Got a good reason For taking the easy way out

origin: Latin > fragmentum > Friday

Not much to fragment this week. But, I'll give it a go anywho...

  • Even without cable TV I can watch free episodes via NBC/CBS ----and I watched the latest episode of GRIMM Saturday afternoon. Excellent, suspenseful, nearly gothic in some ways...it's the best show on prime time NBC for the entire week. And after watching the last, most recent showing....I had to go out on Google to see if it would be cancelled or renewed for another season. I'm pleased as punch....it's coming back for a new season in the Fall & Spring of 2012/2013!

  • We've been getting a small share of rain the last week. [Not as much as Portland Texas, just about 25 miles northeast of us tho...Monday they rec'd a whopping 13 inches in just a couple of hours...LOTS of flooding and high winds---with tons of damage around their town]. Anyway, from the nasty brown, drought-ridden lawn in front, it's finally getting GREEN!!! This image is taken from the cellphone [again]...a couple years ago [a one gallon container], I planted this bougainvillea bush, to begin its growth to replace the huge tree we had taken out. Plans are to keep trimming it and training it to become a 'weeping tree'....

It's grown quickly this Spring, don't you think?!! It's now about 5 feet high...

  • But wait...if the Mayan predictions are correct...how the heck will I know what happens to all the characters on GRIMM?!!! Hope Monroe and Rosalee will get connected before Dec. 22nd!!! [insert wink]

  • On the subject of television, NCIS has a new love interest for Special Agent Gibbs. Altho, I DO like Jamie Lee Curtis, in the back of my mind, I'm really a bit skeptical of her intentions!! She has a child...and oftentimes mentions it...but, there hasn't been any showing either with her alone or while 'working' and lovin' Gibbs. My question is...is she legit? Or is she gonna end up being a bad one eventually? I'm really trying not to, but I think 90% I'm beginning to "lean toward the later scenario"...bad one.

  • Last Saturday a question was posted here..."Why do birds stand/sleep while on only ONE leg?" Someone suggested that I look it up. So out to Google I went ----from most sites listed on the query, two conclusions were mentioned. One was muscle fatigue, while another made a whole lotta sense: Thermoregulatory Function. A bodily function that helps control body heat...and/or cooling off. It is mainly a blood vessel, circulatory thermal control. One leg, in heat ---to help keep cool. While some birds seen on ice with one leg raised in its plumage ---to help conserve body HEAT!! BEST EXPLANATION [if interested, you need to scroll down to read] The photo posted is a repeat show of a heron which I published Saturday on my Camera Critter meme entry.

  • Finally, my cell phone got an update. Months ago, Bud had an update on his, but mine never did...I was jealous, 'cause the update on his made it easier to read the keyboard, etc. It took forever for them to get around to mine. GEEZ. Now, I'm up to par with Bud as far as cellphones go.

    7. I'm an NCIS fan, but never heard of GRIMM. I watch too much TV as it is, so I'll skip it. Plus there's the end of the world that will mess up my plans. LOVE your bougainvillea plant, it's just so pretty. And things are indeed greening up down there. :-)

    8. You know, I actually haven't watched NBC/ABC/CBS in a long, long time. The only channels we watch are Discovery, TLC, and the Food Network on occasion. And really only because my husband has the remote, if it was up to me (as it will be for the next month while he's out of town), I either read in the evenings or watch a movie. The plethora of reality tv shows has really killed tv for me. With the only show I ever watched on regular tv anymore being House (which is finished for good after this season), there's no point to tv anymore.

Man I miss the 80's a good primetime tv!

    9. Oooooo, love that 'weeping tree' - spectacular color! I've learned to tune the TV out and enjoy my laptop. Hubby watches one CSI/Auction Hunters - Canadian and American/and Soccer after another. He doesn't care if they are repeats - because he naps through them anyhow. Now with his Parkinson's AND advanced prostate ca, I just let him do what he wants to - don't have enough motivation for both of us! Can't wait for some warmer weather to get out a bit more.

    10. Your tree is fabulous, Anni. We rarely watch regular network since it is all junk anymore. Hubby & I like comedy ... he has Fox News on 24-7 on his TV.

I love learning more about birds but never thought about this ... TY for sharing.

      Have a great weekend ~

    12. I am so jealous of your bougainvilla bush! It doesn't thrive in our climate of course. (We had new snow on the ground this morning, briefly).

Are they still showing dramas on TV? Who knew? Baseball is back at our house.. sigh.

Even if things added up I don't think she is Gibbs' type.

    15. Oh, the GOOD news about the Mayans is they forgot to count leap years in their calendar, so really, they're already too late! We missed the end of time already because they messed up the calendar! So, we'll probably make it to see what the plants do next yer. Your tree is beautiful, BTW!

I got my update on my phone, a dumb phone not a smart phone, but I was getting my voice mails about a month after calls I never got left them. I needed the update so the towers could find me again. Yeesh!

Between work, posting, and reading other A-Z blogs I run out of time each day. I be back May 1...have you read any of my A-Z stuff??

My wife watches Grimm and loves it. We both watch NCIS and love it but I am loving it more lately because I have been in love with Jamie Lee since Halloween...and she still looks hot now. Gibbs has taste.

    18. I watched part of the first Grimm and didn't think I'd like it, so never again. Maybe I'm missing something good, but I already watch too many shows. As for Jamie Lee - she doesn't fit his long red-haired "type." Anxious to see how it works out for them.

I've been watching Mary Tyler Moore and it is such a class act - the facial expressions are classic. The writing is terrific. I wanted to be her, back in the day! I'm also watching My Three Sons and That Girl. Such good stuff.

I have a new phone and am loving it.

Your tree is gorgeous! So glad you got some rain. We could use a tad more. Our spring flowers are so great.

Just wondering - have you read the No. 1 Ladies' Detective Agency novels by Alexander McCall Smith? I love them, and wonder what you'd think.

    20. I've been worrying about Jamie Lee Curtis and Gibbs too - - - I don't trust her either.

We also had a whole lotta rain this week, only last night ours turned into SNOW.

It didn't last - - - never does this time of year.

My tulips have to be HARDY 'cause I refuse to cover them every other night when we get frost warnings.

    21. Hi Anni, Love your bougainvillea... Awesome!!!

I haven't seen GRIMM---but do watch NCIS... So far, I like the chemistry between Gibbs and his new lady-love... But--like you, I'm not sure I trust her yet.... We'll have to wait and see!!!

We couldn't make it without Cable... Many of the shows we love are on cable... One of our favorite network show is CASTLE (on ABC)... Do you watch it???? It's terrific.

I had read the same thing you read about birds on one leg.... Interesting, huh?

We are still using an old cellphone. One of these days, we'll upgrade and get an iPHone....

      Have a good weekend.

      1. I thought the same thing...but with so many commercials on cable [when we first subscribed to cable...years ago, that was the 'selling point'-------NO COMMERCIALS]. I don't miss TV at all. And wish now we would have done the no tv thing years ago.

    22. We watch so much news around here that I stay in a constant state of depression. I finally told my poor husband that if we didn't turn to something else I would turn into a raving maniac....to which he replied (with a smile) "short trip".....

Your bougainvillea is gorgeous! We are currently (husband) doing the after tax season yard work. I mow the grass regularly, but I don't edge or trim.
