Loving is not just looking at each other, it's looking in the same direction.

Sit a spell....this meme'll take some time!!

Sunday Stealing:

Our dear hostess, Harriet ===This meme will either age me a great deal or show y'all I did my homework this time. LOL... I don't know which. As, I LOVE Disney!! [mostly because of the art, but the music is great also!!] My answers I made a bit interactive...click on the buttons and listen/watch. It'll be a bit o' fanciful fun with the king of movies....Mr. Disney-----------

Sunday Stealing: Harriet's Choice: The Disney Meme

1. Which non-Disney Princess Disney Film is your favorite? At first, no after reading this question three times over, I think I understand it now. It means a leading lady that was done by Disney that isn't a princess? Then, my answer would be:

2. Which Disney film makes you cry the most? I know I refused to go see it, and still refuse to watch it---Eight Below!!! I really can't recall doing much crying during Disney movies...it's a toss up between two for the animated movie genre - One from long ago I think. ...a story about an orphaned girl- it'd be The Rescuers -about Penny. And Brother Bear, a Native American story of the relationships/ties between humans and animals:

3. Which Disney film makes you the happiest? Happiest only 'cause it's a favorite movie for me. The humor mainly:

4. Which Disney film has the best music?
Music? As in "NO LYRICS" ---a theme song? No doubt here...it HAS to be [I love the drums...the rhythm, the beat, the acoustics!!]:

POTC

5. Which Disney film has the best love story?
It'd have to be the love of his dogs...in Eight Below. [I know of it...Bud saw it....and the man's love for his sled dogs----well, tears are welling...you know what I mean if you know the story---this is LOVE at it's highest]

6. Who is your favorite Disney Princess? 7. Who is your favorite Disney Prince? This couple is so reminiscent of a favorite novel of mine so #6 and & #7 answers would be for the same movie [the story reminds me of Phantom of the Opera in so many ways with disfiguration and love of a beautiful woman]

8. Who is your favorite Disney animal sidekick?

Probably "Baloo" from 'The Jungle Book'...the bear. The BEAR necessity in the movie. LOL

9. Who is your favorite Disney main character animal? Only 'cause he becomes the great 'prince' of the forest. I like it still today. I like it because of the strength his mother taught him even after she is gone...he grew up strong because of her will given to him at birth!

10. Who is your favorite villain?

11. What is your favorite Disney song?

From 'Song of the South'

12. What is your favorite Disney villian song?

From Lady and the Tramp

13. What is your favorite Disney animal song?

14. What is your favorite Disney Princess song?

From Snow White

15. What is your favorite Disney Prince song? I'm not 'into' much of the prince and princess Disney...but as an adult the only prince that can really sing isn't even royalty, and not considered prince by definition, ....but, when he sings he's a PRINCE to me... I melt when I hear this song:

But the real Disney Prince song would be:

From Lion King

16. What is your favorite Disney Prince/Princess duet song?

From Aladdin

17. What is your favorite Disney love song?

From Lion King

Which Disney Princess Are You???

According to the answers you have just chosen you are most like the Disney Princess Belle.

Belle is as lovely as her name implies but her natural unaffected beauty is far more than skin deep. An intelligent and avid reader Belle yearns for faraway places and exciting adventures. She is a loyal, loving daughter and when the beast finally wins her trust she gives him all her kindness and patience and then realizes she has also given him her heart. With her inner strength and outward beauty, Belle is a young woman who can and does make things happen.

REGARDING THE TSUNAMI THREAT on the islands of Hawai'i....I'm glad it was a 'bust'....and I hope when and if there is another situation like yesterday's, that the citizens still continue to pay heed to their government and reach high land when told to do so!!!

6 WORD SATURDAY

SPRING IS COMING OUR WAY---FINALLY!!!

Respectively, my pomegranate tree is budding! ---The rose box roses are thriving! ---The lantana is becoming green again. We even mowed the lawn and edged it a couple of days ago. I'm lovin' it-------in fact, in the last two days we've had clear skies, no threat of rain, and warmer temps! Today it's predicted to be near 70 degrees for a high! And nighttime temps have been a lot milder. Ahhhhhhh, finally, back to normal down here in the south. It's about time. But of course, if everything goes according to Anni...she'll be b!tchin' about the heat in a month or two.

CAMERA CRITTERS

On the island, you'd see this dolphin sculpture on the property of The Sand Castle Curiosity and Gift Shoppe! Perhaps, if you'd name 'em, I'd guess they'd be the Three Amigos?

THURSDAY THUNKS

1. Who is the craziest person in your family? I've been told that it's just a short drive from here to the looney bin...must be me then!!!

2. If you could make turtle shells any color you wanted, what color would turtles be? The shell would have to be hard surfaced, so I'd say it'd be made from turquoise...the stone & the color!!! Besides, brown and turquoise are complimentary to each other.

3. How fast do hotcakes sell? They'd only sell....after my warm from the oven cookies are sold out.

4. Can cannibals be arrested for being under the influence of alcohol if they have eaten someone who was drunk? Depends...if you're crossing the border and have black hair, and look suspicious...ya, probably.

5. If I had my legs amputated, would I have to change my height and weight on my driver's license? Yes....and do make sure you get a disabled sticker for your License Plates!! And a special equipped vehicle to drive. Otherwise, please, stay away from being behind the wheel!!

6. Where do people in Hell tell other people to go? They'd say to the newbies: "Go two doors down from here turn to your right, and then make a direct left ----it's my mother in law's room!! She'll singe the hair off your body quicker than you can say: "Where the hell am I"?

7. Do you make stupid little baby noises when talking to your pets? No....but I have been known to lie to 'em. After one pukes up grass I say "Poor thing"...when I really mean "You puke, you clean it up"!!

8. Is the light on in the room? The sun's light as I type this up early on Wednesday afternoon, yes.

9. Did the voice tell you that the light is on in the room? Oh my goodness, this is freaky now. #7 --one pet cat meowed and the other howled in here just as I finished typing the word 'light' in #8.

10. If you were to name an alcoholic drink, what would it be called? 19th Hole!!!
It's a golfer's delight at the clubhouse---and I'm not giving out my trade secret concoction. The sign I made up is "Specialty of the House Today --19th Hole. Drink it...you'll feel like you've scored a hole in one for the last 18 - above par---guaranteed no pits added."

THURSDAY 13

Some of my favorite quotes, that I've oftentimes recited in everyday living, from literature... [oops...how did that one movie quote get in here? LOL]

1] 'The world has held great Heroes,
As history books have showed;
But never a name to go down to fame
Compared with that of Toad!'
- Kenneth Grahame, The Wind in the Willows, Ch. 10

2] 'It was the best of times, it was the worst of times, it was the age of wisdom, it was the age of foolishness, it was the epoch of belief, it was the epoch of incredulity, it was the season of Light, it was the season of Darkness, it was the spring of hope, it was the winter of despair, we had everything before us, we had nothing before us, we were all going direct to Heaven, we were all going direct the other way--'
- Charles Dickens, A Tale of Two Cities, Book 1, Chapter 1

3] 'For never was a story of more woe
than this of Juliet and her Romeo.'
- William Shakespeare, Romeo and Juliet, 5.3

4] 'Evening of a hot day started the little wind to moving among the leaves. The shade climbed up the hills toward the top. On the sand banks the rabbits sat as quietly as little gray, sculptured stones.'
- John Steinbeck, Of Mice and Men, Ch. 1

5] "Listen," said she; "I yield to your protestations, I yield to your assurances. But I swear to you, before God who hears us, that if you betray me, and my enemies pardon me, I will kill myself, while accusing you of my death."
- Alexandre Dumas, The Three Musketeers, Ch. 18

6] *favorite movie quote -in bold font- from "The Three Musketeers":
Cardinal Richelieu: A word of caution, milady. A snap of my fingers, and you could be back on the block where I found you.
Milady: And with a flick of my wrist, I could change your religion. [she, holding a knife---yummy scene!]
    Cardinal Richelieu: You're very persuasive.

7] ' "Tis some visitor," I muttered, "tapping at my chamber door Only this, and nothing more."
-Edgar Allan Poe, The Raven
(I tend to say this in whispered decibels as I peek out my security window on the front door after the doorbell rings, unexpectedly)

8] 'He had a heart that could have held the empire of the world; and, in the end, he had to content himself with a cellar'.
- Gaston Leroux, Phantom of the Opera [epilogue] (I loved this classical work so much, I named my son Erik!!!)

9] 'As God is my witness, as God is my witness they're not going to lick me. I'm going to live through this and when it's all over, I'll never be hungry again. No, nor any of my folk. If I have to lie, steal, cheat or kill. As God is my witness, I'll never be hungry again'. (I always had the feeling she was lacking sanity at times while reading this book over and over, but then, realizing the girl was only 16 when war broke out...and living through the turmoil and loss...she probably had the right to be greedy and a bit selfish, don't you think?)
- Margaret Mitchell, Gone With the Wind, Ch. 25

10] "I am strong against everything, except against the death of those I love. He who dies gains; he who sees others die loses."
- Alexandre Dumas, Man in the Iron Mask [photo, see #5]

11] 'The evil of the world is made possible by nothing but the sanction you give it'.
- Ayn Rand, Atlas Shrugged, Ch. 7

12] 'It was not necessary to wonder about the reasons. It was necessary only to hate, to hate blindly, to hate patiently, to hate without anger, only to hate and let nothing intervene, and not let oneself forget, ever.'
- Ayn Rand, The Fountainhead [photo #11]

13] 'No matter how dreary and gray our homes are, we people of flesh and blood would rather live there than in any other country, be it ever so beautiful. There is no place like home.'
- L. Frank Baum, The Wonderful Wizard of OZ

HEADS OR TAILS

This week: Rumor

It's something I really don't pay attention to often; never have. In fact, I find them quite comical. It's like gossip over the fence. For instance---
Did you hear about Frank Einstein?
He was a monster last night!!
---Then, the next thing you know the tabloids have a picture of some hideous winged creature with Adbray Ittpay's face and the whole beginning of the monster, Frank, has been construed to Brad walking out on Angelinaway Oliejay. Etc. etc. etc. and it spreads across the land like dirt on a shirt!!...and so, this is how rumors originate. But I did hear through the grapevine that Wrush Lymbaw was fired!! Pass it on.......

RUBY TUESDAY

Kwahu Kachina
Occasionally, in one of the night ceremonies in March or during the Powamu, one may have the satisfaction of seeing a performance of the Eagle Kachina [pronounced k'CHEEN ah]. Usually the performer imitates the step or motion and cry of the eagle to absolute perfection. Eagle Kachinas will sometimes appear with Mudheads at night ceremonies in March.

These uniquely Hopi artworks are called "dolls," but that is a bit of a misnomer. Kachinas (or katsinas) are actually stylized religious icons, meticulously carved from cottonwood root and painted to represent figures from Hopi mythology. Authentic kachina dolls are made only by Hopi artists. This one, the Eagle, is one in our collection. Read MORE

The Eagle Dancer Kachina doll is one of the most popular of all the kachina dolls. He is certainly one of the most spectacular as well as one of the most difficult to carve. The Eagle Dancer Kachina doll represents strength and power and is the ruler of the sky as well as the messenger to the heavens. The Eagle Kachina doll is the sacred and magnificent protector of all.
