texas Roadhouse Steakhouse in Victoria after he looked at some investment property for his client. He invited us to meet with him prior to his online meeting with his client/and company he works for, at Starbucks if we could get there around the same time he did. I figured he'd be late for dinner after we met late at the coffee shop. Our son took the photo and sent it in the email, and asked our opinions [he does that a lot, so he can get an unbiased opinion I guess]...and he happened to get our car in there too. I didn't have time to cut and resize the photo. I called ahead and made a reservation to stay overnight at the Fairfield. I know, I know....it's only a little over an hour's drive from Corpus, but neither hubby or I drive well after dark. We both have night vision problems. It's safe

My Wordless Wednesday photo for this week is directly below this meme. D ear Matty, over at Running on Empty , challenged us to come up with ---- *Rule: We have to post these rules before we give you the facts. *Rule: Players start with eight random facts/ habits about themselves. *Rule: People who are tagged need to write their own blog about their eight things and post these rules. At the end of your blog post, you need to choose eight people to get tagged and list their names. *Rule: Don't forget to leave them a comment telling them they're tagged and to read your blog. Okay, pucker up everyone! Here are my 8 oddities , errrrrrrr, um what was it now? Oh ya, 8 random facts/ habits!!! The first one is a doozie, it'll have your mouth watering, I just know it will! 1) I love pickle juice! But only dill pickle juice. Ya, no....I know, it's true tho. When I have a jar of dill pickles go empty of the yummy fermented cucumbers, I save the juice. Yep! I put i

I really haven't been too ambitious this last week. I'm still having a bit of a problem with my new medications for SVT. And I've had several more tests done this past week, and today I go in for a 'fitting' of a 24 hour holter monitor. What with the terrible side effects lately and having a conference with my cardiologist, I've opted to see a specialist at the beginning of next month. Time will tell. [illustration...the wires are actually UNDER clothing - for those who don't know what it does ---it's fitted with a small disklike fixture that is set for a certain amount of time for recording...and what it records is your heart beat/heart rhythms. Like an EKG] <> But in the meantime, while hubby was watching some gory movie on Sci Fi station yesterday, I took a walk around the backyard. It's been too hot and humid to do much outdoors, and more storms predicted this week, so I settled for checking the flower 'crops'. With the compu
