My list for Thursday 13 ~What I miss about childhood--- 1) The innocence 2) Hopscotch --oh how I loved this game! 3) Being spoiled by my dad! 4) Having water fights while doing dishes - fun, fun, FUN! I used to get a soaking, but ohhhh, it was worth it 'cause I got my big brother in trouble all the time!! [You see, he was supposed to 'know better'] 5) Playing house --yep, I actually had dolls & of course I was the mommie!! Even back then, my 'kids' misbehaved for me *snorts*!! 6) Family vacations with parents! 7) The last school bell of summer! 8) Remember jacks? I was good at this too.... 9) Shopping for new clothes - y'all know how fast a kid can grow. This was my staging in life for the love of a new pair of shoes, etc!! 10) Sharing a room with my big sister --[and the secrets we still remember and share even today]. <><><> F inally! The fourth of four frames is completed for the newly painted walls in our living room. The other

B oredom had put a strangle-hold on me! Yuk, with housework....been doing laundry and trying to clean up what has been laying around since the holiday weekend. I am making a crock pot of chicken stew --actually stewing the chicken right now, and I will add the veggies when it's closer to dinner time. Hubby is reading the newspaper and will finish my 4th and last frame for my art work that I've been hanging on the living room walls. [that project kinda got waylaid for a while during my 3 days in and out of the hospital. But, when he has it finished, I will post my final framed drawing here] I've swept the standing water from the storms off the patio [there are two low spots, and if I don't sweep it off, it gets mossy looking and stains the cement]. The kitties have been brushed and I've cleaned the hair mess up. LOL ---can you tell, I'm bored? So------ I'll show you mine if you show me yours!!! Computer wallpaper that is!!

S ometimes I think I should carry my digital camera around my neck like a charm! Yesterday, sitting outdoors and soaking up the sun, I heard the most beautiful song. It was a bird of course, it was perched up on the electrical wires that are strung between the utility poles near our backyard. I believe it was a cedar waxwing . Wowzers, was it ever pretty! And like I said, the song it was singing for me was so sweet and beautiful! Well, of course, no camera!---I quietly, but rushed, went into the house to grab the camera for a photo moment!---Went back outside, and Bud said..."You're too late. You need to have the camera at ready all the time. It just flew off toward the next street." All to my dismay! Maybe someday. Maybe!! So, now that the camera was fired up and ready, I walked around and snapped some pictures. Actually, in hopes of it returning to our yard to give me a 'feathered show of beauty' again. But it was no go for the waxwing. After the dow

We come home from our Sunday brunch yesterday, and unlocked the door---stepped in the kitchen, only to find a couple of bad cats. Both know [at least when we're home] that being up on the kitchen counter is an absolute 'no-no'! But did it phase them one bit that we caught 'em in the act of being typical?! Nah! I don't think so. And they remained. I hung the keys on the key holder, set down my driving glasses, and emptied my pockets on the counter....did they move? Well, maybe an eye-opening wink or two! Perhaps a stretch and a yawn. But, did they jump down, even with my reprimanding them that they're not to be up where food is prepared? Again, not one bit. I even had the audacity to think they'd jump down as soon as I went into the computer room to grab the camera, load it, and turn it on. Usually, when they hear the whine of the digital lens motor, they scurry away---nope, not on your life! Not this time!! *THEIR NEW THEME SONG* [a parody of

I 've been tagged, again! Bubba's Sis caught me this time!! Here goes--- What were you doing 10 years ago? Let's see, if my math is correct, that's 1997? Right? Heck, to be honest, if I remember what I was doing a month ago, I'd be doing good! Now you expect me to remember ten years? We were living in Arizona....and it'd be May! ---probably sitting in front of the air conditioner, and computer. Hot, hot, HOT! I don't care what they say about it being a 'dry heat' in the desert---when May comes around, the humidity is beginning to build up for the monsoon season, and when it's 100% humidity and 120 degrees---it isn't pretty--I get very cranky! We did go to Disneyland about then, but I don't think it was in May. That was a fun trip. I won all expenses paid, plus air travel. What were you doing 1 year ago? Again, if I could only have such a sharp memory. 2006? Probably stocking the pantry and preparing for hurricane season at th

I n the movie, Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid [circa, 1969], the two are hired on to protect the Bolivian bankroll being transported from town. Well, this was my first thought when I read that this week's theme is colorful. While they botch the whole trip going 'down the mountain'; the character, Percy Garris [played by Strother Martin ] has the loot on his mule in saddle bags...they're on their way home, and Percy sings Sweet Betsy from Pike, talks about the countryside, and just before being shot and killed by the Mexican bankroll robbers, he's quoted: " That's what happens when you live 10 years alone in Bolivia: you get c o l o r f u l ... " <><><> THIS WEEK'S THEME: colorful This is a four part collage of some garden fairy figurines/statues that I've been repainting and refinishing these past few weeks. They've been sun-bleached to a monochromatic gray [as you can see the drab coloration of them here ]. A

FRIDAY FEAST BELOW THIS POSTING [altho, I must admit, Johnny is quite a feast for the eyes] W e're getting ready to go to the first early showing of the opening day of Pirates of the Caribbean - World's End ! I hear rumors of J. D. ready and willing to make a 4th installment of POTC!-----I am not sure just how they can make a 4th. But, I'll just have to wait and see what the 3rd segment is like first! Time will tell. Hope it's a good one. It's been a long time since a 'good movie' has been released. And I hear all kinds of mixed reviews on Shrek the Third . Maybe we'll go see it, maybe not. Perhaps we'll just wait to get it on DVD when it's released. Who knows. I'll post my opinion of the new Pirates movie here, later this afternoon! Happy weekend all!! And be safe if you're gonna be out there driving the highways [for USA Memorial Day weekend!!] <><><> 3:05 PM---We were right in the front row! Of the main thea

Appetizer Name a sound you like to hear. The Gulf's surf just off the beach, along with sea gulls laughing....and in the distance, a fog horn! It can be a sad sound, but it's just so calming to me! There's nothing like it. Soup What is your favorite kind of cheese? I love cheese, period!! Probably my favorite would be colby or a real sharp yellow cheddar! [not to forget, cottage cheese....love that stuff. Plain!!] Salad Do you sleep late on Saturday mornings? Why or why not? My sleep habits have changed dramatically since retirement. It makes no difference when I get up in the morning! Every morning!! I have no schedule, nor anything that is "I must get up at such and such time of day to get there, or do that". So, let's just say ---I can sleep in, if I want---or get up early for a day trip. It depends. Main Course When was the last time you forgot something? What was it, and how long did it take to remember it? Just the other day. My driver's

I 've been tagged! But, to be honest, I'm not sure just what all this entails. And reading the 'copy this' section, I'm feeling a little hog-tied and VERY blond. Tagging is fun at times with memes and such, but I know that all the five I've tagged below are very busy with their lives and sometimes tagging seems too much like a chain email--"if you don't participate something odd/weird will happen to you in the next 16 hours", so don't feel this is a necessary thing to do! I would completely understand if you wish NOT to participate. But, since I was tagged by our cyber cruise captain , I wanted to reciprocate and list five blogs. Again, it's not a big deal if you don't want to join the 'train'. ROFL But, I also read to check my blog's ranking with Alexa ---Whoo--hoo!!! I think I'll faint. Naturally, I didn't make it in the top 100 ---duh! But, I'm proud to state this: I made it in the top 10 million,

T he other day, hubby and I were having a conversation and it went on and on...it got me to thinking! Bud: "Step on a crack, it'll break your mother's back"! Me: "Oh my, did you honestly believe that stuff when you were a kid?" Bud: "Damn straight, I did. I always avoided stepping on sidewalk cracks." Me: *laughing* "You now realize that those sayings were nothing but 'old wives' tales, don't you?" Bud: *quiet, looking out to the sea, contemplating his retort* "Well, it's better to be safe than sorry." And the conversation didn't stop there... I pushed him a bit further--- Me: "What about the old saying, 'Red sky in the morning, sailor's warning. Red sky at night, sailor's delight"? Bud: "That isn't an 'old wives' tale', that's from generations of old salts and weather while aboard ship, sailing the seven seas." Me: *okay, I couldn't resist t

L et's face it, sometimes in life, there are moments and then there are "KOKAK® moments". Yesterday afternoon, I peeked in to see if Bud was still napping, and yep---sure 'nuff he was. And Winnie the Pood (pood rhymes with good) was too. The two of us call our cat Winston, Winnie the Pood, sometimes, after Winnie the Pooh of course. But, hey, I digress...that's not the point of this whole shebang here. It's the position of our Winnie's napping!! But really, he brings forth a whole new meaning of "zonked-out". [click to enlarge] <><><> I urgently needed a few days off work, But, I knew the boss would not allow me to take leave. I thought that maybe if I acted crazy Then he would tell me to take a few days off. So, I hung upside-down on the ceiling and made funny noises. My co-worker (who's blonde) asked me what I was doing. I told her that I was pretending to be a light bulb, so that the boss might think I was crazy an

T his is my first time with this meme for Tuesday. This week we're supposed to post ten favorite photos. Well, I actually have better ones that I've taken, but, to save me time, I'm not going to go through albums and scan better ones. These ten were still on the computer, so I uploaded them here for the week. From top left to right, and scrolling down here are the explanations of each: Sunrise walk along Ocean Drive, A tanker going into the port - under bridge, A shrimp boat coming in with a load of fresh shrimp, Our kitty-Winston, Santa afghan I crocheted, Rose from our rose bed, King's Ranch Tour-prize bulls, Sunset in Winter, Our kitty-Tahoe, and last is a sea gull.

O f course, me being a bit 'silly' today, there must be an explanation, right? Sure!! And I'm now gonna 'splain it all, right now, right here---- IT'S MONDAY!! Smile!! There is surely a market for these, somewhere--- <><><> This list is one of my favorites. It's been around the 'net for nearly generations now, but it still brings smiles to my face. Okay, so I'm a bit odd, but it does make me smile. Ghost Poopie The kind where you feel the Poopie come out, but there's no poopie in the toilet. Clean Poopie The kind where you poopie it out, see it in the toilet, but there is nothing on the toilet paper. Wet Poopie The kind where you wipe your butt fifty times and it still feels unwiped, so you have to put some toilet paper between your butt and your underwear so you don't runie them with a stain. Second Wave Poopie The kind that happens when you're done poopie-ing and you've pulled your pants up to your knees, and you r

* singing to the tune of Houston by Dean Martin circa 1965* W ell, it's crazy in this ol' town, Ev'rybody drivin' sunrise t' sundown-- I'm a soul that's fool enough to drive here, it makes life rough..... We're back from Houston, Houston, Houston! Gawd, how I hate that city. Well, the city itself is terrific. It's drivin' in that area of 2+ million fanatics that'll take anyone that is sane... and make them mad with road rage!! The city is now boasted as being the 4th largest city in the United States, and the traffic is just uncomparable to any city here in the U.S. It's stated to cover nearly 550 square miles, and the majority of that is highways, overpasses, fly-bys, interchanges and TRAFFIC. LOL And to top it off, it was Saturday and everyone is out and about by noon!! LOL It made me remember the evacuation of the hurricane Rita, just after the devastating 'cane, Katrina, and what an awful jumbled mess that was....and I can se

NOTE: I'm not going to be home for the photo hunt[Saturday], I'm gonna be at my son's graduation from St. Thomas with his master's degree---[more below] but for the 'cooked' theme, here is a recent entry I made on how to 'cook' RUNZA'S <-click link -->Along with a step by step array of photos!! <><><> O ur son, the youngest of two children, will graduate with a Master's Degree!! Tho, I hafta get up before the sun rises to get on the road to be there to witness this phenomenon (the reason I say this is, I remember the school days before he graduated from high school----and his lackadaisical, disinterest in higher education---how I had to 'fight' him to even complete homework and show any enthusiasm whatsoever with school!) You see, he did graduate, to my surprise back then, from high school. Ya, I was proud of him then, but knew the kid could have done better in so many ways. He had signed up for the Marine Corps

O nce during a commercial of a rerun of House, M.D., I switched over to see what's happening at Dancing with the Stars on ABC. And I stayed long enough to watch Apollo and Julianne dance the quick step. And I was wowed!! Tho I haven't watched this season much, I am now hooked. I will continue to watch, if I'm able, and see who wins the trophy. My vote is certainly for Apollo. But, I definitely think that it may be a judges' tie this year!! Time will tell. These two you tube videos are the couple's two perfect scores from the judges desk! They're very impressive! The second one is the Pasa Doble of which I missed by not having the television on -- I'm glad I did my research and found this one, and the 1st video is the one I caught live the other night, the quick step!! It's awesome. Well, both of them are! I can see why the professional judges gave them perfect scores. Watch the sync and the foot work!! [DWTS animation made by me. The

Y esterday, I got a chance to hear from my cardiologist about the results from the nuclear stress test I went through last week. Last Monday I had to fast from midnight Sunday through to 11 a.m. Monday morning. The testing took nearly 6 hours. It was a very long day for me. The first part was to have a heart sonogram. This was neat. I could see every valve and motion my heart was doing. Even sound. Tho, I have to admit, when my heart would do it's arrhythmic dancing, it didn't sound good! It was a bit uncomfortable at times for me, but the images and sounds told me I was alive! After that, I was instructed to get my first injection of radioactive substance into my veins. I then had to drink cold water to encourage the 'glow in the dark' juices to flow more quickly, into my system. Then, I had to sit in an 'ice chamber' ---well, it really wasn't icy, but damn cold!! And I had my walking shorts and tank top on. Instructions were to sit, relax and e
